  1. Are there any leaseholders of excouncil properties in Southwark who have been granted formal consent to replace internal fittings like kitchen and bathroom fittings from Southwark? We are waiting for approval but they are past their remit and I'm having a hard time finding out what our rights as a leaseholder (if any) are. thank you.
  2. we goggled cleaning the "door seal of a washing machine" this weekend. Must be time for spring cleaning. they are removable and washable. you can also buy new ones- for ?40-50. We watched a Youtube video - looked straighforward on how to get it out - then its easier to clean - but havent tried it yet.
  3. My daughter dropped two birthday cards after we bought them on Northcross Rd today around 1pm. For 6 year olds. we walked down Northcross and on lordship Lane towards the Picturehouse and William Rose. Not a big deal, but if someone happened to find them and wanted to return them, she'd be over the moon. She had tucked them in her coat to protect them from the rain. Thank you.
  4. hi Laura- I've sent you a PM. Our daughter is now 3 and I have only praise for the South Thames Cleft Services.
  5. Yosef at Townley Road Dental has managed to charm my 2.5 year old into allowing him to give her the quarterly floride treatments she needs. Enough said! I was also happy with Dr Laleh but that office is very buggy unfriendly ( the door opens into half a flight of steps). That's why i switched. I havent been in over a year ...in case they have changed the layout......
  6. Not sure if this is just in the case of Gumboots, but it seems that in August there's a mass exodus as families go on hols and kids start reception. The freed up spaces filter down thru the age groups. We happened to get a place at gumboots due to this fortunate timing. I imagine everyone ahead of us had long found alternate plans. My point is, you never know. if all the nurseries have wait lists, it may be worth the ?25 since its so close to you. We were very happy there.
  7. Our first disney paraphernalia was a gift tub of chocolates in a tin decorated with a montage of disney princesses for our 4 year old. My husband and I looked at the pictures and agreed if you replaced the princess outfits with playboy bunny outfits you'd have a bunch of centerfolds. We ate the chocolates and chucked the tin in the bin.
  8. can anyone pls tell me if the peckham one oclock club is on tues mornings? havent been for ages and the phone numbers i've found online are all disconnected. ta
  9. my little one was holding it in the buggy but sadly didnt make it home. possibly in goose green playground..or towards north cross road.... micro scooter brand - purple ta
  10. we live quite close to the permanent site but getting to the temporary site will be a bit tricky as we dont have a car. Looking for any parents who may consider carpooling. Wouldnt be everyday and i'd be able to do pick up's.... pls pm for more details ta
  11. After visiting 4 ED area schools, Bessemer was our first choice. Obviously its a very personal decision and i hope you are happy after getting a proper tour. Knowing it was likely to be where we ended up, I have been taking my daughter to the programs at its sure start centre. Perhaps you'll be able to do the same. They have various stay and play groups, would help you get a feel for the commute and the physical space. Every current parent i've spoken with have been very happy. ( although i found this to be true at all the ED area schools).
  12. my parents loved staying at the Lilac door so much they wont stay with us anymore even though the dust has settled with the baby and we have the room. The breakfast is fab and the hostess top notch. If its convenient to you, its a lovely option.
  13. use your experience to be prepared ( music, food, drink etc), stay calm and read the signs your body is telling you. i was attached to my birthing ball for no 1 and fully expected the same for no 2 but contractions were way worse witting on the ball. the most comfortable position was on my hands and knees. My advice would be to keep it moving and find positions you are comfortable with. i'm shocked how different my contractions felt in different positions. Also the gas and air worked much better for no 2. i think because i was more relaxed and took it properly. ie at the very start of the contraction - long deep breathe. if you get one timed right and can feel the effect you are on you way to a happier experience. Best of luck.
  14. i highly recommend trying a few classes to find one that suits you. that's what i did and found them all very different. i settled on Laura's class at Push(friday night) which i loved more than words can express and helped me have the peaceful home birth i imagined (it was my 2nd). i know there are other threads on this topic - there are quite a few in the area. brockwell lido and gardens.......
  15. beware the laninsoh bags when you defrost. i had several bags leaks, i have no idea what i could have done wrong. i just put them in the fridge and in the morning I'd have a pool of milk. My advice would be either double bag or to make sure you defrost in a clean container.
  16. i also used the pebbles website. Personally i had problems getting the really heavy ones on and found them restricting. Perhaps try a mid weight and see what works for you before investing in muliple pairs of the same weigh. I struggled getting them on so much i definitely would have gone footless if i could go back in time. but yes, i agree with the above comments the right ones will definitely help. good luck, i feel your pain.
  17. thank you to everyone who responded. I did look at the 2014/15 book and my friend's child was accepted in the general pool. i thought this was April but i guess am wrong. Looks like i have to do the pin on the map thingy. geez its really hard to top a night of dishes and tidying......figuring exactly where i live compared to local primaries...i need a drink
  18. I'm not from the UK so the primary school application process if particulary confusing. i looked up the distance from our house (using our postcode) to the local schools using the walkjogrun website recommended in various posts (using the schools postcode). i crossed checked with the last distance place offered chart published in the offical primary school guide. We are a good 100 meters out of range from the published catchment area of one local school. However a friend's kid got into this school in April- no siblings, no special needs and they live further away. the streets may be crooked in this town but i still live in between their house and the school's post/entrance and so i ask, what have I done wrong? many thanks to anyone who takes the time to respond.
  19. my friday night pregnancy yoga class with laura at Push Studio was my favourite part of being preggers with no 2. ( aside from napping). i highly recommend trying a couple of instructors to find the one you really gel with. best of luck with the pregnancy. k
  20. thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my post. I really appreciate it.
  21. i was too sick to attend myself, but if its not asking to much, could someone who did attend last night's meeting pls give a general summary. was it well attended? were site locations mentioned? latest news? Many, many thanks k
  22. determined not to eat ready meals for a month as we did after the birth of our first child, i found a local company who brings healthy premade meals to our house twice a week. To all those new parents or parents to be who may struggle to get lunch or dinner on the table, i highly recommend Bamn Good Food. Its a really pleasant feeling to think i've eaten healthy that day and its such a relief not to have to cook a family meal every night. I'm in awe of anyone with babies who can manage to do so. http://www.bamngoodfood.com/ happy eating.
  23. thank you everyone. I really thought the baby's spots would be out by now. At least we're not missing much weather wise. So the waiting game con't......
