Hi Henry, it's small and very energy inefficient, it's a corrugated metal structure that was meant to be used temporarily over half a century ago, also there are issues with it's proximity to large trees. Hi I agree the water channel didn't work, the area there was funded by a play builder grant (I don't remember how much the scheme cost, but in terms of play equipment, I know it was a low cost scheme). Katgod, the plans are currently being put into a form in which they can go into the Southwark website and forms set up so that people can comment on-line. Hi Bonacara, Simonethebeaver is correct. If you accept the place offered you still will remain on the waiting list of all your 6 applied for schools. This goes on until September. Accepting the offered place has no impact at all as to what happens on the 6 waiting lists. If a place comes up for your child for one of the schools you applied for, you have the choice to accept it or reject it (eg you may decide at that point you prefer the allocated school to the offered one eg 6th choice and still hold out for school no 1 or 2). Hi MrsC, it excludes siblings and as an crow flies distance to a set point on the school grounds, which may be a bit different to eg a distance calculated on free map tools. Renata

Hi again Katgod, Where individual schools do their banding it tends to be banded according to those who apply to the school. In the case of the Lewisham community schools, it's a central test for all of those, so it would be on the Lewisham residents rather than one particular school. I would suggest you go for your favorite school anyway, and remember you have 6 choices so put down a couple that you don't like as much, but would be OK as backup at the bottom of your list, ie rank your schools in true order of preference. Even if you don't get a preferred school initially, there is always movement on waiting lists. Renata

Hi Katgod, the Lewisham schools (ie LA run schools, excludes eg Haberdashers) do a central banding in year 5 for their children and then this is used by the individual schools for splitting up their applicants. I'm happy to help if you'll need some help in the autumn re secondary. Renata

Hi all, banding test for admissions are separate to the CAT and other tests that children sit to set them for different subjects. Harris girl's also do the take all applicants, rank and split into equal size groups and then allocate distance places on as the crow flies distance. Southwark used to have a banding test in it's primaries, but this was abandoned as all the secondary schools in the borough are academies/VA etc and didn't want to use the outcomes from the Southwark banding as they have their own assessments. Hello again everyone, a further update, legally as the lines are there, signs can't be put up too. One good bit of news is than once the site is set up (probably by Tuesday) it is highly likely that some of the lines will be removed, particularly on the even side of the road. Renata

Hi debw, I've spoken to Senior Council Officers and were informed that the lines have definitely been done to allow for anti-flooding works on the sewers. Renata

I was informed that residents can park there until the 28th (Monday), but there is no definite date of when they can park there once more as of course the works could either be completed earlier or over run! I have asked for an update when the date of completion is known and when residents can park in front of their homes once more in case there is any lag between completion and line removal. I have also requested signs to state from the 28th April. Renata

Dear all, I have now received a response. Contrary to what is said by Cllr Barber above these lines were NOT SUBMITTED TO NOR APPROVED by Peckham Rye Councillors at Community Council. The installation of yellow lines along Hindmans Rd is temporary. The lines have been installed to enable Thames Water to install an anti flood device to prevent internal sewer flooding to Hindmans Road properties.They are necessary to maintain traffic flow during the works. Works are due to start on Monday 28th April and are expected to be completed by 19th May. Once occupation of site is in place the lines either side of site can be removed and remaining linage opposite site will be removed on completion of the works. I have been assured parking restrictions will not be enforced until Monday 28th April. Southwark had instructed Thames Water to letter drop to all residents on Hindmans Road a month ago. Thames Water evidently failed to carry out their duty in this case. I so sorry that my Ward Residents have had such stress and inconvenience and that the reasons behind the lines has not been communicated to you prior to their installation (nor to Cllrs either!). The lines should be removed shortly after the works have been completed. Renata

These are the figures for National Offer day, so I would assume these are the correct figures for Ivydale on offer day, so smaller last place distance for Ivydale, but like last year, 30 places were offered on distance even though there is no bulge this year (many fewer siblings). Hi Katgod, bands are independent to SATs. Schools send on SATs info and a report before a child starts their secondary. Banding tests are typically non-verbal reasoning tests. Southwark has no central test anymore as all its schools are Academies/Faith and therefore have their own admissions criteria/assessments. Children are ranked according to score, and in terms of the Lewisham system, they are split into 5 groups each containing 20% of applicants. The Haberdashers Federation do it in a similar way but use 9 bands (done on a school by school basis). Harris use a very similar system too. Renata

Hi Chelsea, what you have been told is correct for Lewisham. There is however a way around it! What you need to do is contact Lewisham admissions and withdraw your original list of 6 schools. You then submit a new list of 6 schools, including Kelvin Grove as one of those schools. It doesn't need to be your first choice as as in your previous application each school will be considered. If You are not eligible for higher ranked schools than Kelvin Grove, then you would be added onto their waiting list positions (basically going back into the rank order where you are at present. Southwark residents who wish to be added to the waiting list of a Lewisham school need to follow a similar procedure but via Southwark. Be aware that if you are holding a place at one of schools you have applied for or allocated a local school you will lose this, so this process is not recommended unless you were allocated a school not on your list and it's one you definitely don't want. Hi all again, I have received clarification from Southwark re: applications to Lewisham schools. It is not automatic to go on waiting lists for Lewisham schools. Southwark, however, asks Lewisham that all Southwark residents are put on waiting lists for the schools above the one they have received. This means Southwark residents don't need to do anything re Lewisham schools they have applied for and didn't get allocated (ie it is automatic for Southwark residents). They will need to contact Lewisham if they wish to add their name to any other waiting lists. Lewisham are not releasing any waiting list data until mid-May. I don't know the arrangements for other LAs, you'll need to contact them to find out their cross border arrangements and Lewisham if you're a Lewisham resident. ALso I've had confirmed if you have been allocated a school that's too inconvenient, far away (or you don't want!), the following local schools have the shortest waiting lists, St Mary Magdalene, (C of E or places on distance), Hollydale (distance), St Francesca Cabrini (Catholic or distance) and Dulwich Wood (distance). If you live in the South Nunhead area, Turnham may be one to try (Lewisham). Adding your name to the lists of one of the above schools, will not have any impact on your waiting list position of other schools. Renata
