  1. Cats Protection have some suggestions as to what to do, don't know if you've tried all of them? If you are on Facebook, there are some local pages that you could try posting on? Good luck! I hope she is home soon.
  2. I regularly (at least once/daily) use the Reset new posts button after reading in here that it helps with the speed of the forum. Every now and then, something seems to go wrong with that and the number of new threads & posts jumps up - as in attached pic. I haven't blocked cookies and the ad blocker is turned off for the forum. It's not a big deal, but thought I'd bring it to admin's attention. Cheers
  3. Just had a first class letter posted on 4 March delivered. 2 weeks to travel 30 miles.
  4. We tried to buy some compost at the recycling centre and the men talked us out of it! We've had a leaflet through the door today about subscribing/renewing to garden waste, said to go to southwark.gov.uk/gardenwaste
  5. I had the Pfizer vaccine last night, slightly tender at injection site but no otherwise fine.
  6. There are 2 people in the lost and found section looking for keys :-)
  7. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/street-care/gritting "Salt bins are provided across the borough, particularly in areas difficult to access in icy conditions, allowing residents and passing motorists to treat the carriageway and footway within the area."
  8. Yes, your street would be useful. Also there is a Lost and Found section of the forum so you may wish to post there as well.
  9. Ah I feel for you Foxy! I do enjoy it, though sometimes my bread is a failure and I don't understand why. I only started during lockdown so apparently still have years to go before I am an expert. I know you prefer in person shopping, but I asked for a banneton for Christmas (didn't get one), and pointed my family to these 2 sites that are selling them (and aren't Amazon), both have oval and round baskets of various sizes: Shipton Mill: https://www.shipton-mill.com/flour-direct-shop/books-etc/baking-equipment Nisbets: https://www.nisbets.co.uk/kitchenware-and-knives/pastry-and-baking-supplies/bread-proving-baskets/_/a33-3 I've just been using a bowl with a clean tea towel thus far, but would like a basket. Guess I'll have to buy my own...
  10. Some people like the taste of meat but don't want the cruelty associated with killing animals. Some people like to eat food that's like what they were familiar with before they went vegetarian/vegan. Some people want to eat less meat. There's nothing about the word sausage or burger than indicates that it's come from an animal. It's basically a shape indicator. Using words that people are familiar with gives them an idea of what it's like. Nobody is going to something called a veggie or vegan burger and be confused that it's not beef/chicken/whatever. There are lots of vegetarians/vegans who don't eat these products. These products don't make up a large proportion of most vegetarians/vegans diets. In fact, a lot of these products are bought by people who are trying to reduce the amount of meat they are eating, or just fancy trying something different. It's about choice, making things easy etc. Why should it bother you? So many articles, you can see it's a very common question. These are just a few of the first that came up on google: https://plantbasednews.org/opinion/vegans-hypocrites-realistic-fake-meat/ https://www.livekindly.co/what-point-vegan-fake-meat/ https://chooseveg.com/blog/why-do-vegans-eat-fake-meat/ https://www.her.ie/food/meat-substitutes-501566 \https://www.glueandglitter.com/why-do-vegans-eat-fake-meat/
  11. Large letter sent first class from Hastings on 2 Jan just arrived today.
  12. The Fox Project have local volunteers, so definitely worth contacting if you see her regularly. You will need to be able to tell them usually where/what time of day you see her so that they can catch her.
  13. Sue, you could try approaching it and see if it flies away? If you can catch it, then it's not well. :-) I've taken a poorly pigeon to the Neighbourhood Vet before, they have a connection with a wildlife rescue. If you can get it into a box, you could take it there? or ring them for advice?
  14. I think so. He was on the BBC London news last night and it looked like they had a collection point in the doorway.
  15. These stars are beautiful! Sue was a joy to communicate with and hand delivered the stars to my home at a mutually convenient time. I had bought them as gifts, but am tempted to keep them for myself!
  16. I wonder if you posted a reply to this message /forum/read.php?12,7287 whether that would bring the admin's attention to it? I see that there is a post in the About this forum section from someone who is an existing advertising also having trouble, so perhaps the admins are away or something?
  17. Our previous boiler engineer retired so we were stuck for a while, but a friend recommended Scott James, who has been checking hers & her mother's boilers for years. He did an annual service on our combi boiler in November. He was very courteous and behaved in a Covid-safe manner. He's based in SE25. I checked the Gas Safe Register and he is on there (300630). Telephone 07808 005 844. He is quite busy so we had to wait a week before he could fit us in. Hope that helps!
  18. Our post office (Forest Hill Road) has a parcel drop area. Could you not drop it on the main one on Lordship Lane? If you've put postage on it already, you should be able to skip the queue and go in to drop it off.
  19. Mimi's Rodent rescue in Stratford has mice looking for a new home: https://www.facebook.com/MimisRodentRescue/
  20. Yes, this happened to me - with the number plate the police and/or insurance can find them. We had all our damage fixed paid for by them.
  21. Emmaus in West Norwood might be able to as well? https://emmaus.org.uk/lambeth/donate-goods/book-a-collection/
  22. I don't know if you are on Facebook, but someone has started a group for local makers to share their work with the local community: https://www.facebook.com/groups/225697658207965/ Not strictly East Dulwich, it's called "Supporting Creative Makers In SE London Online Craft Fair" https://www.facebook.com/groups/225697658207965/ (I'm not a seller, I've just joined it to support local makers)
