  1. Many many thanks to the 2,000+ Peckham Rye Ward residents who re-elected Vikki, Gavin and I as Peckham Rye Ward Councillors. We feel deeply honoured to be able to represent and serve the residents and businesses of Peckham Rye Ward and beyond for the next term. Renata
  2. Hi all, if you know the owner of the property, you could firstly ask them to trim their bushes, if not (or if you don't want to approach them directly) then contact Environmental Services on 02075252000 or [email protected] (emailed pictures are always useful). They will then come and investigate and contact the owner. If the owner doesn't respond and do something about the overgrown bush (particularly when it is causing obstruction), then Southwark will prune the bush and bill the resident for the work. Renata
  3. I discussed this with Council officers a couple of weeks ago. The paperwork is being prepared to go on the website, I will chase this up after the elections. Renata
  4. Hi everyone, I know plans and consultation documents are being developed for the Southwark website. I won't however, be able to find out when this will go on-line until after the election, Renata
  5. As it is Election Day tomorrow, the surgery has been cancelled, the next surgery will be on Friday 6th June at Peckham Rye Park TRA at 6.30pm Renata
  6. Hi all, thank you to all the residents who've raised the issue of this tree. I've just raised your concerns with senior council officers (and told them about this thread). I've just had it confirmed that as a result of this, the scheduled felling of the plane tree outside 201 Grove Lane has now been postponed to allow a more widespread consultation process and further investigations to take place. Renata
  7. So James, is this not using your thread as a political platform? This is certainly not ED specific either. 8. Hi PeckhamRose, I did report it in the potentially dangerous category! Renata
  9. Hi James, you really need to remove the statement that you made on this forum, quoted below, it's outrageous! I now have the figures for residential property disposal for East Dulwich since 2010. It's 16 properties, ie an average of 4 per year. Pugwash, there are plans for over 55 accomodation for the East Dulwich area, but unfortunately I don't have further details at the moment. Once the elections are over, I can investigate this further for you. 10. Hi this was reported to TFL and is being investigated, I haven't heard anything back from them yet, Renata
  11. Hi Henry, I'll make enquiries and get back to you, Renata
  12. Hi Hollie, schools operate Nursery admissions, so there is not set date for letting you know if a place is available for your child. They also don't have a set admissions criteria, eg some give sibling priority and others don't and purely allocate on distance or date of birth. Hi Hellosailor, do you know how many Nursery places Bessemer has? I'm asking as a similar situation with Ivydale in 2012 led to a bulge in 2013 as there was a record number of siblings there (2013 entry 60 siblings/other priority). Thanks Renata
  13. Hi all, this year is different to how it will be next, next year Harris will be in central application system and there won't be a local election shortly after primary outcomes. Please pm me the details of this please Peggoula. Renata
  14. In terms of receipts that the Council holds, they have already been earmarked for expenditure towards Labour's commitment to build 11,000 council homes, our continued warm, dry & safe major housing external refurbishment programme and internal upgrades for our tenants. The new homes being built are a variety of size and type, this would include properties for the over 55s. Renata
  15. Hi James, It is incorrect to state that it is Labour policy to firstly, sell-off any council tenancy that falls vacant and secondly, that a property worth more than ?300,000 is automatically sold rather than being offered to another tenant. There will therefore not be a sudden decrease in the number of council properties in East Dulwich It has been standard Council policy for years, to review where a property is empty and void (usually a period street property) and also in need of substantial repair, to balance that cost with selling it in the interests of sound public finance. Since 2010 a total of 138 void homes have been sold; this is out of a total of 55,000 properties ie 0.0025%.The policy that set the figure at ?300,000, as a threshold for the consideration to sell, was agreed by the Liberal Democrats in March 2009, when they were in power and not by the Labour Party. Labour has already given a commitment in Council Assembly to review this figure upwards to ?500,000 or ?600,000. Overall, approximately 1,000 council homes have been sold, removed or demolished since 2010, compared with 2,570 between 2006 and 2010 and 6,181 between 2002 and 2006 under the Liberal Democrats. In total since 2002, under the Liberal Democrats 8,751 council homes were sold, removed or demolished ? over 1,000 a year. Renata
  16. Hi Peggoula, the waiting lists are being updated regularly; it's Councillors who can't get information until after the election, parents can. The lists are kept at Southwark and they pass the info onto Community primaries. Academies/Free/VA Schools operate their own admissions policies and procedures, hence why it can be more difficult to get waiting list positions for those schools. Renata
  17. Hi Peggoula, waiting lists are updated quickly, I don't know however what the situation is with Harris ED and other CAF school dual place offers. What I've found out via a parent (I couldn't get the answer myself!) is that certain priority groups eg Children who have ever been in care and multiple births, where one has a place, means the admission number for a school can go over that published. The result is eg if there is a second twin and a adopted child, they can push the number in the reception list to 62, 2 over the admission number. No place will be offered to anyone from the waiting list until the list is reduced to below 60. New applicants are integrated onto the list in admissions criteria order for example a sibling where an older child has joined the school goes above all those who applied on distance. If someone moves in an area and lives closer to it than you, they will go higher up the waiting list and you will be bumped down a slot. From what I have sen in previous years, waiting list positions can be a bit like roller coasters, you can be moving up and down from one day to the next. For example on day 1 you may be 6 on a list on day 2, 7 and on day 3 6 again, contrary to how it appears, an error wasn't made on day 2, some one joined the list above you and on day 3 someone gave up their place. Admissions will contact you if/when a place become available. I know that this seems very disheartening, but upward movement does occur on the list, but unfortunately there is no way to predict what will happen with the list for a particular school. Renata
  18. Hi all, we are in Purdah at the moment (pre-election period) this means that officers are not answering my inquiries, and won't do so until after the election now. I have asked the question re Harris Free School and the offer via the CAF system and what happens if you turn down the CAF school. I couldn't get an answer and I was told that the resident needs to put in a request themselves, so please email [email protected] Sorry Renata
  19. Hi James, I think parents with young children living in the vicinity of Ivydale are delighted that it's going to expand. As the school will be split over two sites, there will be the equivalent pupil numbers of a two form entry school on each site. It does require good leadership and a well thought through senior leadership structure. I have great faith in the current leadership of the school that they will continue to lead a good and popular school. The Stuart Road site gives the opportunity for the school to provide new facilities that couldn't be possible within the current Grade II listed building. Renata
  20. Hi Nikki, deferring until January is not that usual, particularly with summer born children. Until a couple of years ago, most Southwark primaries had split entry, with the younger half of the class starting in January. Renata
  21. Credit also to Peckham and Brunswick Park Ward Councillors and GLA Member Val Shawcross who campaigned with local residents to highlighted the issues with the woefully insufficient capacity on the 343 between Peckham and Elephant and Castle, the 136 is following the 343 route between Peckham and Elephant and Castle. Renata
  22. Hi First Mate, this is the adventure playground for 5-15 year olds (some of the items actually are more 7-8 plus), they are at school during the week between around 9am to 3.30pm, hence why it's available to rent during these times. This is not a traditional playground with swings, slide etc geared up towards younger children. Renata
  23. Hi all, as some of you may go straight to the family room, I'm duplicating my post from the main forum page, in case some of you here are interested to read about what is the situation with the Small Acres School and the Adventure Playground. Also to add, that Play Services are thinking to make a part of the adventure playground area more interesting to older children with high wires, walkways etc. Anyone's thoughts on this? Renata The Small Acres school, is a small group of home schooling parents who pay rent for use of the Adventure Playground area for group homeschooling. They rent this during the daytime, during school terms when other children are at their own schools and therefore don't use this room to play table tennis etc (the facility wouldn't be open for public use then). This is similar to eg private Nurseries who may rent a TRA or Church Hall during the week. The currently rent the space for two or three sessions a week, their bookings are done on a short-term, termly basis. Anyone can book this space. Local primary schools do book it for outdoor activities too. It can be booked by community groups or individuals(eg for birthday parties). Either speak to Terry Jones, the playworker on site after school/Saturday or email Garry Martin in Southwark Play Services [email protected]. Currently, Monday and Friday during school hours and Sunday afternoon are available, also Saturdays during school holidays. The rent from the Small Acres Group and anyone who hires the facility goes directly back into the Adventure Playground Kitty, to enable all our children to use the facilities for free, after school, on Saturdays and during school holidays. The homeschoolers can use Peckham Rye Park just as any other user. Any local child can go into the park and measure trees etc! I hope this clarifies the situation. Renata
  24. Both good, popular schools. I would suggest visit both and put the one you like best higher on your CAF. Yes, agree usually the last place distance is larger for Goodrich than Heber, simply because it's a larger school. Renata
  25. Hi all, to clarify, the water feature cost ?3,000 pounds.
