Bad dog owners (dogs mess)
DJKillaQueen replied to toomuchchocolate's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Who'd ever think a thread about a load of poo could be so entertaining? Many dog owners scoop the poop and bin it (imagine the what the streets would be like if they didn't)...others train their pooches to only deficate where it will be broken down by living organisms to compost the ground below it (a perfectly natural organic process). I wonder what the fishes and river and sea life think of all the human sh1t being pumped into the Thames everyday? -

lol yep it is 12% steak, 9% onion and the rest is pastry and other vegetables. Tastes loverly lol. -
The message clearly is to 'shop around'. Yes there's a market in EDF that caters to or takes advantage of (depending on how you look at it) ED's yuppy/ yummy mummy/ middle class residents. But there are plenty of other shops near enough that cater to other demographic groups. What I would say though is that the middle classes do forget sometimes that ED is not just for them, that there is a diverse community across the area and that local shops, events, services etc should reflect that. Businesses on the other hand, are there to make money and so naturally will target those likely to pay most for what they offer. But it is annoying when something like the Cafe in Rye Park is too expensive for the majority of people who use the park to go to. I quite like Northcross Road market being there, but shop elsewhere because prefer better value when spending money. But do also like the diversity of ED and it's residents.

I recommend Iceland's frozen steak and onion pies too (2 for ?1).......lovely with green beans, mash and gravy! -
I've just finished reading a book called 'Injustice' by Professor Danny Dorling. In it he claims that the richest people in the capital have 273 times the wealth of the poorest and argues that is a gap not seen since the times of slave-owning society. London is the most unequal region of the country (but that's true of most capital cities). The various layers and non-existence of bridges or connections between them have always disturbed me. It's as though London is several cities co-existing in between each other.

Maybe Fuschia would prefer a world where people and businesses do as they please.....after who cares about local residents and other businesses? Fortunately licensing authorities and the law does. -

Yes and the changes to the licence referenced in those minutes apply in no part to a change in the terms of sale of alcohol. It was an application to extend the types of use and acivities only. I do think Nick at DH has confused the term of 'light refreshment' with 'sale of alcohol' and have pm'd him to point that out. That may well just be a genuine mistake for not understanding the licence but one that he should now correct with no more 'late' bars (or advertising of such). As for windows, shutters, music, noise etc, there can be no misunderstanding of the licence terms and any failure to abide so far can only be interpreted as deliberate. No representative of DH (as far as I am aware) has posted on this thread but yet the licence holder has wrongly informed both an event promoter and readers on another. Bizarre when the license is online for everyone to see for themselves. -

On another thread Nick claims to have a licence til 1am but he doesn't. He has a light refreshment licence til 1am but the alcohol licence is only until 11pm. I've posted his licence on here. If he thinks he can sell alcohol until 1am he is in breach of that licence. The Licensing Act 2003 defines 'light refreshment' as: The Act defines that a person provides ?late night refreshment? if he or she sells hot food or hot drink to members of the public or a section of the public between 11.00.p.m. and 5.00.a.m. from any premises irrespective of whether the food or drink is to be consumed on the premises or off the premises. That is why sale of alcohol is covered by separate restictions. -
Some mammals are very aware of themselves - which must mean they live. Dolphins for example recognise themselves in a mirror, and like apes and elephants mourn the deaths of each other. All life depends on eating, mating and staying alive. Humans are no different to other animals in that respect. Just because we fill our heads will all kinds of nonsense and can build and do other things doesn't mean we live any fuller lives than an animal. After all a dolphin is just as happy swimming all day as we are doing something we find pleasurable all day. It's possibly even valid to argue that because so much of what we humans do is not enjoyable nor has any real purpose, that we in fact are not living life as full as animals are.

Yes it is part of licensing. Most late bar licences require door star after a certain hour (usually 10pm). -

That's fair enough Sue....you are quite right...it is Nick's problem not yours. Within the context of the thread though it is important that local residents know what licence is held and that DH abide by it. To be fair, this thread wouldn't exist if DH did - so they bring it on themselves. And the OP has had the pleasant suprise of finding that they don't have to put up with ANY late night disturbance by DH. Until Nick (who is the license holder) can provide evidence that they have different alcohol and music licensing terms to those shown on license number 828551 then it can only be assumed that DH knowingly breach their licence. And if a licensing inspector sees that they could lose it altogether. It does matter that licenses are enforced. -

The do NOT have a late bar licence. The licence was granted May 22nd 2009. They can serve light refreshment but not alcohol past 11pm. Opening hours: Monday 10:00 to 23:00 Tuesday 10:00 to 23:00 Wednesday 10:00 to 23:00 Thursday 10:00 to 00:00 Friday 09:00 to 01:30 Saturday 09:00 to 01:30 Sunday 12:00 to 01:00 Granted licensable activities: Facilities for dancing - indoors Monday 07:00 to 21:00 Tuesday 07:00 to 21:00 Wednesday 07:00 to 21:00 Thursday 07:00 to 21:00 Late night refreshment - indoors Thursday 23:00 to 00:00 Friday 23:00 to 01:00 Saturday 23:00 to 01:00 Sunday 22:30 to 01:00 Live music - indoors and outdoors Friday 19:00 to 00:00 Saturday 19:00 to 00:00 Sunday 19:00 to 23:00 Performance of dance - indoors Friday 19:00 to 00:00 Saturday 19:00 to 00:00 Sunday 19:00 to 21:30 Plays - indoors Friday 19:00 to 22:00 Saturday 19:00 to 22:00 Sunday 19:00 to 22:00 Sale by retail of alcohol to be consumed on premises Monday 10:00 to 23:00 Tuesday 10:00 to 23:00 Wednesday 10:00 to 23:00 Thursday 10:00 to 23:00 Friday 10:00 to 23:00 Saturday 10:00 to 23:00 Sunday 12:00 to 22:30 -

According to Southwark licensing register (where ALL licences are registered) there is only ONE licence with no late bar provision (the link to which I posted earlier). The licence allows him to be open to 1.30 fri and sat but it does NOT allow him to sell alcohol past 11pm or to have music past midnight. That is the issue. He is also required to have the windows sut and the shutters down at 10.30pm. It's the alcohol and music part of the licence that is the issue here. HE DOES NOT HAVE A LATE BAR LICENCE. Sale by retail of alcohol to be consumed on premises Monday 10:00 to 23:00 Tuesday 10:00 to 23:00 Wednesday 10:00 to 23:00 Thursday 10:00 to 23:00 Friday 10:00 to 23:00 Saturday 10:00 to 23:00 Sunday 12:00 to 22:30 -
I had UPS deliver a parcel to me last week. I hadn't ordered anything but signed for it and then called the sender, to find that it was meant for another address (so it was a genuine mistake, not fraud)- they emailed me the correct label and sent a courier to collect it - which is what any company will do if you are sent a parcel by mistake. So never hand anything you've signed for over to a stranger.

Camerons plans to reform social housing.
DJKillaQueen replied to DJKillaQueen's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Trust me, there was huge debate and controversy about the social home programme for the E&C development. Nick Stanton even appeared on the Politics Show to be grilled about it. His view was that an area so close to central London could not be so poor, so read into that what you will...he clearly thinks most homes in E&C should be private (whether bought or rented) and that the poor should live elsewhere in the borough. At the time plans were drawn up, we had a Conservative Councillor in charge of housing and of course Nick, a Lib Dem council leader who broadly agrees with Conservative policy on the free market and Housing. It's a consequence of that. In my own ward, Labour regained control precisely because of local Lib Dem policy on housing but with coming cuts I think the new Council will have little scope for doing anything differently tbh. Without funding, private investment is the only option for new developments...so councils prefer to give planning permission in return for a certain percentage of guaranteed affordable homes (often part buy part rent schemes), rather than build themselves - with instead Housing Associations brought in to part invest. It's also estimated that there are 5000 empty/ unused properties in Southwark at any one time and most councillors agree that there should be some mechanism to forceably bring them into use. It would go a long way to helping reduce waiting lists (far more than means testing existing residents every so number of years for example) and again, the only explanation I can give for government not enabling something like that is that we have a culture accross all parties that dislikes interfering with the free market at any cost....especially anything that might deflate or slow the housing market (although to be fair to Cameron, he has asked the FSA to draw up plans to do exactly that). -

No I won't cut it out...the rules apply to everyone. DH can NOT sell aclohol after 11pm .....end of. They can't have music after midnight...end of. NO exceptions. And if they want to keep their license they need to start abiding by it. -

We spent a summer looking for a suitable local venue after we were kicked out of the EDT without warning, we were lucky enough to find DHFC, and we've spent over two years building up the Goose. Where you regularly break the terms of the license according to your own website (and clearly think you should be able to from your comments).....late bar with record of 3am? By all means use the venue but also respect the rules. If you want to apply for an extended licence for your gigs only you can do so (although they are limited to a certain number per year per venue). Given the nature of the music at your gigs you probably would be successful but I doubt the shutter rule would be lifted. That's the compromise of being in an Urban area. -

At least I have breasts! *waits for another smack in the gob* Oh and the scarf must the be same size as a club one and with NO dropped stitches. And must be made with ?5 or less of wool (can't be done even at poundland prices). Donated wool is not allowed. LOL........

Street crime always rises in the summer and on warm evenings so if this thread just makes one person avoid being a victim because they thought about it and applied common sense then it's a good thing. 'Bestnames' are you on a mission to troll at the moment? lol......
-
HA HA...if you manage to knit a Hamlet scarf for less than a fiver then I will run topless once around the pitch..........lol
-
LM you will probably find the cost of the wool more than the fiver it costs to buy one and you'll drop so many stitches anyway it'll look [email protected] Jason...they've got a website with the matches on. I think the first one is the 24th 7.30 kick off. Weegee started a thread too with all this seasons homes games listed.
