Where is East Dulwich according to the Southwark Alliance?
Mrs Y replied to macroban's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I wonder if this will affect the catchment areas for the new harris academy? Why the need for the boundary changes? Mrs Y -
I reported the leak to Thames Water on 14th September and twice weekly from then on. On Friday evening around 6:30 pm I reported the two hugh potholes in the Road and was informed by Thames Water someone would look again that evening. I was delighted to see driving through Forest Hill Road on Saturday morning that it had been surrounded by barriers. I think you should get on to Thames Water. The leak is being casued by a burst water main on Piermont Green.

Zephyr Thank you - I understand now. Mrs Y

Yep they will not get 1.7 million for the elms, with traffic sitting outside all day, and I still cannot undestand why the lorry traffic cannot go east along Colyton Road and along the other side of the Rye. Mrs Y

I wondered if I would need to explain anything as your grasp on reality seems to have slipped. Anyway I won't enter into further dispute as everyone is entitled to their opinion and I do not intend to alter yours merely to say, the comment simply means that Goodrich for very many years has been treated by Southwark as a flagship for the area's schools and used as a benchmark to measure other schools by. That does'nt happen by chance and your glib throwaway comments regarding past members of staff are totally uncalled for and grossly mistaken. I believe you are fairly new to the area and perhaps you should do your homework before making such pathetic and upsetting comments. You have a good school don't ruin it. And no, I am not and never have been a mamber of staff, I just happen to know and have worked with a lot of them, past and present and could'nt let your comments go unanswered. Goodbye.

To get back to the original question, did anyone apart from the DIY shop receive formal notification or consultation letters before the works commenced ? If not could anyone throw any light on the legality of it ? Because I believe it's a fact that throughout the borough, no transformed traffic junctions where lights have subsequently been installed have ever been reinstated. Judging by the comments posted so far, the overwhelming majority would like the zebra's restored and in three years time when everyone's used to the lights, will the argument still be as strong. I think there should be some form of binding agreement from the council and Thames Water to this effect. PS Did the cost of restoring the original crossing form part of the monies paid to Southwark by Thames Water ?

Louisa, You may have read by now that Kennedy's are going to close down their last remaining 9 shops and stop trading.

Sillywoman, I'd read between the lines of DPFairy's remarks there seems to be underlying problems there. I completly agree with Claire and Chav/Law. Oggers, Goodrich is a good school and like most things you get out what you put in. Which is part of the reason why it has such a solid parent base. Support, not back stabbing sneers aimed at people who over the years have given their all to teach, help, support, guide and above all give a good grouding to hundreds, no thousands of children, who as I can testify still return to pay a visit, born out of respect and appreciation for a caring, effective set of teachers and staff whom without would be a much worse place now, if indeed it would even still exist. DPF be thankful for what you have, don't waste it, and let's see where it is in another twenty years. Mr Y.

A close friend assures me that the houses in Upland and Dunstans both have clock faces with petrol pumps outside and were both owned and built by the same person. The folly in question at Dunstans is, as previously mentioned, fully operational with chimes on the hour, complete with weather vane, arched doorway and stained glass window. Very impressive I think.

The layout of the junction allows good views of all adjoining roads therefore keeping it safe. If, depending on the plans, the island was planted out or a piece of art, or for that matter any type of structure (not to upset you arty types) installed it could well obscure drivers vision especially as drivers increasingly ignore vehicles on the roundabout and cut in. A centered single tree, in my opinion would appease both arguments. PS I've no objection to art being introduced but, in a structured way and of a suitable nature to the envirnment it's in. Has any thought been given to why the area is called Goose Green, mmmm there's an idea.

Please excuse my ignorance but, root canal treatment without anesthetic, does this guy practice faith healing as well ?
-
I completely agree with the notion of obscuring a drivers vision will be a danger at this junction, but if there are plans under way to install something to the roundabout then I'd rather a single tree planted in the center than another piece of modern art which would no doubt be an eyesore and totally out of place. When is a pharmacy not a pharmacy? (Sainsbury's)
Mrs Y replied to David Mc's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi Speaking as a reformed smoker, may I offer a suggestion to Sainsbury's that they consider a home delivery service for prescription items to be delivered with the carrots and potatos. Problem solved Mrs Y -
Evening, Just a quick update, I have received an acknowledgement from Southwark's call centre following my recent email. Let's hope it gets to the right department before the new Harris Academy is built. On a more positive note it appears the lights have been re-phased as the South bound traffic seemed a little lighter tonight. Here's hoping! Mrs Y

Hi Guys I understand that the Magdela in Lord ship Lane has a team. Mrs Y

I totally agree with Simon, The most obvious exit route would be to turn right into Colyton Road but this would take them passed the school, so presumably this is why this route has been chosen. As for Everyman comments I was sitting in sationary traffic this evening heading South on Forest Hill Road when I witnessed two near misses with cyclists having to ride up the centre of the road and even worse children trying to cross behind a stationary bus. I have lived near Forest Hill Road for Twenty Five Years and have never seen or heard of an accident on the old crossing and it certainly never casued the the problems the lights have in such a short time. Surely the whole point of change is to improve the environment not to take backward steps. Fine if its a short fix, but there is most definately a need to restore the orginal crossing on completion. People have also mentioned consultation, surely this is not only to mention it at Community Council meetings for the usual few activists to decide upon but for the local community to have a voice. Mrs Y

Thank you for your support on this issue. I have also penned an email to environment@southwark and will let you know the outcome. Mrs Y

Morning all, I understand that works need to be done to the water main, but I wonder if Southwark Council could have looked into an alernative to installing traffic lights at this junction. It will be interesting to see what happens over the nexts few weeks when we all return to work and the children return to school after the Summer break. We need assurances from Southwark that the junction will be restored to its original layout. Given the lack of communication in its construction I assume Southwark intend to leave it there permanently hoping no one will complain. Hopefully one of the local councillors will pick this up as a local issue. We shall see. Mrs Y

Had any one received a consultation letter, prior to the new traffic lights being installed at the junction of Forest Hill Road with Colyton Road. As I think this has be badly thought out. Even before the schools have gone back the traffic is already starting to tail back it is also casuing a hazard to pedestrians as well as motorists joining Forest Hill Road either side of the junction. I understand it has been installed to enable to Water Board works to be carried out. I wonder if there was another alternative.
