  1. Getting them on your back on your own can be tricky at first but easy with someone to help you - or a sofa / chair! Its way more comfy to carry them on your back once they're over about 10kg and they can see quite a lot. Front facing carriers ie where the baby faces out aren't great ergonomically for either them or you so I would agree with not buying another carrier capable of this.
  2. Can you pop him on your back in the ergo?
  3. Would it be possible to separate out ED Businesses, restaurants and trades into 2 separate sections? 1 for shops / restaurants etc physically located in East Dulwich and another for trades. The section as it currently stands is quite busy - and gets swamped with building services offered etc, so its often hard to see what is actually new in East Dulwich and easy to miss info on new shops / restaurants / cafes opening. I think it would be helpful to separate out these things if possible.
  4. Sling library is probably a good idea if you can get there. At 7 months and for airports etc I'd recommend a structured carrier like the ergo or manduca. They're all the same principle but trying them on is helpful as some seem to fit different people better. They're quick to get on and off and will have good longevity. My daughter is 26 months and I still carry her on occasions in an ergo (they can go on your back as they get bigger).
  5. we got it via our GP - just paid for a private prescription and the surgery administered it.
  6. great - thank you, will try those
  7. Thanks - anywhere on lordship lane?
  8. Does anyone know where I can get a helium balloon for my daughters birthday - preferably for less than the ?8 they cost in Clinton Cards? Thanks
  9. The Eric website linked above is good. How old is he and how many sachets of movicol ? It sounds like the dose isn't right. GPs can be quite reluctant to increase but the Nice guidance is pretty clear I think. Perhaps call ERIC for advice, but 9days really is too and will probs be painful. With the right dose he won't have hard poo and hopefully will stop associating it with pain.
  10. Is your house all on the same level - lots in ED have a step down at the back so would possible make an odd room with a step in the middle!
  11. try a mattress topper - they do help and are way cheaper than a new mattress if yours isn't sagging etc. Remember though that until recently all ikea mattresses were not standard UK size - so if yours is one of those you'll need to get an ikea one
  12. Could you walk to city thameslink from moor gate and then get the bus from Denmark hill ?
  13. Does anyone know what the plans are re appointing a new head? On the school website it refers to appointment after feb half term, but wondered if there was any more info as to whether this would be a full time head teacher for Goose Green or an exec head on a shared / part time basis?
  14. Transport museum in cov garden. Both of my kids love it - plus there's the added bonus of 2 trains each way if you go to ch x. We tend to go to Wagamama after for lunch
  15. slightly more concerning though is that 'her feet were measured wrong' - isn't the whole point of trained fitters that they're supposed to use the measurer as a guide but then use their fitting skills to ensure that the pair sold fits properly?
  16. If you have the same (or very similar) flooring inside and out - (or lay a deck in the same direction as the inside flooring if you go for wood) it will make the spaces look more joined up. Bear in mind though that over time the colours will end up being different as the sun tends to fade the outside. We have a side return extension with a glass roof (not skylights) - its beautiful, but the one thing I wish we'd don't differently is install some lighting on that side of the room. Its great in the daytime, but can be a little dark when there is no natural light
  17. I think that the GP visit would just be to rule out anything like a urine infection rather than anything else.
  18. 1:2 ratio - oats to milk and then microwave for 2-3 minutes - let it stand for about a minute after to thicken then add cold milk and mix in
  19. Singles definitely. As has been said often on this thread, so much easier for sharing with them when they have inevitable nightmares / illness etc. Plus they won't grow out of them like they will a toddler bed / mid sleeper. If space is limited and they'll need to share, perhaps bunks, but otherwise singles are way easier to change etc and should have the greatest longevity.
  20. Nelly's have 3 sites and are currently working on a 4th. They're all owned by the same people and all have a fantastic reputation. Both my kids are at the Rosendale Road one and we're very happy with it - obviously the waiting list is huge and getting a place there is tricky, but I don't know anyone who has had a child at Nelly's and been unhappy
  21. Have you considered that rather than solid food related it could be CMPI? My second child has CMPI and rather than resulting in explosive poos it means she struggles to poo. Would also recommend going back to the GP and asking for movicol rather than lactulose. Some GPs insist on a paediatrician prescribing for under 2s, but our GP prescribed it for my son aged 1 (with hindsight suspect he also has CMPI but in any event, movicol has helped for him).
  22. we have the motorola - it does the same scan feature which is really useful. Go for a video monitor - they come into their own once you move them into a bed!!!
  23. Our GP surgery did ours - I asked for a private prescription which I paid for and then the surgery nurse administered it. Worth asking about even if you get initial push back (which we didn't)
  24. Clothes for causes is what has replaced the junk furniture shop next to 'colour makes people happy'
  25. For outside we used the polarn o pyret moccasins until they were confidently walking - they go in the wash and protect the bottom of their feet a bit. Inside just bare feet though
