  1. You're right buggie. I am sure my hv informed me otherwise but I had just given birth so who knows. What is certain though is that my hv never returned my calls! :-) sorry everyone for giving the wrong info.
  2. It's probably gone fungal. Depending on Miss Oi's age, you might be able to get some Canesten over the counter. Speak to your pharmacist. If that's not possible, you can go to the Lister drop in centre in Peckham and ask to see a GP. I would not bother with health visitors for a nasty nappy rash. Most of them have no medical qualifications.
  3. Theo Felix Cassius Conal
  4. I do. Tks, Townleygreen..
  5. It's official: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-19354423
  6. And forget about the Dulwich Medical Practice on Crystal Palace Road. Minimum waiting time for an appointment: 3-4 weeks. Used to be better but a complete shambles now. And you never get to see the same doctor. Do family doctors really still exist? :-)
  7. We got a huge fine a few years ago because Southwark Council had apparently send us multiple reminders which we never got... My hunch at the time was that those letters had never been sent to us in the first place but I could not prove it. I was heavily pregnant at the time so paid up when I eventually got a letter through the post. Had I not been, I would have looked into it a bit more closely.
  8. Agree with e erything MattH says. And go and get a carbon monoxide detector right now. Do not wait.
  9. Have you been in touch with the council? Don't bother with noise team. Go directly to asbo team and be very clear that it is their problem to sort out.
  10. When our baby was a year old, we went to Greece for 10 days and baby was asleep in her pushchair by 8. We went to restaurants most night and had a lovely, quiet time. By two, this had become more difficult so on our second holiday we ate at home most nights, sometimes ordering from a nearby restaurants.very cosy. Now at nearly three, we go on mark warne holidays, get her to eat first, and let her play with the iPad while we have a quiet dinner! Dunno about other package holidays but this is not a pb at all with mark Warner Both options a and b sound good and you can alternate. Your child will probably come up leaps and bonds - mine always does on holiday. So relax and enjoy!
  11. Can't offer advice on insurance. However would advise getting advice from a structural engineer rather than a chartered surveyor (who in my experience merely point out the pretty obvious!)
  12. That's completely normal. They always behave super well at nursery, copying the other children. And at home they let their hair down. I used to be an angel all day with my childminder and turn into a handful as soon as my mum arrived! So it's far from being a new trend. On the shyness, my daughter went from being a super confident toddler to a fairly reserved child. This happened gradually over the past 8-10 months I would say. Her shyness is not hindering her and, after the initial surprise, we now just think that she is reserved and that's ok. And yours is only 18 months. Who knows what she will be like in a year's time? You're worrying unduly. And that's because you're a mum!
  13. I am with the dulwich medical centre on crystal palace road. It used to be a good practice but it is now next to impossible to make an appointment. It's becoming a real problem. See the thread in the general section of the forum. Apart from that, The midwives are fab and I liked my health visitors on townley road very much.
  14. Trust your instinct. Is she happy there? Does she seem to like the staff? Do they love her? Greet her enthusiastically when she gets in? At two, a loving and nurturing environment is what she needs. If you think she is bored, and as she is coming up to two, it could well be that she's "outgrown" her current room and is more than ready to move on to the next age group. A lot of nurseries have one single room for the 0 to 2 and it's one hell of a huge age gap. I would have a chat with the manager if I were you and see if they can speed things up a bit. You could also meet with the staff looking after the 2+ and ask them about their day-to-day activities. And hopefully they won't look at you blankly. Don't worry too much about the notes - mine has tonnes and I feel uncomfortable seeing how she is constantly watched amd assessed from such a young age. Let kids be kids!
  15. Ruth, This sounds absolutely horrid. As someone who really does not cope well with lack of sleep, I really sympathise. I don't have much advice to give you unfortunately, except to say that now might be time to go back to the sleep clinic, explain that you have a bedtime routine in place and that the problem seems to be elsewhere. There has to be a solution. As for other comments on how to cope at work, I actually fell asleep during a meeting last week (would not recommend it but it provided my colleagues with much entertainment). Must have been a few seconds but after that I was wide awake!
  16. We have a childminder picking up our daughter from DUCKS. I thought we'd have a nightmare finding someone but it's been relatively easy. You could advertise on the East Dulwich and West Dulwich Forum as well as on your shool notice board. It could be that some of the teachers/assistants would be happy to do after school childcare. Good luck.
  17. Really? All the ones I visited: excel, asquiths, bright horizons and gumboots offer freshly cooked meals. Daughter is at asquiths and the food is really yummy. My daughter calls the cook her " best friend"!
  18. I can't recommend Asquith Peckham Rye highly enough. Great staff, very low staff turnover, great premises and fantastic, hands on manager.
  19. How about the chiropodist on Woodward road by Dulwich library?
  20. That's really good compared to DMC where the nearest appointment available is usually three weeks away! But I agree: not ideal.
  21. Does DUCKS take childcare vouchers? Tks!
  22. Work for the holidays! I would have thought teachers would just recommend a bit of reading every day at this age. How ridiculous! I agree a chat with the teacher is needed.
  23. I am grateful it's not coming to East Dulwich!
  24. Silly me. Check out Powerpramming.co.uk. 12.30pm om Mondays and 10.00am on Thursdays. I think it's still drop in but to be confirmed. Can't remember the price.
