  1. Hi, Possibly a stupid question but I'm new to this.. If I express breastmilk in the morning and plan to feed it to my baby the same night, can I just store it in the sterilised bottle I'll use to feed him? I have milk storage bags that I'm using but it seems odd to keep transferring it. Also if I do just use the bottle to store it in the fridge and express more later can I just top up the bottle? Appreciate any advice on this. Thx
  2. Hi everyone, I'm expecting my first baby in March. Would be great to meet other people due about the same time so would love to come to the next meet up - will try to keep an eye on the thread.
  3. Hi Barry, This morning the 06:39 just showed as 'delayed' then never turned up. I pressed the button for info on the station twice but both times it rang and no one answered. Whilst I understand that there are occasionally delays, this doesn't explain the total lack of info. Is this something you could raise as appropriate please?
  4. Hi Barry, Do you know if local busses / tubes are accepting rail season tickets whilst services are suspended / disrupted please ( I couldn't see anything on the Southern webpage about this)? Thanks
  5. Thanks everyone, left a message and got a message back telling me to page. Felt odd in a non emergency but got called back and everything fine. Thanks again
  6. Thx that's fab. Am probs being neurotic but do need to speak to a midwife tmrw so will go for the answerphone in the first instance. Will check what I should have done at my next appt.
  7. Does anyone who is / was with Brierley know how I should contact them if I have a question? Ie do I page or is that just for emergencies in which case should I call the office. Just need to speak to a midwife tomorrow so not sure of the right approach. To be fair I think my midwife has been through how to get in touch, I'm just incapable of retaining info. Thanks
  8. Thanks everyone - didn't want to get my hopes up and find that it was never checked then (think I'm having a slightly neurotic week)
  9. Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew from their experience when midwives will first try to listen for a heartbeat at antinatal appts. I have my 16 week appt in a couple of weeks and wondered if they would then? Just asking as have heard that sometimes its not done at the earlier appts in case its hard to find, so as not to worry you. Just seems a long time from the 12 week scan to the 22 week one.
  10. Thanks Sillywoman and everyone else for the advice. I"ll get in touch with Alison.
  11. Thanks for that - I was really surprised there was nothing east of Herne Hill at all showing up on the website. I've filled in a form to register interest for a W Dulwich intensive course but said that ideally I was looking for something in East Dulwich. Hopefully if there is a course which doesn't show up they'll let me know. Thanks again everyone for all your help.
  12. Does anyone have any advice re antinatal classes in the area? I was looking on the NCT website but the intensive courses for my due date all seem to be Brixton/ Herne Hill borders based if I want a weekend course. I'm surprised there isn't anything in East Dulwich - but wondered whether anyone had done these courses and had any advice whether I'd be better to try for the W Dulwich one - although its on Fridays? I'm just concerned that everyone says that the courses are a great way to meet people with the same due date who you'll hopefully keep in touch with, but if people are coming from Brixton it seems quite far away from East Dulwich to be meeting up - not sure about the logistics of the 37 bus with a pushchair rather than just walking somewhere! Also - do I really need to consider this so early - my 12 week scan isn't until mid April so all seems quite early. Any advice much appreciated.
  13. Thanks everyone for the responses - really helpful - will make sure we have enough 50ps!!
  14. Thanks - I haven't been to my GP as Brierly said that they'd sort out the scan appointment so I wouldn't need to- I just gave them my GP details. Thanks for all your responses - its really helpful.
  15. Hi, I've just found out I'm pregnant with my first baby (6 weeks). Know this is very early, but after reading threads on here, I've already registered with Brierley midwives. I've been called by one of the midwives and my 'booking in' appt will be at the beginning of April. Am sure at this point she'll be able to answer all the questions I have, but I just wondered if anyone could tell me when I should expect to get an appointment for my first scan. Websites say 10-14 weeks so wondered what I should expect re appts for Kings. Just want to make sure that I know what to expect, so that I can chase up if I don't hear anything in time. Thanks for any advice.
