  1. Congratulations to you. Girls are the best! :)
  2. Glad to know you and your neighbours are safe New Bhoy. What a terrifying experience for you.
  3. You're being facetious right? They are planning their social calendars not play dates (yet) ! Edited to add - unfortunately we're away for the half term break then so Seamus won't be there.
  4. Poor you Pickle, I just saw your thread. Sounds like a gastro thing and wouldn't be surprised if you came down with it too (fingers crossed you don't) as you've been thrown up on so often today. Like everyone else recommended, lots of liquid so they don't get dehydrated. Hope it gets better soon. Best, -C x ps- I have a tumble dryer if you ever need to use it!

In China and Japan they tie ropes around their necks and make them dive for fish. The rope harnesses the bird so it comes back and also prevents it from swallowing its find.

  7. Okay, thanks for clarification. I really don't understand what about Iain's post was libellous, potentially or otherwise as I did read it twice having had trouble with the definition of the word 'nonce' especially after reading Timster's comment on it. HOWEVER, back on topic, I feel Hugger's parallel with Polanski's relationship with Kinski is very relevant as it shows he has a history of disregarding the laws that are put in place to protect children. Deleting it because it was in your view not relevant was a bit overkill, why not just tell him to stick to the topic rather than taking whole posts away. Sorry to carry on about this but it disrupts the normal flow of discussion that you are trying to promote in the D.R. and it's censorship. Best, -C

They have given residents speed data which > usually doesn't justify any measures! They have? When? This area could definitely use them. Agree with Panda Boy that the cushion speed bumps encourage people to drive quickly down the centre of the road but at least they are better than some of the speeds I've seen people driving around ED roads without them.

Yoooooo hoooooooo, over heeeere! (waves green, white and orange scarf from roof top)
  10. No, I saw your post twice Huggers about the Brook Shields exhibition, etc. And twice it disappeared. Chair you did not answer my question about deleting posts due to 'Sun-style' writing or because it was simply off topic. I think it's too much deletion of communicative material (since we're on a wiki roll). Perhaps I'm not intelligent enough to be in the lounge and am missing the point of something which could very well be the case, but it is censorship and I don't think it's appropriate in this day and age especially as it was not malicious or libellous (and I am used to censorship living in China!). Best, -C
  11. The style of telephones are usually what does it for me. Agree that American accents in any movie set pre 1900s and outside of America is irritating.
  12. Isn't nonce 'not of normal criminal ethos' ? I think it is a suitable word describing Polanski.

Is that to prevent anyone from sending Mick Mac a private message?? Can you do that Sean? Is it your Admin or Chair shift?
  15. The Chair Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Several messages in this thread have been purged > on grounds ranging from simply wandering too far > off topic to resembling a feedback page of "The > Sun" on a bad day. Is that not going way beyond the censorship call of duty? If it's off topic, simply say so but to delete a whole post is odd. I don't think there was anything libellous about Huggers' post (I'm assuming as their post was deleted twice). The discussion seemed pretty tame and was certainly not heated to the point of people making sweeping generalisations or reverting to name calling as I've seen elsewhere. Sorry, I am now off topic.

I think if you start talking some real rubbish about him he'd get here a lot quicker than you think.
  17. I agree with Pickle in that Iain is such a breath of fresh air on this forum. Your posts always make me smile and I like reading them. On topic, conkers scare the life out of me. I'm always worried that I'll get my eye knocked out...I'd only feel safe in a motorcycle helmet.

should we take bets as to how long it will take him to discover this thread?
  19. to you he can be... Now off to Luca's with my children and pushchair(s).
  20. He's hardly witty Sean and definitely has some kind of anger concerns. It's amazing what makes people boil over in anger. Buggies? Children? Come on now people, keep it in perspective.
  21. God, some people have issues.
  22. I often see lollipop ladies (or men) working at pedestrian crossings. I think it's just to make doubly sure that people stop for school children. There is even a lollipop man working at the junction of Townley and LL at the traffic lights!
  23. what a novel idea.
  24. Wow such along time, but a well deserved break no doubt. I guess this is when the West Dulwich or the Nunhead forums will pick up. Have a lovely holiday. -C
  25. My youngest daughter used to bite my husband on his ear when he gave her a cuddle and he would yelp in pain. She never bit me at all. It was all about testing boundaries and seeing what she could get away with and didn't last very long (although I was amused by it!).
