Pelvic floor....or what's left of it
Monkey replied to Life After Babies's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I guess what I meant is exercise with someone who knows about post baby bodies like Goodliz for example. Goodliz, i am in dire need of exercise. Might call you soon. VCh, symptoms are stress incontinence when you cough, sneeze, run etc...., sensation that "things" are "falling out" like something pushing down your vagina. Not nice! -
Pelvic floor....or what's left of it

And please be careful when exercising at the gym. I think things like the leg press and some abdominals exercises have really made things worse for me. Take advice from your physio. -

Yes, plenty of us. When I sent the meeting invitation for the physio talk at work, I had an overwhelming response rate within minutes! Women of all ages. I am thinking of surgery too if my problems don't improve as much as I want. Sorry, no insight to offer except there's a really good uro gyne at King's called dr Bidmead. Best of luck. You are NOT alone. -

No surgery here but doing lots of squeezes and various exercises with a physio. And it's working ok. Have you actually seen a physio or someone about it? I am very open about it. Even got my physio to give a talk at my office! Had lots of thank yous for it! -
man befriending child in peckham rye park
Monkey replied to yummumbums's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yummumbums - I am really shocked by some of the responses too... There are a lot of parents who are very confident about their parenting skills... Here's a story for them. When I was 15, a stranger tried to get me into his car. And no, it was not an innocent lift. His eyes and mannerism said it all. My parents' warnings helped me go into automatic pilot, step away from the car, walk away... So far so good. However, me the good girl, streetwise and mature beyond her years, kept this completely secret, never told anyone until years later. I was ashamed (why I don't know), feared upsetting my parents, causing them to worry, to be sad... 20 years later, this reaction seems irrational. I can't really explain it. I sure wish I had spoken up. Kids don't always behave rationally. On another note, Dulwich2 girl, your comments about Megan are really quite obnoxious. -

This case is nothing to do with a society in which we have to besuspicious of everyone and everything. A 51-year-old befriending an 11-year-old in any day and age is wrong and suspicious, full stop. This should be reported to the police immediately. -
Accident on Loardship Lane at Dulwich Library

I hope all is well. Poor thing! -
I give up - I have far too much to do. Maybe a more responsible citizen than me will do that. I have found a small surgery with a good level of patient satisfaction. I rang them up and phone was picked within two rings. Amazing. Bye, bye DMC - you have been really ****!
-
The PCT's priority seems to make sure I get to see someone so they keep directing me to the Lister and informing me of all the services available in the area. PCT also got in touch with the surgery and I got a letter from the practice manager saying they are short staffed due to a number of female staff on maternity leave. To me, this is a lame excuse. They should take on more locums and if they can't, they should at least stop registering patients. To me, it looks like a prime example of a surgery being allowed to maximise profits woth a complete disregard for patients. Agree with SebS - the surgery is ever so quiet each time I visit. Sometimes I am one of two patients in the waiting room! I would be interested to find out how many GPs are actually working there each day.
-
I complain to the PCT on a regular basis pointing out that the surgery does not seem to be able to serve its patients, yet is still registering new patients.

I am voting with m feet this time. Hubby was initially told no appointments available today at about 8.40am and when he got annoyed, they miraculously found him a slot. This is no way to run a surgery. Absolutely unacceptable. The highly-paid people responsible for this mess should be ashamed.
-
Unfortunately it is impossible to make an appointment at DMC. Husband has been trying to make an appointment for two days now.
-
Absolutely impossible to get through to the DMC (Crystal Palace Road) this morning. Anybody there who can tell me what's happening? Greed coupled with inefficiency perhaps?

Thank you all for your advice. I now speak to her in French exclusively - this is hard! - and she seems to understand me. She even treated me to a "merci, maman" when I bribed her with camembert tonight(why worry - she seems to be a French girl at heart!) unfortunately I cannot take her to Cadet Roussell as she is at school full time but I have heard only good things about it. I will take your advice and buy lots of French books. The ones I have are so naff (Tchoupi!) that I had put them aside. But buying the gruffalo and other gems in French seems like a good solution. Thank you again.

Anyone out there with tips on bilingual children? My daughter, who's just turned three, does not ever say anything in French. I am French, my husband is English and she goes to English school full time so English is the dominant language. I try to speak to her in French as much as I can but most of the time I have no idea which language I am speaking (been over here for 16 years) so I do slip back into English often. I am concerned that she won't be able to strike a relationship with my parents when we next visit. Starting to feel I have left it too late... Looking for people who have been in a similar situation but have managed to turn things around. Tks.

Ah yes Esme but the Bright Horizons list is one big mess! I gave up on them when they never answered my calls! I am still angry about it three years later.

Well when you do a quick, tiny trim (for example) - do not charge full price. I felt robbed last time I visited. Listen to what the parents want. I have been told by little clipper to let my daughter's hair grow. Great in theory but she could not see for all the hair falling in front of her face and hair clips never last very long - most impractical for school - my hairdresser worked out a lovely fringe for her.

I take mine to GM's on Melbourne Grove. GBP10 and I think they're better.
-
I think you should have a word with her teachers. I don't really care what teachers are allowed to do (or think they are allowed) to do or not. There's also something called common sense.

Incident at pharmacy in Dulwich village
Monkey replied to sammygnw23's topic in The Family Room Discussion
The owner has always been good to me. On my first visit, he allowed me to get some baby milk which I needed and pay later when I realised I had forgotten my purse. I can't imagine he was one of the two men you mentioned and my gut instinct is that he would take a very dim view of their behaviour. Why don't you write to him? Mind you, this thread will most probably come to his attention. I do hope you get an apology and that your little one is ok. -
Mine was too last year and took it all in! She loved it. We're going back tomorrow.

Is three the right age if there is such a thing as the right age? I did not learn until I was six but that was in France...
