  1. I can't imagine that people who behave like that have the bikes legally registered to them. Also why 'LTN violence'? Sociopathic behaviour from hooligans maybe, but anything trying to blame traffic filters for this is a stretch!
  2. Both you and Heartblock keep quoting this - but it is taken from the generic chat about trends across london. It isn't the case for Dulwich. Cycling is not 'back to pre lockdown levels' in Dulwich, the monitoring shows that its significantly up. For the avoidance of doubt the monitoring data released by the council shows increases in cycling from pre pandemic levels and the monitoring shows this to be sustained throughout the data points provided. 3. You did say that - but then you also said that you wanted to understand if there was support for the bus route before you contacted TFL so it wasn't 100% clear which you would be asking people to DM you in support of. Its clear now, and would have been without the caps and rudeness!
  4. Just to clarify - are you looking for people to join you to support the bus and get funding for that or for this educational programme around EVs and Hybrids? Or is it both? Just trying to work out what you are looking for support with. Have you considered what funding you are looking to access too?
  5. Looking at the posts above - it is all very difficult. Is there room in the discussion about EV / Hybrid to look at wider measures too?
  6. I think you can report via ?fixmystreet? without pictures
  7. Metallic - you have just summarised one of the main issues with the EDF for any kind of discussion really. ?Next door? has tried to counter this by real names and it does change the tone of discussions. A lot of what is being discussed here is purely conjecture (unless Katykoo) is a local councillor or council official in disguise in which case they can maybe answer the questions as to what is planned for the roads mentioned above, otherwise no one knows! Asking again though because I am genuinely interested as a local resident who uses the shops in Dulwich village, does anyone know what specifically is concerning these shops about the current closure plan in particular?
  8. Re the shops, I wonder why that is though? Do they think that people passing jump out for an emergency book or haircut? Or is it just the idea that if people have to drive an extra few 100 m (for those who won't just walk) that they'd carry on driving and drive somewhere else? Interested to understand what the specific concern is? There is no parking reduction as part of this arrangement and there is no area where you won't be able to drive to if required. I hear a lot from people saying ' the shops are concerned' but what is that concern based on?
  9. Thanks James - would re -echo comments about the toilets in Dulwich park. Toilets have been open in motorway service stations throughout, the royal parks are trialling opening too. We need the facilities re opening but with plenty of soap - people need to carry hand sanitiser to use preferably before and after. Closing the toilets indefinitely is not the answer though - people are using the bushes, it is horrible and needs urgently addressing by providing access to public toilets.
  10. Think it was something like 37% against - the rest must have been indifferent (but indifferent and bothered responding to the consultation rather than everyone who was indifferent and didn't respond!).
  11. That seems a much more sensible plan than what was originally proposed in the first plans!
  12. Have you checked the houses nearby to see if any have ring doorbells or other CCTV that might have picked up the thieves or any car / van they travelled in?
  13. Saucy closed a while back - well before the whole Covid thing - they had some horrible luck re the opening and then they moved to France and also had some health issues I think - he posted on here. Betting shops have also pleasingly been closing quickly since the death of fixed odds betting machines. Sogim is moving over the road to the old Lush Designs shop, again this was a few months ago. I'm not suggesting there won't be some fall out post COVID - smaller independent shops will be most at risk so we should all try to support those we want to keep as much as possible, but I can't be anything other than pleased that betting shops are closing as they are a drain on society and the one or two people they employ do not in any way outweigh that!
  14. It does seem a really unusual design given there are houses on that road. Normally you might expect one end to close and the other to have some kind of moveable barrier for access (like the school street barriers or bollards) @goodgirlbadhairday suggest speaking to your councillors (dulwich Hill ward I think there) for them to get greater clarity.
  15. Really sorry to hear that - I posted on the other thread re stolen bikes in terms of what to do to try to recover it so might be worth a look? Is this another Cyclehoop hanger that has been broken into?
  16. Oh - which shops have closed recently? I know that the bakery on the corner of Frogley closed just before Xmas and that the old Threshers site continues to be empty at the northern end and that SoGim pharmacy also closed a few months ago, but have there been others recently? 17. Of course I wasn't.... As above - the entrances to Goodrich school are actually on Dunstans road for Nimble arts - something EDAus will be aware of. Therefore, they will be a) able to park on Dunstans Road and b) perfectly capable of walking round the corner if a parking spot isn't immediately available and so the 'issues' faced by people needing to drive are hugely overstated! first mate Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I don?t think that is what EDAus wrote, or > implied. 18. I'm sorry, I hadn't realised you had disabilities. You could consider checking in with Wheels for Wellbeing. They might have helpful suggestions.
  19. Sorry to hear about the bike thefts. There seem to have been a spate of them in cycle hoops recently - it seems there are weaknesses that are known by thieves and are being exploited. Perhaps also people use less strong locks inside the hoops as the hangers are supposed to be secure. From some of the other groups I'm on, I've seen some useful summaries as to what you can do when you lose a bike to try to recover it, so have pasted below in case helpful: Log them on findthatbike.co.uk and on bikeregister.com Mark as stolen including the frame numbers. Tweet and Instagram post with @stolenride Set up alerts on findthatbike which covers gumtree, ebay and Preloved, then set up separate alerts on shpock. Report it to police using 101 crime form, and let them know if you see it for sale online, but you need to be certain it's yours for them to help you recover it.
  20. When were camera filters suggested please? During the OHS consultation it was certainly the case that a 'permeable filter' was suggested - and what is being put in place is just that - the permeability comes from the fact that it lets some traffic through and not other sorts - in this case - pedestrians and cyclists can pass through the filters, motorised vehicles cannot. In any event, the COVID measures being put in on a temporary basis need to be quick to implement and cheap, so ANPR filters are not going to be feasible right now. I think its been mentioned upthread too, but the majority of the traffic driving up Melbourne as a cut through is unlikely to be anything to do with residents in that area, so having a camera for resident access wouldn't seem to be likely to make a huge difference?
  21. EDAus - Have you considered cycling or scooting to Nimble Arts if you're using it? You'd be amazed how quickly you can get over there like that - plus a bit of fresh air / exercise does wonders for the kids! We've been scooting or cycling for the past couple of years. there is some bike parking inside the gate too to keep it relatively secure!
  22. its the 4th, the committee is convening on the 9th. The officers report is still not showing on the council website.
  23. Would agree with that Redjam. The parks are seeing much heavier usage and this will continue as more interaction outside is allowed. Keeping the parks clean is important, so more bins and yes, toilets opening. For anyone saying its a risk and people should stay close to home etc - this just isn't happening, and having a park full of human waste is hugely unpleasant. Children like to play in the bushes too, so keeping them free of human waste feels like a key point. There needs to be adequate hand washing and rules about how many people can go in at once, but to the extent that cafes are opening, then toilets should open too.
  24. There is a section on the Southwark website - i found it by typing Southwark parking into google and it was the first result i looked at! https://www.southwark.gov.uk/health-and-wellbeing/public-health/for-the-public/coronavirus/impact-on-council-services/coronavirus-parking-restrictions-and-controlled-parking-zones
  25. Totally agree that charcoal bbqs are also an antisocial idea now (and generally). The only saving grace is duration of burning, usually it?s not on for hours and hours. Anyway- short answer is that burning any solid fuel now is a bad thing. If you want to bbq, gas is more socially acceptable though!
