  1. Arrived at 1808 at London Bridge for the 1810 to East Dulwich. Train was announced as late. We were told it would leave at 1820. Crowds did not start boarding until 18.23. We departed at 1830 and did not arrive to ed until 1845. I will email Charles Horton, CEO, about it. If the email address I have works, I will post it here.
  2. I am off on Friday 24 and DD, who's just turned 5 and is in year 1, has an Inset day. I want to take her to Central London. Currently the plan is for Science Museum in the morning and Kensington Gardens in the afternoon (including Peter Pan statue). But it's things we've done before. Last year, we had gone to the Tower of London, which she had loved. Any ideas for a great day out? Any ideas welcome including sight seeing, musicals, afternoon tea, lunch etc... I want her to have a magical day. Thank you in advance!
  3. We went camping in Brittany. Tent was pitched by a river, which was idyllic; lots of activities on offer including a kind of mini go ape for 4+, which I have never seen anywhere else; big pools; lovely Britanny beaches with no chavs or hurray Henries and nice food. It was by far the best holiday we've had. Camping ty nadan.
  4. Love it. Well done!
  5. Fabricio, this thread is most definitely about bad drivers.
  6. Well we could afford it but decided to change our lives around, work less and spend more time with mini monkey. I'll let you in on a little secret: kids at state school do learn to read and write and more! They do, they really do!
  7. If anyone knows how to contact the gym people at crystal palace, please let me know. I have tried email and phone. No results so far. Thanks!
  8. And more cancellations this morning. So basically they've taken a service that was working well and have broken it. And do we really believe we'll get back the same numbers of trains as before when the work is over?
  9. You should report this to the police. It does not matter that you don't have his number plate - it's now two (three?) of you who have been at the receiving end of this lunatic behaviour. The police should take this seriously especially since there's a school just around the corner. Really sorry this happened to you.
  10. For my daughter, we put her in black leggings, white and red top, we made our own eye patch and used some old bits of curtains for her scarf. All from sainsbury's or our cupboard. She looked great!
  11. Most of those lists are completely mismanaged. I refused to pay at a local community nursery after the then manager told us she might prioritise other people whom she deemed needed the place more so basically I could pay but never get a place depending on whom this woman deemed worthy to get into her nursery. Nurseries should either not charge, give a refund or close their lists for time to time. I only came across one nursery that closes its lists from time to time.
  12. My sister in law did much worse: regular fare avoidance and even she got off very lightly. Small fine despite getting rude to the ticket inspector too.
  13. Maybe they should be spending more time sorting out their waiting list!!!
  14. Thanks se22mum, I had not thought about that. Perhaps she's supposed to do it completely alone. Will speak to teacher. Thanks!
  15. Wow I am not alone! Thanks everyone! The rest of the homework seems fine (though time consuming), it's only the maths that seems a bit hard. Agree that it's a good way to assess their levels and work out what they can and cannot do. Also agree that it's overkill at this stage and potentially useless too... Looking at the bright side, I have done more with her in two days than my parents did with me in 18 years...
  16. Agree - she did it (or at least tried to do it) at 6.00pm today, which was far too late. She was too tired. But hubby says it's all too rushed in the morning. I leave at 6.30am so can't help. We'll have to find a way.
  17. Oh joy! Well, we'll just have to get on with it!
  18. Any year 1 parents here in shock at the sight of this year's weekly homework? Dd could not even do 1+1... It's going to be one long year... I was expecting one piece of homework per week, not per day!!!
  19. More delays for me tonight. Need to investigate alternative routes... I see people are using #southeasternfail on twitter to try and coordinate some campaign. Might start using it.
  20. Blimey, ?48 for a pair of Clarks?! We always go to the factory shops now (including peckham rye) and pay around ?23.
  21. Would be fine if trains scheduled to run actually ran. Delays again tonight. 30mn wait for a train. Fire at streatham and some other train delayed due to no driver. Can't they get a sodding grip?
  22. Not too bad going to East Dulwich actually. Or I might just have got lucky. Hopefully not a sign of things to come in the next couple of years...
  23. No need to go anywhere near or check before you travel.
  24. Was it that bad? Well, doing an extended trip morning and evening every day was bad enough but to top it all up, there was yet another signal failure in the Sydenham area on thursday and some of us got left at Canada water without much information. Journey home ended up taking over 1h30. Good thing I did not have to pick up my daughter. I get that it's all necessary but the problems yesterday started really grating with me.
