  1. East Dulwich is becoming a French person's dream. EDD, Gail's, Paul... Bliss.
  2. Some cars had the word: "DIE" written on them. Nice!
  3. A number of cars on Dunstans road have got white paint on them this morning. The pots seem to have been left at the corner of underhill and upland road where another car was also smeared. Might be useful info if someone calls the neighbourhood police team. Tks.
  4. That's not good ED citizenship! Maybe worth a new thread asking people to reject the places they don't need?
  5. I'd go for breakfast at Smith of Smithfield and then off to a movie at the Barbican Cinema. Been wanting to try out the Bliss spa too for a long time but never get around to it. I also love Dr Boo on Northcross Road but have not been since I had my girl four years ago! I used to loooove it. These two would definitely been on my list. I would also go to Portobello Road, Marylebone High Street, Bond Street (Fenwick), King's Road. Also second Columbia Road Flower Market followed by bagels on Brick Lane.
  6. The marketing story is one thing but the results are not great. Only 38 per cent of pupils left the school with the required level in English and maths last year. Previous year's results were better but well below the LA average. Even by value add, the school is bottom of the Southwark league table. The last head improved the school a lot - or so I hear/ read - and the new one will, I am sure, continue to improve it, but this is a school which has a way to go. The Standard recently reported that Langbourne will get an influx of volunteer reading mentors, whih should indeed help a lot.
  7. Sorry, just realised you were talking pre-school. I was talking about reception. Having said that, we never got our letter for pre-school last year. I had to phone up to find out and thrn declined the place anyway. You should chase but don'torry too much!
  8. All we got is a letter from Southwark...
  9. Resurrecting this post from Pickle. If your cleaner is brilliant and looking for more work, please let me know! Tks!
  10. Been back at work ft since baby was four months. 7.30am to 5.00pm (as I have to pick up). What I can't cope with is the feeling of exhaustion that never leaves me. My company is against part time or home working. Currently thinking of getting another job but really worried they won't let me go at 5.00pm? Interested to her your views on whether to mention it at interview or wait until I start?
  11. Goodness me - I would not want my daughter to mix with that crowd. Give me a south London comp over a school for uber privileged people anytime.
  12. Log onto the eadmission website. It's all there even though I did not get the email! We got Goodrich but then we live opposite so I was not too worried. Good luck to everyone!
  13. I would not have wanted to be anywhere else when I had my daughter. Fantastic midwives and ob gyn. Post natal ward a different story but nothing to worry about.
  14. We have a 3 1/2 year old and looking for somewhere to eat that's fun and that's not Pizza Express, Si Mangia, My Big Fat Greek. We can drive. Any ideas? Tks!
  15. A new Gail's bakery in Dulwich.
  16. What others have said. Too many pearls.
  17. We live opposite goodrich and no problem whatsoever. I like the buzz, i like seeing the kids go to school and being picked up. It puts a bit of life in our very residential streets.
  18. What Pickle says... Not a worry at all in our household. We read lots of anti princess stories because they balance things out a bit : the paperbag princess, the worst princess, the princess and the peas etc...
  19. It was the same for ours and there was a two-month gap between her being dry and her becoming clean. We tried very hard but really I think she did it when she was ready ( two days before she started pre-school!) she had a good friend at nursery who was clean before her, they went to the loo together (as they do!), and I think it did help. Arm yourself with patience ... and lots of pants!
  20. Tks all. I need all day unfortunately. Will be working the phones tomorrow! Tks.
  21. I am looking for a holiday club for w/c 25 march for my three and a half year old daughter. The Dulwich College Fit for Sport club only does half days for her age group so not good for us. Any ideas? Tks and happy Mother's Day to all ED Forum mums!
  22. Blimey - did not think parents still saw things that way! My mil said to me recently that she could not possibly have worked since her husband can't even find his pants. I now think of her as the Chief Pants Finder!
  23. Have you tried Asquiths?
  24. Never managed to get a reading that looked half right with ear thermometer. Now using a digital one (?5) where the sun does not shine like. It works!
  25. There is a fairly long trail of blood down Dunstans Road this morning. Any one knows what happened?
