  1. My husband does the nursery run in the morning and I do the evening run. He cooks dinner every day while I take care of the evening routine (bath, stories...) We have a cleaning and an ironing lady. We shop together at the weekend. I find it's a good balance.
  2. That's really good.:) Takes much longer at DMC.
  3. It's standard and completely wrong. It is well known that the more you keep in their face, the more you call them to reiterate your interest will help you secure a place.
  4. Simone, don't be upset. My nearly three year old has been in nursery full time since she was 4 1/2 months. She's now at two different nurseries and loves it. Always has. She pushes us away in the morning. We're cramping her style! I don't read research papers. I just look at The children at my nursery and they're all happy, chatty, bouncy and confident little things. They're also firm friends and it's lovely getting to know the parents. Don't worry and do what feels right for you and your little one!
  5. I wish I could agree with you fuchsia. But I do think there is a pb with the actual care. I am lucky if the drs spend two mns with me. Each time I seem to get hassled drs who are rushed off their feet. And all I need really is a referral to a private consultant. so I am hardly a drag on precious nhs resources. This calling at 8.00am is not a workable solution. I have to be in the office for 7.30am. What if I wait at home and call them only to be told there's no appointment like it's happened in the past when I was ill? How much of my time do they want to waste?
  6. There used to be a nursery which did not have long opening hours (therefore cheaper) and took children from people on low income and university students. Can't remember the name? Can someone remember?
  7. Try excel on Forest Hill Rosd.
  8. Thanks fuschia. Will try that but it's not a long term solution. And ratty, even if gps made half the money they got under labour, I'd still expect them to provide a better service than they do now. My doctor in France does home visits, answers her own phone and writes her own reference letters. She makes a fraction of what dr Gupta makes and provides a far superior service.
  9. Interesting they had a slot on Friday for you but nothing for my husband until 10th May and 3rd May for me. And that's after they cancelled me because a GP had gone off sick. I agree reception staff is polite. But, to be honest, if they were rude as well as being unable to give me an appointment, I think that would just make matters worse. I just want to see the Drs in charge of this practice deliver the service they are paid for.
  10. DMC now advising people to turn up to try and see a GP rather than call. Waiting room constantly empty as far as I can see. Nearest appointment today is 10th May. If you, like me, are finding it increasingly difficult to get even a 2mn slot with a GP at DMC, please email your complaint to: [email protected]
  11. She's still little. If having milk with her friends makes her happy, i would continue. My nearly three year old is still drinking gallons of milk everyday. We now cut it with water but hardly ever did until she turned two. My daughter has been at nursery since she was four months. I have always gone with their advice which has been consistently good. It's also good for the kids to all follow the same routine to avoid them becoming upset.
  12. And You certainly have not failed! Whatever the method of delivery, the important thing is for baby and you to be healthy. Which you will be. King's is excellent and you will be looked after. Agree with fuchsia re: epidural.
  13. How about maxi skirts and maxi dresses? Maybe from American Apparel?
  14. I would think so. I have lodged a complaint with the PCT. enough is enough.
  15. Would be okay (ish) if at least an explanation was given!
  16. I am currently with the DMC on Crystal Palace Road and starting to suspect they have no GPs left. Receptionists try and discourage me to make appointments in advance ("why don't you call first thing in the morning and make an appointMent for the same day?") because the nearest available slot is usually more than three weeks away. And when I call in the morning, I can't get through for an hour by which time there is no emergency appointment Enough is enough. I have decided to switch. Has anyone got experience of the 306 Medical Centre on Lordship Lane? Are the doctors good? more importantly, is it possible to see a doctor when you need to? Thank you in advance.
  17. Yet again, I could not make an appointment for my daughter today. Receptionist told us to go to the Lister. Last time I booked an appointment for myself, they could not see me for three or four weeks. What is the point of this surgery? Like another poster mentioned, I too was surprised to see the waiting room empty on a day that I was initially refused an appointment before being given one when I mentioned I was short of breath.
  18. Which gives you awful back pain and sore throat? Any tips before I see the doc much appreciated.
  19. My condolences, Karen. I never had the chance to talk to your dad but I was more than once witness to the complicity between him and Jed. These were lovely moments. Take care.
  20. Stay at home. Really annoys me when people make everything as inconvenient (and costly) as can be for their guests because "it's their day." especially given the fact that your hubby's a usher and presumably already putting a bit of effort in "their big day."
  21. A tip: the receptionists at the dmc will get you to put your name on a list that they are supposed to give to the midwives to register you. In reality, this list tends to get lost. Happened to me. Make sure you follow up with a phone call to The Lanes within the week.
  22. Another recommendation for The Lanes at Dulwich Medical Centre. You need to go and register tomorrow morning. They get booked up very quickly. The practice to avoid at all costs is the Melbore Grove Practice.
  23. Definitely get yourseld referred to the sleep clinic at King's. It's not good for her or for you. I hear the sleep clinic is amazing. I am sure they'll sort it out. Good luck.
  24. Leave the talc alone! What cream are you using? Metanium is great to deal with an outbreak. You only a pea size bit and you need to spread it very thin. Don't hesitate to go and see the gp. It could have one fungal.
