  1. Thanks. Yes, I tried googling him of course. Nothing came up for his name. Thanks everyone!
  2. Ooh that sounds interesting. I'll look for that form!
  3. Dodecahedron
  4. Is it illegal to open a letter sent to your address delivered through your letterbox but the name is someone you have never heard of even if you've lived there over twenty years? I have done just this, only to find the letter was from Revenue Protection Support Services demanding money off someone for travelling on the train without the right fare. They want ?18. I wrote to the company and said this person does not live here and now they've written back ignoring the letter saying they'll take this person to court. I checked websites and one says it is illegal to open a letter not addressed to you. But I did not know that when I opened the letters and anyway, I didn't ignore it - I did reply to the company. Also, I never believe what debt collection agencies tell me, such as private parking area companies. Anyway, anyone know the facts here?
  5. I am not going anywhere on a motorcycle in this weather. It's the only weather I won't go out on the bike, mind. But it is essential I work for my living but the Special Delivery package containing my time-sensitive work has not arrived three DAYS after it was sent. It is essential it travels to my door. It is then essential I use public transport to do it which takes about four times as long as on the bike. It is essential I go out tonight to see the excellent Pete And Dud In The Afterlife at Croydon Ashfcroft Theatre (on 7.30 tonight and tomorrow only). A 197 from the Cl;ockhouse and leave about 11.am, yes? I have seen it in a very early incarnation. Hysterical. And essential I see Kim Noble tomorrow at Soho Theatre. I got tickets is why and the reviews are fab! Last night for this is on Sunday I think. And other than that I agree with everything womanofdulwich said but theatre / comedy is essential! Speially when I bought tickets already!
  6. Don't forget to check on your elderly neighbours though!
  7. I am told you should not take ibruprofen if you have asthma or lung problems, but it's fine with me. So when I am asked at the counter I say I do not have asthma or they won't sell it me. People think all asthmatics are allergic to cats, though. So there's no telling some people.
  8. Queen Night at the Opera should been in there. And XTC's Drums and Wires obviously. And 10CC's Original Soundtrack. I'd have laughed my face off if they'd have included Never Mind the Bollocks, and the queen's head sitting there in the corner. But I got most of 'them.
  9. I can second the idea of changing the channel (I'm with BT) but remembering how to do it is a pain!
  10. I must go see that! Stick around for a photo MrPR just took from our bedroom window...!
  11. Oh you're too kind, anyway, she was fine. Phew!
  12. Thanks for the dig. I got an elderly neighbour, and I'll check on her shortly.
  13. There are heaps of posts about this on another thread but I will add that I saw Mayor Boris yesterday talking about a London train circle route which would include I would have thought Victoria to London Bridge, so why get rid of it. Anyway, search for the other thread.
  14. Oh now that's interesting. I hardly ever use public transport but am having to when it snows. I thought the system capped no matter what the method of transport. I'll remember to queue for ages and buy a paper ticket! What thieving idiots!
  15. Fab photo! And indeed we should keep it quiet tho those snobs up Primrose Hill think they have the best view of London, we know different. From Dawson Heights we can see from Battersea Power Station round to beyond Canary Wharf. And it looks right, too. They see it the wrong way round! Looking forward to seeing more photos on this thread when the snow settles of the views from your windows even if it;'s snow settled on a squirrel or something.
  16. I'm still gonna eat sensibly and walk more.
  17. Doubled up in pain. You need ibruprofen you do. 34p for 16 tablets. All major supermarkets and pharmacy chains sell them. No need for fancy branded companies and added extras. A study* showed men find the expensive dressed up branded ones worked best. Women said they did not. *I saw a documentary on telly about it so it must be true.
  18. Oooh you rebel! I smell gas from there every time I bomb past. I mean, "proceed at a sensible speed".
  19. Come on kids, he just said don't believe the pharma hype. Leave it there. SO what if he is plugging his book. He said he had written a book about it and was up front. And he said he'd like to do a discussion for free if we can get a free room. Move on. But move on quickly so that we can exercise more.
  20. I am also surprised that shops, and specially supermarkets of the size of Sainsbury's, do not do announcements, or training of its staff in basic first aid or common sense... They probably thought it was red wine... I am First Aid trained and I most definitely would have also told the staff to leave the evidence and moved people away.
  21. I agree fully with your post Huguenot, I truly do. It's a well written piece and reflects how I feel. It's just that he did publish stuff that can be verified in other ways, and also there's a lot of politics and pharmaceutical money thrown at drug use, and whilst I was worrying that my grumpy consultant was unhappy I had gone down merely to 5.6, I now feel a bit more relaxed about it.
  22. LostThePlot photos and writes about Classic Cars for a living, I think. A regular-ish on here.
  23. You've made my day. I'm still going to eat more sensibly though!
  24. I'm sure all the 'facts' will be in South London Press. yeah right. I agree, the woman who stepped in sounds amazing.
  25. Likewise. I would not want anyone reading them. Writing them makes me acutely aware of being 'me'. It's hard to explain but having written one for such a long time, I now can't imagine life not doing so. It's like I am uploading my experiences and thoughts to the hard drive, but the memory stays because it was thought about enough to have been explained and written down. Just noted there's a TV show about diary writing on telly next week, but it's about famous people's diaries; I suppose about people who wrote with view to publishing. I write with no such view!
