  1. We used to share but now the hubby's a teacher so not easy.
  2. But the report correctly identifies DMC as a priority for inspection whereas my small family doctor has been identified as a low priority. The agenda of the people behind the report does not seem all that skewed. Who's behind the save our surgeries campaign? Is it the same GPs who got a massively good deal but failed to show us the goods?
  3. Grinling Gibbons, a state primary on Deptford High Street, comes fourth in the Sunday Times' top 600 state and independent primary schools, before Alleyn's. The interview with the headteacher makes for a nice Sunday morning read.
  4. From what the station manager said to me, disruptions for platform 15 will continue until January. So no they are not running a normal service and do not expect to be running one for weeks to come. If they can't run all the trains, they should have admitted it and amended the timetables accordingly.
  5. I left Moorgate at 1645 and did not get to East Dulwich until 1748. Was late for picking up child. Even though I left extra early! How is that possible? I am sick to the back teeth of these dishonest imbeciles. I spoke to the manager as I had time on my hands. Basically it's crap, they know it and it's going to be like that until January. I call them dishonest because they basically have no intention of running a proper service. They're just pretending thy are. In the meantime, ed parents with kids to pick up, I salute you.
  6. Anybody else had problems tonight? More than an hour to get home tonight. I am furious! Anyone wants to organise a group complaint?

So today I left work in moorgate at 1645 and might not be home in time to pick up my daughter in east Dulwich for 6.00pm. Spoke to three members of staff. It should get better by January. I encourage you all to log your complaints.
  8. Under the new system, GPs won't be able to advise their patients to go to the Lister willy milly. They will have to call the Lister themselves and explain why their patients need to be seen (and probably why they can't see them!). This should stem the flow of patients to the Lister a bit (or indeed a lot). We used it a few times at the weekend when calling Seldoc seemed ott. It was convenient for small illnesses that did not need investigating further or as a stopgap when you needed to see someone urgently and your GP was not available soon enough as is too often the case.
  9. I think it is the same for weekends as it says: "if your GP is closed, you will be redirected to the out of hours service, or you can phone 02086939066. A&e is for emergencies only." But then they say that this new service (whereby you book them via your GP) is available 7 days a week. I'll try and scan the leaflet and post it here.
  10. I think so but your gp surgery seems to have to make the appointment for you. Not as convenient as before but probably necessary. I was there yesterday and they were having to turn people away.
  11. From 11 November, no more walk in appointments available at The Lister. Poster at reception says if you need to see a doctor on the same day or the next, contact your gp practice and if you're not registered with one, contact one near you. When you contact your practice, your gp or nurse will give you advice. If you still need to be seen, they'll book you an appointment at your practice. If one is not available, they can book you in at the lister. That's a shame. Was such a useful service!
  12. Seems measly. I don't know how much mine gets - she has not got the concept of time - But i would have hoped 20mns minimum morning and afternoon and an hour at lunch (excluding lunch). Something tells me I am in for another culture shock!
  13. Meet the managers meeting at London Bridge on November 6th. The managers will get a piece of my mind!
  14. Seconding Friddle's Cakes. Check her a facebook page.
  15. It's still worth you ringing nurseries - their waiting lists tend to be one big mess. Don't limit your search: it could be that when it comes down to it, a nursery is the best option or vice versa. For childminders, I agree the best option is word of mouth. Having said that, the two wonderland childminders i have had I met through the forum, got on well with them immediately, checked their crb documents and that was it! Good luck!
  16. What I will not forget DMC for: leaving me in agony with a horrible urinary infection a week after a very difficult labour. Why? Because their phones were not working... Again! Other GP surgeries seem to be able to organise their phones, pick up the receiver, talk to the person at the other end and, the Holy Grail, give an appointment. I am not blaming the receptionists by the way! I have a few friends in London who have some trouble with their surgeries. Other friends in London, Essex, Yorkshire... Have no trouble.
  17. It's quite incredible that with all the noise about DMC on here, all the complaints, the situation does not seem to have changed.
  18. Try the ones which are not run solely for money. A good sign is surgeries that do not have those big NHS trucks checking your blood pressure in Dulwich Park at the weekend. We moved from DMC to The Gardens. GPs are infinitely better, phones answered on the first ring and appointments available at short notice.

  20. Ok. Here's a contact: Angela Okello Deputy Customer Service Manager Southern & Gatwick Express [email protected] Mark your emails to her attention in the title. The 1740 is late again tonight. I will email her every time the trains are late. Fellow angry commuters, please do the same. We're being taken for fools.
  21. And again! 1740 delayed by 12 mns. By the time everyone boards, it will be 1800 when we leave and I'll be late to pick up my daughter. I will search for contact details tonight!
  22. Train driver was nice but frankly it did not matter to me. Apologies not accepted, as far as I am concerned!enough is enough. They should get things sorted. Then there will be no need for empty, meaningless apologies. I am looking for the right contact details at Southern and will post them here?
  23. Arrived at 1808 at London Bridge for the 1810 to East Dulwich. Train was announced as late. We were told it would leave at 1820. Crowds did not start boarding until 18.23. We departed at 1830 and did not arrive to ed until 1845. I will email Charles Horton, CEO, about it. If the email address I have works, I will post it here.
  24. I am off on Friday 24 and DD, who's just turned 5 and is in year 1, has an Inset day. I want to take her to Central London. Currently the plan is for Science Museum in the morning and Kensington Gardens in the afternoon (including Peter Pan statue). But it's things we've done before. Last year, we had gone to the Tower of London, which she had loved. Any ideas for a great day out? Any ideas welcome including sight seeing, musicals, afternoon tea, lunch etc... I want her to have a magical day. Thank you in advance!
