  1. I have certainly seen police officers enforcing red light jumping cyclists in Central London in a targeted campaign. I have also seen a police motor cyclist pull over an infringing Lime bike red light jumper and pavement cycler on the city end of London Bridge.
  2. Was this when they were targeting "weak Labour voters" they got from their database....?
  3. No just emphasising the tongue-in-cheek nature of some of the content. Maybe if I had put one on the Chelsea Bridge comment you wouldn't have gone on your engineering lecture...;-)
  4. Some of OD's supporters don't live in Dulwich but the majority do (you can see it on their map). I agree on the one issue manifesto but the biggest issue for the Tories and Lib Dems was they split the vote and if they had been smart one of them would have stood down and then the other might have got traction on the basis of LTNs. Labour's election machine (at all levels) learned some painful lessons in 2019 so are applying that sensibly. They are pretty much the only party now that can call on swathes of activists to go door knocking.
  5. Mr Chicken, no I am not an engineer but thanks for clarifying my point that vibrating bridges have been a thing for a long time. Didn't the Millenium Bridge have the same issue? ;-) Its good to know that if anyone on the forum ever needs any engineering advice they can come to you - we can all sleep well at night now..;-) Does your expertise stretch beyond engineering? If so, perhaps you can help Snowy and take a stab at, keeping the thread on topic, answering my question about why you think London congestion increased by 5% post Covid and yet the next placed city in the top 10 most congested UK cities decreased by 9% and Belfast managed to reduce it by 36% in the Inrix report? P.S. I am not a cosplay fan but if you are its all good with me - each to their own and all that! ;-)
  6. Perhaps some of the posters on this forum don't live in Dulwich/Southwark and didn't get the "A vote for Labour is a vote against the Tories" leaflets which made it anything but local issues.... They never mentioned LTNs in any of their materials. Why? Because they are politicians and they knew they could not raise the issue...it was swept quietly under the carpet. Anyone who thinks otherwise is politically niave. Why on earth would any politician raise any issue that might be a local hot potato, they aren't stupid.
  7. Yeah, per First Mate, so proud of their achievements on LTNs Southwark Labour forgot to mention them at all in their manifesto....hmmmmm
  8. I don't hate anyone and you accusing me of doing so is so typical and part of the armoury of name calling we have grown to expect from you. I disagree with many of their policies and the way they deal with constituents but I would never hate them. Reflects badly on you (and maybe politics in general nowadays) that that would be your go-to.
  9. Mr Chicken, perhaps the councillors could reallocate some of that time they spend (on photo ops) with cops with speed guns to police some of bad cycling junctions. Often a visual deterrent is enough to influence behavioural change.
  10. Snowy, Chelsea Bridge has signs on it saying troops need to break step when marching across it so vibrating bridges has been a thing for a long time! Interesting though that London was the only UK city to register an increase (5%) in congestion since Covid and the next closest in the top ten UK cities saw a 9% decrease.....what caused that do you think?
  11. I am wondering if the council have any carrots in their armoury of things to tackle the problem rather than a lot of (profitable...ahem) sticks... What annoys me is they bleat on and on about not having funding to put bike hangers in (despite earning millions in LTN fines) yet can give up huge swathes of public pavement space to e-bike and scooter rental locations for companies who will make revenue from them (and pay the council for the privilege).
  12. No I am arguing that human behaviour is influenced by situation and location and repeatedly citing Amsterdam as a glorious example of how a city like London can be transformed is pointless because Amsterdam is nothing like London. In tne same way that London is completely different to Istanbul and so are its transport needs. And Paris is not a glorious example either as congestion and pollution there is worse than ever. My Parisian friends love the theory of the 15 minute city but hate the reality of what it is causing. They tell me its great if you live close to where you work, if not (and for most Parisians that is the case) it is a transport disaster. Of course since the LTNs went in in London we are now the most/one of the most congested cities in the world. Co-incidence - you will no doubt say yes. Others are less likely to be so convinced.
  13. You clearly aren't spending enough time in Dulwich...or Southwark for that matter....;-)
  14. Sorry to point out the bleedingly obvious but Amsterdam is not London and the context of that research makes that very clear. Amsterdam is unique in its size and compactness and always gets rolled out as a great example but unfortunately it never translates to bigger cities...for obvious reasons.
  15. I will look through the whole report when I have time but one of the opening paras suggests Amsterdam may be slightly different to London.....and Dulwich in particular 2.1. Context Amsterdam is a historic European city, characterised by narrow one-way streets and by a transportation system that offers many modal alternatives to travellers. In 2017, auto travel represented 27% of trips, while cycling, walking, public transport, and scooters, each accounted for 26%, 19%, 26%, and 2%, respectively (Gemeente Amsterdam, 2019). About half of all car trips, excluding those made by residential parking permit holders, are made by non-residents.
  16. CPZs do nothing to reduce car use. The council knows this, Malumbu knows this..even Mr Chicken knows this.
  17. But look at those videos of some of the cycling in Dulwich seen on a regular basis - is it considerate to other road users and would it make you fell safe as a pedestrian? Look at the Dulwich Library junction - it is not great for pedestrians due to the number of bikes ignoring the lights or the rules of the road. It definitely needs some intervention from the police or council, other authorities are having to do it in London so Southwark should follow suit in those hot spots that need it most. Surely everyone can agree to that?
  18. This is a thread on ULEZ and not CPZs and is relevant due to the political hot potato I referred to many posts ago. Clearly Jezzer wants back into the Labour party and is using the threat of running for Mayor as the lever and is jumping on the ULEZ band wagon. He would have been an absolute disaster for this country and given his issues with controlling anti-semitism within his own party should never be allowed back in to it.
  19. BBC News - Jeremy Corbyn to 'have a think' about London mayor bid https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-66416568 This could be a disaster for Sadiq and Keir if this was to happen.
  20. Keep it on topic Malumbu...you're meandering.....or is there a cyclists on paths punchline we are wating for....? No Ex- you are wrong on this. Every cyclist has a responsibility to self-police, just in the same way car drivers do too. Policing is required for those who flaunt and break the rules whether they are a cyclist or driver. As a driver I keep to the speed limit, this often upsets drivers who want to go faster but I am helping police. I have stopped at red lights whilst cycling and been berated by those cyclists who do not want to stop at red lights. I have told them that we all need to respect the rules of the road. That's me helping police cycling too. But who is policing cyclists. My suggestion is to get the council or police to enforce the rules for cyclists...they are being forced to do it in other parts of London so why not Southwark. As a cyclist I have nothing to be afraid of because it don't flaunt the rules. What is interesting is the reaction by many of the pro-lobby, you don't see many criticising anything to do with the behaviour of cyclists, happy to turn a blind eye to bad cycling whilst calling out bad driving. And then look at Snowy's over-excited reaction to what they perceive to be a gotcha...more interested with trying to make a ludicrous accusation and make utterly pointless and childish accusations than addressing anything in the video posted. So wonderfully predictable.
  21. You're the thread killer Malumbu...the comedian in the comedy club who kills the momentum and vibe and people laugh nervously at because they wonder why they arent getting the joke! 😉
  22. Oh do try another one.....Good grief.....you're getting really desperate now...
  23. Nope but given how bad the cycling is woudn't you agree the cyclist/s is/are increasing the chances of that happening considerably?
  24. Have you just discovered the concept of the multiple choice question and are now trying to use it in everything you do? What on earth are you blathering on about now? Or is this just your latest bizarre attempt to distract from the topic of the thread?
  25. Or d) Yet more examples of terrible cycling - a problem that seems to be getting worse and needs policing as cyclists aren't doing it themselves
