  1. Temporary lights? What is this about? I've lived on Colyton for 3 years and on Ryedale for 2 before that and they have been there ever since? What,s the betting that the ED Road/Peckham Rye works over run and it takes 30 mins to travel what should be less than a 2 minute journey?
  2. I read today that Southern are introducing sleeper carriages next month given the length of delays between Peckham Rye and London Bridge.
  3. Wow been areound here 5 years and haven't tried half these place so much quality and choice. Any chance admin could put a survey up here we can vote on?
  4. Just think, next season you won't have too far to travel to Milwall, Palace, Charlton...! :)
  5. You could also give yourself a laugh and join @Southern_Trains...don't do what I did tho and think its an official feed. Typical tweet "All Southern services will be back to normal tomorrow ie late AND packed".
  6. Nothing running on time from PR to either London Bridge or Vic expect major delays at the mo
  7. Way to go identifying exactly where the local women's refuge is
  8. As a Colyton Road resident, I would be happy for the council to set up a north only route and a south only route down the full length of each side the Rye and allow traffic to divert down Colyton Road. Even if this was only for busses it would make a difference and reduce the junctions to 3 way (I think rather than 4 way would also improve flow, wouldn't it?). You could also shift some through Barry Road and onto LL via a number of back routes which would ease congestion and make it less dangerous as people get through quicker and less frustrated at their lack of progress.
  9. I'd also support an extension, and a survey, and I don't think that the chunk of people on this "here" forum can be assumed to speak for all of those who would have a voice. In the event that there is a day or two every year or two when it snows and the hill becomes impassible, I think we could live with that. I would say, while I appreciate people see this as SE London's equivalent of the north face of the Eiger, I've been up enough narrow winding roads in France and Austria enough times on enough busses during snowy conditions we very rarely see here, to suspect that if we can't get a bus up and around the corner its more to do with TFL's barely trained bus drivers than the busses themselves.
  10. Well I consider myself well and trully told off Tony Quin! I did read some but I just didn't have the time for the full 6 pages to be honest, but anyway, thanks for your helpful sign - posting. Hope you have a happy day!
  11. Why is a double decker unacceptable? Surely an extra 5 mins journey for the 63 is the most easy, sensible and straightforward option? I still can't understand why TFL and Boris keep knocking this back. It would be especially welcome at the moment for those that have to get through the mess at the bottom end of Forest Hill Road to get to Peckham Rye/London Bridge.
  12. Good on them having a go and good luck. What happened to the ?400k renovations to the street furniture along this stretch of Forest Hill Road?
  13. Is this a huge cock up that can be sorted out quickly or do Southwark Council not give a hoot so much about travel they think all this disruption and delay is all worth it?
  14. Play nicely! Tis the season and all that (or at least was!) Back to subject in hand, isn't there a TFL/Southwark Council policy to slow down traffic on London streets? Otherwise I'm not sure that they could justify the continual gold plating and over investment in the road/street infrastructure. I think there is a general view on this forum that anyone who doesn't ride a fixed wheel or s Brompton and uses four wheels instead is some kind of Jeremy Clarkson type/sociopath with no regard for women, children, small animals, yurts and rain forests. Which is a shame as some people don't have a real choice. London's public transport is fantastic but there are occasions when alternatives need to be used. If this is a car then surely the journey should be as easy as possible, not as difficult as it could be?
  15. Not sure I would necessarily agree that there is finite money in the local economy. Surely if a developer invests in the site they would pump in a good few quid which has probably come from their account outside of the area. This investment will deliver jobs in terms of the re development and then on an ongoing basis to operate the site. I might even decide to get off my lazy arse and walk to the supermarket and spend there, rather than buy over the Internet where my money probably ends up in some offshore tax haven in Tuvalu or Ireland. Fair enough if the comments have been aimed a little too personally at James I'll apologise. I'm not a Lib Dem but work brings me into contact wih a number of politicians - I do think kudos should be given to James for his proactive and consistent outreach to his constituents and for better or worse he does express a view and an opinion when many of our electeds hide behind spin and bland PR. It's rare and to be applauded. I do think that some basis for the opinion should be with full knowledge of the facts in hand tho, otherwise we might as well go and ask the next person we're stood by at the bus stop for all the use it would be. At best it comes across as I'll informed gossip, at worst it could make one wonder if there is another agenda at play here.
  16. I think we could do with a mega size estate agent the nearest one is at least 100 yards away
  17. I don't think the parking is that bad to be a nightmare. I'm sure it won't help the situation but these things are always a balance. Additional choice, some extra jobs, help to upgrade some buildings that are unused and actually more convenience than the current crappy offerings from co op or tesco wouldn't go amiss. And not sure it's a councillors role to be prejudicing planning applications by labelling them as "fishy" or a " nightmare" before all the facts are in, is it? Would you also help co ordinate supporters James? What if it's a cinema? A bowling alley? A new garden centre? Or the mythical Waitrose or M&S that it might be said you have otherwise championed elsewhere? Still, being a Lib Dem doesn't really require an adherence to facts, truths or not going back on previously stated policy positions, does it?
  18. I'd be happy with a Wagga on the doorstep too. It would be a shame that some of our local independents would have to up their game in terms of quality of food, better service and a good look at their prices, but hey, I could just about live with that sacrifice...
  19. Michael Palaeologus Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The idea of an extension to the Bakerloo line is > great, but very expensive and so not going to > happen in our lifetimes. You might want to ask those people who have to drive - I'm sure that most people who don't use public transport every day for every trip, drive out of choice - I certainly don't. There are people who have to drive as public transport won't get them to where they need to be, or back again, quickly, or convenientlty enough. I appreciate cars etc have their down sides but a broader view on this rather than a biased myopic tree hugging frenzy by those that live and work within a 3 mile radius of their homes would refreshing.
  20. Copy and paste from the Tram Power PR dept James? An explanation of the potential benefits to residents would be handy. In would imagine that would be the first place to start, though perhaps the reason why none are stated above is obvious. To your point about why should Brits be any less capable civil engineers? Well who knows, but the evidence is there that we aren't - why did the cost of Wembley, the Olympics infrastructure, not to mention Cross Link, the Jubilee line (one could go on) spiral so fantastically out of control?
