  1. Thanks, I will see if the V&A or Geffrye can advise further. :)
  2. Yup. Rescued from the back garden in Gloucestershire, now residing in a back garden in Brockley.
  3. Thanks we will try to contact them this week. Any artists or engineers with a Kit Williams passion, please get in touch with ideas. All advice gratefully considered. I will try to take a picture and post it tomorrow. In the meantime you can Google etc for pics online. It's a fantastic thing.
  4. Just a note of support to say I hope whatever decisions you've made that things are getting better now. xx
  5. Little Saff's godfather has rescued and given to her the Kit Williams clock 'Lady and the Tiger Illusion Clock'. It can no longer be stored where we currently have it in Brockley, and it needs to be moved to storage or new housing immediately! A delight to children young and old, we would like it to be displayed somewhere easily accessible to all. We need emergency help/advice/possible temporary storage!! The clock is currently in good condition but requires some urgent sensitive repair and restoration. Can anyone help us? What museums or public spaces might house it? It needs a large space, eg 3+ meters high. Sadly the Horniman cannot take it because they don't take domestic works, only international. Any advice or help gratefully received. xx
  6. My boss has an international tooth fairy, who sometimes leaves Euros or Swiss Francs for his children. (Presumably left over from their ski holidays - we should all be so lucky!!)
  7. My daughter was similar to ACBP. When she first started nursery at ~2.5 yo (also 3 days/wk), she didn't nap for the first couple of weeks -- she was having too much fun! After that she started to have regular post-lunch naps about 40-75 min. Sometimes she napped a little longer at home on her non-nursery days. Just let your nursery know to keep encouraging naps, and talk to your LO about how/where she can nap at nursery, bring a teddy or blanket from home just for nap time. Good luck. xx

So it's still a bit unclear. I agree with others about the validity of your bin being on your property. As far as this being a modern problem, I disagree. I think as long as people have been throwing away personal stuff, other people have been rummaging it - for better or worse intentions.
  9. At 10:30pm at night how would you even know if you'd hit a cat or a fox, or just a rock or a bag of rubbish? I don't own a car/drive in London, so it's thankfully not something with which I've had to deal. Suppose you think you hit something. So you stop, check your mirrors etc but don't see anything. Are there parked cars obscuring your view? Is there other traffic on the road? Maybe it's just too dark to see the road surface well. Obviously we don't know if any of those apply here. And I agree that if you know you hit a cat, you should stop. But there are definitely going to be times when you don't know you've hit something, or can't confirm the nature of what you hit. I don't see how a petition like the one in the link would ever be brought to law. In addition it's impossible to keep some cats indoors or confined to a back garden. Some cats just refuse to be confined. Cars are always going to be a hazzard to small animals. So sorry for your loss. xx

  11. IPL is not a laser treatment, no laser involved at all. xx
  12. Hardwater accelerates pilling and fading. But agreed it sounds like a complex problem, given what you describe! Hope you get to the bottom of it. xx
  13. Have you tried adding water softener? Or using an enzyme-based detergent (eg bio detergent)?
  14. IPL is good for acne spots, not expensive. If you have hyperpigmentation, then Pixel laser treatment might be better but is way more expensive. xx
  15. If you're losing your temper, I wonder what your LO feels? I imagine she's frustrated too. When my daughter can't settle in her own bed, I let her settle on a mat by my bed. After she falls asleep sometimes I put her in her own bed, sometimes I leave her if I'm too tired to move her. You can't necessarily "break" sleep issues like a "bad habit", because sleep issues are often linked naturally to development and developmental leaps. If you can't bear the thought of shutting the door and leaving your LO, then don't! There are loads of alternatives. xx
  16. The staff at CP One O'clock Club were just the best! They were so friendly and chatty and helpful. It doesn't matter how well-resourced a play group is. It has to be friendly to be successful. xx
  17. Good luck! I hope the last one turns up soon. xx
  18. Agreed, and it shows how important keeping very young children in your line of sight can be, particularly for the legal implications. Does anyone know if there are age-related restrictions in the UK?

  20. Is it really a festival with no beer/bands?* I think I'd rather pluck my eyelashes out one-by-one than camp in the woods with a bunch of children, no alcohol, and no bands for a weekend. Then someone still has to do all the laundry when you get home! But to each their own of course. xx *Isn't that just called 'camping' or a 'retreat'????

Little Saff is 4 yo, and I'm finding this age really hard to manage for these types of activities. I took her to small festivals when she was a baby/toddler, and it was ok. I took her to a festival last year, and she had a great time -- but I really struggled. No matter how family friendly the 'family' areas are at festivals, I can always find a few people up to naughty things! And even once your children are a bit older and you can leave them for a bit at a festival without worrying about them getting lost, then you have to worry about other things... -- I'm balking at the idea of taking her this year. My friends are split down the middle. Some always take their kids, some never do.
  22. So ED Forumites, what's your opinion on children at festivals? Hippy bliss, or never-in-a-million-years?
  23. Sorry I don't have time to post more on this, but to aid healing you might want to research this further: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-24940406. Agreed, on a larger website you might find people with direct experience of using bleach baths for eczema and healing ulcers. xx
  24. Is the eczema suspected to be infected/prone to infection? Have you tried 'bleach bath' treatment? Otherwise, if you've exhausted every combination of barrier cream and nipple shield, I can't think of any other practical way to improve the dermatitis other than to limit contact with the irritant. Could you introduce bottle feeds to cut your breastfeeds to just a couple times a day to keep your milk, but minimise contact with Baby's saliva? :( Hope it all gets better/easier soon. xx
