Here is small list of 'unique' broadcasters in the same vein as the BBC India - Prasar Bharati: Pakistan - PBC : Hong Kong - RTHK : Japan NHK : Malaysia - RTM: Italy - RAI: Denmark DR: Norway - NRK: Sweden - SR: Finland - YLE : Chile - Television Nacional: ....just a few other unique ones! It?s the biggest broadcaster in the world because and only because it takes the most amount of money from the inhabitants of the country it is based in. Rather like the fact that Prince William is bleeding rich because he was born into money, there is no mystery here; the BBC is not a divine gift from the gods made great by the best of middle class Britain. But people do believe that and that?s why it is such an arrogant corporation.

SKY built a satellite based multi platform years ago (no small feat) and have barely touched it since, the BBC were laughing about it back in the 90's then 8 years later when they realized they had been shafted they had to run to the government (ask for extra money) and build free view at a huge cost, that will be defunct soon as its already full of shite and repeats, now they have moved into online again without thinking...they just make it up as they go along and successive governments fall for it. Now the select committee have turned them over Thompson is now singing about partnerships to anyone who will listen. grab his statements 6-months back about how the BBC is unique and can not tie up with anyone, he is a u-turn waiting to happen, why because he does not have the first fucking clue, he spent most of his early years in TV biting people ! So to summarise i reckon you could get everything you still enjoy for a fraction of the fucking costs if they just concentrated on making programs and centralized all the other stuff. The problem with that though would be the power would swing back to the people who know how to make telly and the endless layers of management would be...er....well screwed. yes charlie my friend but the point being that the bbc could still provide the iplayer and bbc news for about 31p a week from every person in the country with a TV, i could then top that up with a few other bits i want and be left with 8 quid a month to spend somewhere else. If you are to have such a debate then you need to set your bar slightly higher, you would also need to think about the things that you do not know about, things that if you did would make you react in the same way as say an MP claiming for firelighters and paint from farrow and ball !

I have just read an article that mentioned both Coldharbour lane in Brixton and Barry Road in ED as the two most fearsome areas within the Dulwich peninsula, the Vogue article goes on to mention that residents of nearby Peckham are becoming increasingly concerned that this late night drinking and general 'brits' abroad attitude of those that frequent the 'lane' area may creep it's way into the more gentile and arts based communities of Se15. The article goes onto to mention a dinner with Frank Malony and Anthony Gormley where the idea of some kind of statue for the ED area was mooted, the hope being that the statue would kick start some sense of regeneration and bring a much needed 'cool' factor to the area.
