The planned new Dulwich Health Centre
nxjen replied to NHS_Matt's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I don?t think the questionnaire is that bad, the ?how was it for you? questions give greater scope for a more detailed, nuanced answer than a question such as ?On a scale of 1 to 10, how clean did you find the facility? which gives no scope for the ?yes but ...? answer. Had I ever attended at Lister, I would welcome the opportunity of answering the more open ended questions. Anyway, regardless of whether it?s a well designed questionnaire or not, or whether it?s a mere PR stunt, we should not lose site of the fact that within a couple of years (or so!), at last, there will be a brand new health facility in the area. -

There is a recent new page on the Guys and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust website regarding the services that will be offered https://www.guysandstthomas.nhs.uk/news-and-events/2018-news/may/20180509-A-new-health-centre-for-Dulwich-Community-Hospital-site.aspx -

Where to get garden waste bags for council collection?
nxjen replied to hpsaucey's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
All the libraries have them and garden centres, definitely the one next to North Dulwich station. -

I think they are both genuinely smitten but the royal family are certainly taking the opportunity to put a message across. The cynical side of me says this is aimed at the Commonwealth to foster better trading links post Brexit, I believe it has been announced the happy couple intend working to strengthen those links.

Goose Green councillors - how can we help?
nxjen replied to jamesmcash's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
?I am disappointed to see Labour introduce what is effectively a poll tax, but the Lib Dems are far worse ideologically.? Nothing like a poll tax which everyone is compelled to pay. You only pay the ?16 bulk collection fee if you want the council to take away large items i.e. you pay for the service. -

They are a very practical family when it comes to their own survival.

Goose Green councillors - how can we help?

From previous threads on EDF it appears that Sainsburys are responsible for maintenance of St Francis Park. See http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,336529,1795265#msg-1795265. -
The buildings may have disappeared but no the history hasn?t been lost forever otherwise we wouldn?t be discussing it, history like this is kept alive even more so in these days of the internet and amateur enthusiasts. There?s history and there?s nostalgia ...

The flats on the site of Kings on the Rye are a conversion of the pub built in the late 1950s to replace the Victorian (?) pub destroyed in World War II. http://www.closedpubs.co.uk/london/se15_kingsarms.html

There is also a mosaic thistle which was David Greig?s symbol, I believe they were a Scottish firm. This gave rise to the incarnation before Tart, Le Chardon, French for thistle. BTW, there are two other David Greig?s further down the road shown on the street directory at nos. 145 and 147 to 153.

Wonderful, thanks for posting. Reminds me of the shops in Westow Hill and Westow Steet in Crystal Palace where the Norwood Society (I think) has organised ?Blue Plaques? in the windows that show what the shops were in a past life.

Notice on window says it's going to be a Shelter Boutique. There are already a few of these including shops at Hampstead and Blackheath that sell high end designer clothes

FS posts work well as satire but in this very odd thread who's to know. Hope OP got information they were looking for.

http://www.peckhamryepark.org/news/2016/7/17/former-lido-site I found this link on the Friends of Peckham Rye Park website from February. Basically not a lot has happened. I was keen on the project initially but not so much now as the size of the project has grown enormously and it involves building on MOL.

The Southwark link describes advertising boards and displays of goods that are unauthorised. If set up on the shop's own land, they are not unauthorised.

Maybe I just got lucky !
