  1. Hi Jason - we had very difficult neighbours at some stage. Differently so from yours - aggressive, drinking fairly heavily etc… I tried to accommodate their many demands (and their huge dog who howled all day and used our garden as his toilet) until one day, I just started ghosting them. Cut off contact entirely, blocked their mobile phone number, ignored them when they tried to speak to me. I point blank refused to deal with them, including when they needed my signature to extend the lease to secure their new mortgage, which really panicked them. This proved highly effective and they moved soon after (after I made them sweat to sign the freehold docs they needed) I don’t know if you want to do the same if there is a personality disorder involved. But if you do, make sure all your paperwork is in order and there’s absolutely nothing you need from them. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. It’s really unpleasant.
  2. Another vote for Friddle’s cakes: https://www.instagram.com/friddles_cakes?igsh=MTdyYjB3NHk0dTMyMg==
  3. It’s really noisy tonight. Right in the middle of exam season.🙄
  4. You clearly haven’t used the bus for a while. Full of Harris boys.
  5. Would have been nice for Southwark to spare a thought for kids doing exams at this time of year. I expect a lot of them will get very stressed trying to reach their destination. And another note, take care if you’re cycling. There were a lot of HGVs when I came back at lunchtime yesterday. Also some dangerous driving as drivers became irate after being stuck for ages.
  6. They’re rated as requiring improvement. And it seems that the care quality commission is keeping an eye on them. https://www.cqc.org.uk/location/1-565650623/inspection-summary It’s taken so long to get to this stage. See this article published in 2011: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2063458/amp/Family-doctors-firm-raking-1-8m-YEAR--patients-say-surgery-appalling.html We moved to The Gardens some time ago and never looked back.
  7. DMC has been a shit show since I moved to ED which was 19 years ago… It will never improve unless it changes ownership.
  8. Watson’s General Telegraph. Truly amazing. High quality meat, generous portions, huge Yorkshires. We don’t go anywhere else.
  9. Hi all - just wondering if your secondary school is offering GCSE revision sessions over the Easter holidays?
  10. Oh no! Poor thing I’d contact Celia Hammond if I were you. I’m out all day tomorrow else I would have come to help. Keep us posted if you can. Thank you.
  11. Thank you, everyone!
  12. Our car was broken into tonight. Can someone recommend best place to have window replaced quickly please? Thank you.
  13. I hope LL won’t become another bland high street… I will also continue to go to Health Matters. But might buy my nuts from H&B.
  14. I’ve told the council (twice), our Dulwich Hill councillor, and Thames Water (twice).
  15. I’ve reported the water leak outside 36/38 Dunstans Road to Thames Water and Southwark Council yet again this morning. This has been going on for about 18 months now. This is really dangerous when it freezes over like today, causing me (and maybe others) to come off my bike last year in front of oncoming traffic. Does anybody know what’s going on? Thank you.
  16. I’m so sorry to hear of Akif’s passing. My thoughts are with the family. RIP, Akif.
  17. OP, are you at the Peckham Rye end of Dunstans Road by any chance? There’ been a leak here for over a year, which caused me to come off my bike when it froze over last November. I reported it to the Council and Thames Water and nothing’s happened.
  18. So they’ve not offered a solution and insist the legs are of equal length. In any event, the stitching is wonky and some of it is already coming off. Seems like their usual (and excellent tailor) was away so the guy probably did the job himself or sent it somewhere else. Anyway - not going to waste any more time on it. I’ve had many excellent recommendations for the Workshop in Crofton Park and this is where I shall be taking my alterations from now on.
  19. The fact they’re pegging the London Living Wage to staff accepting the cut in number of working weeks is particularly callous and so,so, so wrong.
  20. Thank you, Sue. I’ve not spoken to the business yet but will do so tomorrow. Never been in this situation so not sure what to expect. And frankly wondering how anyone could have such disrespect for people’s garments.
  21. Hi, I bought a super special pair of jeans for my daughter with money my dad gave me from my mum’s estate. These jeans have now been ruined by a local business I’ve been using for some time with both legs too short and one shorter than the other. I’m so upset. Is there anyone who could help (and could do all my alterations going forward)? Thank you.
  22. My humble advice would be to stick with The Gardens. I moved there from DMC on Crystal Palace Road, which was unsafe. Whilst I’d love to move house, I’m staying put so I can stay with The Gardens. They always, always, always give me a phone appointment on the day and see me if need be. They were fantastic when I called after my mum died of aortic dissection to assess if I could be affected too - all this within an hour of my call.
  23. We had a fantastic meal at Du Fratelli tonight. Husband and daughter had pizza and I had the seabass. All absolutely fantastic.
  24. This is a bit of a long shot but I’d like to speak to a doctor specialising in aortic disease. This is after my mum - who had a calcified abdominal aorta - died suddenly after being fobbed off by two GPs who said her severe backache was due to arthritis. This happened in France. I’d love some help to work out what the results of some of her past medical tests mean. It’s mainly numbers - and I can translate the little that’s written in French. Thank you!
  25. I did the Ancestry one and found what I thought was a long-lost relative in a far away country. I was very excited until I found out my 101-year-old grandma knew about it all along and had never thought of telling us. LOL. I didn’t try the other one. Good luck with whatever you choose!
