  1. "Unlike traditional cotton pillowcases which draw moisture from your face and hair as you sleep, silk will allow your skin to retain its natural moisture." Ah, the joy of slithering in one's own sweat!
  2. Ganapati isn't cheap, but it's good ;-) And there's a lovely little courtyard garden out back.
  3. Tsk, bamboo is the new silk.
  4. My best mate was only 21 when someone did an illegal turn in front of the bike she was riding pillion on. She suffered horrific internal damage, required months in hospital, had to learn to walk all over again and was left permanently disfigured. Guess that makes me biased.

Not a good thing at all. Allowing bleach to get into food as a result of 'overly enthusiastic' cleaning would be bad enough, however, the use of bleach to disguise the smell of spoiled fish is not unheard of.. Rotten fish would certainly account for the week long squits - ew..!
  6. "Why dont you ask him ?" - I have an uneasy relationship with the folk next door ;-) - though, if I were to bump into any of them in the street, I'd ask - I rarely do though. I don't mind the lad, he's only a kid. It's when all his mates and cousins come round that things become really noisy and I can't enjoy my garden. Thanks for the suggestions. I was planning to take the last full week in May off so fingers crossed it's the right one..
  7. I really need a week off work at the end of May but I don't want to coincide it with my neighbour's boy's half-term holiday so I'm trying to find out what school he goes to to get their holiday timings. I think he's either in his last year of Juniors or first year of Secondary and wears a uniform with a mid-blue jumper. Anyone know what school this is likely to be?
  8. I'm glad to see the Goldfinches have finally made a reappearance - I thought the winter had done for them.
  9. "Oooooh, I hope owner and parrot are reunited soon!" Me too! Let us know how the reunion went :-)
  10. Thinking about it, seems strange that it's ringed. I wonder if it's an escapee from some kind of aviary - can't think why anyone would ring a single home bird.
  11. Don't want to be a downer but got to ask: Did he/she get hurt by the cat? If so, it really needs to go to the vet asap for anti-biotic jab. Cat saliva has bacteria which can build up to kill a bird even if the injuries were only minor. I have a sackful of good quality bird seed, also black sunflowers, I could let you have some if you're stuck what to feed it in the meantime - the green parakeets love them. I'm in Kelvington Road, Nunhead - off Cheltenham/Ivydale Roads.
  12. I watched someone buying armfuls of rhubarb down Borough Market some years ago - he was planning to make rhubarb vodka apparantly.

  15. "The zoopla site that someone mentioned estimated a rental income for this house as a figure that I calculated as roughly 5% of purchase cost. While it's unrented, the owner is forgoing that." Quite true, had the owner been planning to rent it out right now, but it seems the owner is planning on doing a complete refurb, and presumably wasn't planning on renting it out until the work had been completed, in which case they aren't forgoing that at all.
  16. Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone - yadda yadda

  18. Yay, Snowy! Great pic :-) My cat, Tom, is splayed out under the duvet, giving it some serious zeds.

  20. 5 star brain fart, Hellosailor ;-) That makes me feel a whole lot better - lol..!! My most worrying one was sitting in a pub in Clapham Junction with my boss and a colleague, waiting for their trains. I was on a staged return to work at the time, and had been experiencing some disconcerting cognitive issues. As it came time to leave, I was thinking how best to get home, when it suddenly occurred to me that although I recognised the interior of the pub, I couldn't for the life of me remember what part of London we were in and had to ask.
  21. Mrs Blackbird has finally started collecting for a nest - seems very late this year.
