mrwb Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Why would they close for a refurb in the middle of > lockdown when demand for supermarkets is at its > highest? > > Wouldn't it make more sense to do in a few months? Hi mrwb.. The Co-op seems to be in a really bad state of disrepair. Water coming in through the ceiling at the back of the store . Regular Freezer breakdowns.. Power failures .. Aisles with no lighting.. Poor Layout in certain areas especially in at the checkouts... The store just looks Tatty .. Shabby.. disorganised.. I think they may need more than a month to sort out their problems. DulwichFox

Thank you nxjen. That is quite reassuring. The political situation has changed because of Brexit and Vaccine distribution. I would prefer the new vaccine that requires just a single shot. I think most people might feel the same.. ?? I think we will all be a lot happier to have this all behind us. Foxy

Untrue.. I am waiting to have my Cataracts done. Waited over 2 years, I am told I will need to wait another 18 weeks. Then they will decide if they will do them. I will need to isolate for 10 days and # have signed a disclaimer that the operation could make me lose my sight completely. Also a disclaimer that I cannot claim if I contract Covid whilst at the Hospital St Thomas's Being 68 (69 in April) I am in Tier 5 (Over 65's) I understand that I should have my Vaccine by Sept, 2021. Nothing is Guarantied. Tier 5 is now Vulnerable people A friend of mine who I have known since we were both 5 y/o who is in my will died a couple of weeks ago from Covid Pneumonia , Her sister also in my will now has Covid and also her Husband. I'm very concerned People simple do not understand how contagious this Virus is. Worth risking for a Hog Roast, a tray of Viat fast food. or Souvlaki.. Wake up ! DulwichFox Foxy.

One VERY big problem in the Co-op is that the Ailes are constantly crammed / blocked with huge cages of Goods and empty Cardboard boxes making it difficult to negotiate and avoid other customers. I realise the need for continuous restocking, but there is constant chaos as there is at checkout(s)? No one seems to be in Charge. Foxy

So no reason to have to > go through north cross road really. Not worried about 200 steps . but when its cold and wet I want to get out as little as possible and stay in the warm. Before Covid I was walking 4 - 5 Miles a day. I use Lucas to buy Loose Flour and Use Lloyds for regular medical needs Asthma medicine.. From DMC and Diabetic Blood sugar test strips. I am local here for last 41 years (25 years in Ulverscroft. } Why should anyone like myself be restricted and told what roads I should and should not use Why should ANYONE be told what roads they should and should not use. (Apologies for any incorrect use of Grammar or Spelling ) Fox

Gateways.. Somerfields .. Co-op .. What ever it's been, it has been a Failure.. Why is that?? It cannot be Geographic. ? It seems to be a Prime Location. Too big for a corner shop... Too small for a Real Supermarket .. DulwichFox

KidKruger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Foxy, the quickest route to LL for you is down > Whateley Rd. > Only when you want to arrive on LL further North > does the market street (NX) feature as a viable > route (when no Covid). Whateley is Not quicker. It is longer by 200 steps. North Cross has shops which is a nicer route, Not a problem when the Market is not open. the market IS a problem. There was a Snow ball fight in a Field 50 odd people.. Loads of space.. The organiser was fine ?10,000 Market in a congested area with 100's of people Why aren't Market organisers being fined. ? Cannot give an example at the mo but I'm sure I have read/heard from somewhere that other markets have had to close. East Dulwich seems to be outside the law. People with a lot of clout. Friends in the right places. Foxy ETA Broadway Market in Hackney forced to close due to lack of social distancing as shoppers flout rules. Covid-19: Bovingdon Market 'closed indefinitely' over safety fears Shuttered by Covid: The end of Dagenham Sunday Market A Christmas market in Nottingham has been shut down for the rest of the year after criticism over a lack of social distancing. Cambridge Market shut down as Covid spreads rapidly through city Just a few examples I have Found. What do they have in common ? Responsible Councils.. Southwark does nothing.

Do away with the post .. Too costly.. The Mayor's salary is ?152,734. per year The salary of an Assembly Member is currently ? 58,543. per year except for the Statutory Deputy Mayor which is ?105,269. per year and the Chair of the Assembly which is ? 70,225. per year 1 Ken Livingstone 4 May 2008 2 Boris Johnson 9 May 2016 3 Sadiq Khan Incumbent None of them have done anything of benefit. Going to Lordship Lane M&S or Co-op it is a natural route to go through North Cross Road I also use Lucas and LLoyds Pharmacy on a regular basis. I try and avoid on Market days. The market is packed. It does not need to be open under the current situation. DulwichFox

Marshalls are stopping people not wearing Masks walking through North Cross Road but ignoring Stall Holders preparing and selling Food not wearing masks. I spoke to one such Stall holder (Fast Food) not wearing a mask. He said he did not have to wear a mask because he had been Vaccinated. I said he could possibly still pass on Covid. He was 20-30 so do not know under what scheme he may of been Vaccinated. Fast Food to eat as you walk along is NOT Essential Let's put a Stop to it. DulwichFox

I think one of the main downers of the Co-op is its Pricing inconsistency Pringles one day ?1.50 then ?3.00 Guiness 4 cans ?4.75 - ?5.50 Cadburys Fruit&nut ?1.00 - ?1.65 Walkers Crisps ?1.25 - ?1.65 Maltesas ?3.00 - ?4.50 Just a few examples.. Thing is, you pick up a few items thinking you Know the price and get a shock when you get the see the bill when you get home. If you get one ?? I always check before I leave the store. On MANY occasions some Items have been scanned twice. I have gone back to the till and this had led to delays for other customers waiting in the queue as bill has to be checked and if having paid by card it has to be refunded to card as cash cannot be given. I have seen other customers questioning their Bill but most people do not even check.. DulwichFox

Had a major disaster this lunch time.. Discarded a lot of my starter and fed the remaining starter with 50g Flour 50g Water Went shopping and on return my stater was very active and ready to use. Filled my bowl with water salt and small amount of sugar 5grms as I was adding my starter the whole lot tipped over and I lost the lot. Lucky I had not put the flour in. Fortunately I had kept the discarded starter to one side so I have fed it and we are off again. I wonder if all this is worth it ?? Such Fun Foxy

Looks like more people are baking during these difficult times.. I have several loaf tins but the Proving Baskets are for shaping Foxy.

Hi Jules-and-Boo Hello there. I have made my first Sourdough loaf with some success but Not perfect. I was feeding my Starter and it was Active and Rising and Falling (Bubbles) so I was feeding it and ended up with a huge jar full. Then It then stopped Bubbling and become less active. Did a lot of research and found this Video on Youtube. The guy Jack is very helpful and has many Vids.. It would seem I might just have Too Much Starter Have you made any bread with your starter Foxy

Yes Marshals and Police on the Market. Marshal asking people to put on masks. I spoke to Marshal who said he was asking people to put Mask on which they did (so they did have a Mask) but he said when he goes they just take it off again. Blatant disregard of any Rules. Marshal and Police say nothing they can do, ?100 on the spot Fine might help. People simply do not give a Toss (polite version) DulwichFox There was a guy Busking .. Singing st the top of his Voice. Spoke to Marshal who just said.. "nice music"
