PipW, what you describe sounds horrendous. As well as opposing the new licensing application, I think you could also complain about the impact of the current licensing hours. I don't know much about licensing, but I think there is potential for a licence to be changed/revoked. Have you mentioned it on James Barber's thread?

Some nurseries don't take the gov money, I think. If you have a look at the ofsted report it often says that they have x number of funded 3 and 4 year olds. Contact the nursery to be sure. And remember that pre schools are generally only in school term times.

Yes, Lansinoh is good. If she has delicate skin it's probably going to happen regardless of positioning etc. It did for me. But it's worth perservering because her nipples will toughen up and be fine in a couple of weeks. I share her pain though - ow!

Have you tried Italian amazon or similar? I think lots of the BBC stuff, eg in the night garden, gets translated for sale abroad. I love peppa pig.

Oh dear sg88, I know how you feel. I had such a bad cough when I was heavily pregnant with my second that I coughed with my whole body, if you know what I mean. I found travelling to work the most tiring bit. I wonder if there's anything you cAn do to improve your journey, eg take a different route or get someone to drive you? Can you get extra help/childcare on your days at home so you can rest? Bearing in mind the cough, maybe you could take a couple of days off sick and just sleep? Or failing all of that go on mat leave a bit earlier, though of course that means you will go back earlier. Anyway, thinking of you. Once you shake the cough and rest up it may get easier. Good luck. Rainy plan b is difficult because the only nearby options - one o clock club and cafe - aren't really big enough to accommodate everyone. If it's light showers then the trees in the picnic area will give a bit of shelter... Kit, you would be v welcome. There's a mix of people with toddlers or just a baby, depending on who turns up.

I think all mums feel like this, but not all admit it. But what you are describing snowboarder is normal toddler behaviour, not any indication of your parenting skills! When my guilt millstone is getting too heavy I remember the children whose only meal in a day is their school lunch, who never get taken to the park, who start school without anyone ever having read them a story. Those are the children who are not well cared for. So my little boy might not get five portions of fruit and veg a day, he might watch a bit too much tv, he might have chronically underbrushed teeth, but he's a healthy, happy little boy. And that is good enough.

Hi cigolem, my little boy goes to First Steps on Upland Rd. They take children from 18 months. It's a great place but the list is v long and we only got 2 days, which is not much use if you and your partner are both working.

Unfortunately most of them have quite long lists. You might need to get him down for one in a year's time and go for a childminder or nanny in the meantime.

Hi, I didn't realise that the one o'clock club takes donations of toys etc. So I thought I'd post on here. They are especially interested in outdoor toys. Some of those trikes they have cost several hundred pounds and some have been nicked and the club can't afford to replace them. Of course things also get worn out with so much use. So if you have any ride-ons etc cluttering up your shed they would be gratefully received. Also they could do with a Moses basket for indoors. The club is brilliant - we're so lucky to have it.

Wheelchairs always go through the back door because that's where the ramp comes down. Use the bus quite alot, though not the 63, and it's normally fine. What bugs me is the way drivers often stop miles from the kerb, or with a lamppost or bin right in the middle of where you need to get off.

My little boy loves Thomas so much it's near impossible to get him to play with other toys, read other books, or watch anything else. Not to mention the multiple requests every day to make up a story about Thomas and Percy delivering something or other. I now have encyclopaedic knowledge of Thomas characters and it's bearable. But the question is how much longer?! What have your little ones been obsessed with and how long did it last?
