  1. Oh, um, I don't know. So I have checked, and looks like it was withdrawn. I am sorry! Next idea?!
  2. Put everything in to an envelope then send it in an envelope and simply address it to: FREEPOST BRITISH HERITAGE
  3. Very very sad news. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. Please consider going along to your next Police Ward Panel (the next one for Peckham Rye Ward is at 7pm on Thursday 19th May at the Rye Hill Tenants and Residents Hall on the other side of the park from East Dulwich). You can discover which area / ward you fall into by looking on the met police website. If enough victims of bike theft turn up, then they can demand the police prioritise this. And they will. Southwark Council garages have shot up by 50% - this won't help the crime stats!
  4. http://bit.ly/eeoCAf A great essay!

    Easter

Some of us work over Easter.... (But that's fine. I often don't work on ordinary days!)
  6. Would it be idiotic and childish to print them all for us all to see? ;)
  7. Most of my best friends are not in my age range. It keeps me young. And old.
  8. If it's a nice day I might ride to Wales or Lyme Regis, or somewhere my bike fancies taking me, or if it's not I might paint the hall cupboard... but somehow I think the telly will be on if I am in!
  9. Fashionable and cool looking? Are you sure you weren't in Hoxton or Shoreditch? Good call not to mix work and social life though. Good luck!
  10. edcam thanks for sharing that. Of course it is frightening for the child when someone else gets involved. In the long run though I think one has to in order to hopefully prevent things getting worse in the future.
  11. Radio Four Woman's Hour. Now. 10.00am Monday 18th April 2011. All about AV!
  12. Incidentally, if anyone wants to come down with me in the summer, on the back of my bike, you'd be more than welcome. Share the petrol costs! We could arrange a mutually convenient day to go down one day. I'd prefer a week day. Form a queue!

    Marathon

Oh taper congratulations! I take it you completed it then! How long did you take?
  14. Dear East Dulwich friends! Many of you will know I grew up in Margate, and that I visit Thanet regularly (and sometimes I even visit my parents!) and often upload photos specially of Broadstairs in particular. I normally go on week days when the beaches are empty. Well, today me and MrPR went for a ride around the coast as usual and stopped off at the Turner Contemporary which opened yesterday. I saw on the news that Tracey Emin - when she opened it yesterday - was quite emotional. I am here to tell you that as we rode down Fort Hill and saw all the thousands of people around the building and along the sea front, in the sea and along Stone Pier (now called Margate Harbour Arm, even though it is a Pier made of Stone!) and parked the bikes and entered the Galleries, that I began to cry with pride for my home town's new bright beating heart. I love Thanet but have never seen so many people on Margate sea front since I was a teenager in the 70s working on the seafront cafes. It was such a joy to see. The news reports said that the Turner Gallery could be for Margate what Guggenheim was for Bilbao. I am not quite so sure about that but it will certainly help, and when the Dreamland Victorian theme park opens in a few years Margate will see a resurgence in visitors for sure. The exhibitions in the gallery were great, and there is just one actual Turner Painting in there, although in January there will be a whole exhibition of Turner paintings. I loved what was in the show though today. There was a 100 strong choir and orchestra and they performed an amazing song about a volcano: the subject of one of Turner's paintings currently in the Gallery. Afterwards the applause was deafening and again I was moved to tears! As for the architecture of the gallery, well I am not that keen. Others have also criticised it saying it looks just like big white sheds. But the best thing is that you can't see that when you are INside it, but when you ARE inside it, you can see the beautiful sweep of views of the Margate Sands and today the sun was strong and shining on the water. The cafe is also lovely and well stocked AND the staff were friendly, and helpful! The roads are great quality and you need the A2 then M2, A299 and A28. After Blackheath there are no stops till the Birchington roundabout and you hang a right there and head through Westgate till you get to Margate Sands. It takes us about an hour and a half or so. The ONLY problem specially on a motorcycle is that going down there in the morning the sun is in your eyes. And coming home in the evening, the sun is in your eyes! I strongly recommend it as a day out. And here are the links! Turner Contemporary Visit Thanet Thanks for reading!
  15. Like just what I said! Glad you had a great time!
  16. My favourite is the biggest, at the south end of the Isle of Dogs, Mudchute City Farm. It has llamas. What more do you need! My second favourite is Surrey Docks Farm in Rotherhithe. They're so friendly in there, and the cafe is pretty cool too. Also they sell produce now and again. Next to the farm are steps you can walk down to the 'beach' when the tide is out.
  17. Anyway, back to the issues....
  18. Sad story Pugwash. One of the most dangerous phrases people cite as their favourite is "Live and Let Live"
  19. Dammit can't effing go now. Work and audition and feeling like shite. DAMNNN
  20. Ooooh very good.
  21. Soul? Never saw my home town as being soul! Only just discovered they renamed the Stone Pier, which is a pier made of stone, as the MARGATE HARBOUR ARM. Pahhhh.
  22. We're biking down tomorrow Sat 16th for the opening of the Turner Contemporary Museum. Yes, it looks like a big white shed. But it's going to be a festival weekend, with lots going on. Can't wait!
  23. Sticking with Planet Rock, some days it's possible to get through without them playing Golden Earring.
  24. I am not part of any clique. I hate you all. There.
  25. Thanks to everyone who has posted, and you have given me more confidence next time. I would stand there and call the saferneighboourhoodteam or 999 depending upon time and extent of abuse, and would follow parents / abuser if they left the scene to wherever, if possible.
