Well they are into Clog dancing in those parts... http://www.abingdonblog.co.uk/imag10/10050805.jpg ..and Molly Dancing in other parts.. There are dozens of Morris Traditions from all over England.. Possibly originating from Moorish The Moors...Spain. Foxy
  2. Small restaurant (seating 24-30)/ shop 50-60K rent p/a plus rates.. Electicity.. Gas.. insurance ... upkeep .. staff... DulwichFox
  3. Back in the 80's I was a Morris dancer drinking 6+ pints of Strong Ale a day.. I was fit.. Could not do that now.. Drinking or Dancing. Certainly not both.. lol Foxy.

Normally I would drink 1 or 2 pints over 2 hours. when I go out or have the occasional night off.. I'm not knocking back pints and shots.. bottles of red wine. might have a Drambuie at bed time.. Hope that's ok. ? lol Foxy..

It wasn't hard to stop.. I have been cutting down for several years to what I might of drunk 10 years ago... Like I said based on 3 pints a night @ ?4.00 per pint -- ?12.00 per night is ?4,380 per annum. I do out for a meal and often just drink water. Alcohol ruins the taste of food.. IMHO. I go out to meet people , not specifically to drink. I drink very little alcohol. By staying in a few nights a week I saved ?1,000 + in 2015.. ?2,400 in 2013.. ?320.00 in Jan 2016. I did have 2 good holidays in 2014 and 2 in 2015. So money saved is put to good use.. Most pubs in East Dulwich are pretty dire and I have very little desire to travel further afield just to drink 1-2 pints.. I seldom drink alcohol during the day.. DulwichFox
  6. Yep . Congrats to littlemissj. I got through too. but had a bout of Flu (the real one) so did not feel so good at end of month. Will probably do it againg in June. Foxy

  8. Visiting the Mosque is of little significance.. It's a private place of prayer.. Getting to know its people is more relevant.. I know many people from our local Mosque.. Some of them I have known for over 35 years.. Themselves, fathers and children in some cases.. Just talk to people.. DulwichFox..
  9. Some usefull info.. Climbs take place in all conditions unless the weather is extreme. Gales, lightning, heavy snow, ice and anything that makes it unsafe will mean we need to close. Call 020 8463 2000 to check on the day. http://www.theo2.co.uk/do-more-at-the-o2/up-at-the-o2/the-climbs DulwichFox

Any suggestions? > ;-) The very essence of a Village is that it is isolated and everyone that lives there knows everyone else. That could never be said of East Dulwich.. East Dulwich is not isolated but many people that live there feel isolated in themselves. Just visit any East Dulwich pub most nights, you will be spoilt for choice as far as Idiots go.. DulwichFox
  11. I think there is confusion as to what constitutes South London.. People tend to use The Thames as a north / south devide.. This is not a very accurate way of looking at things. Take the Central Line as a guide and a more accurate picture emerges with a lot of 'South' London above the Thames. Here in East Dulwich geographicically we are on the extremities of London which was once indeed part of Surrey.. I think we are well served with transport links... Buses. 12 , 176 to the West End.. 40 to the London Bridge / City .. 185 to Victoria.. 63 to the City / Kings Cross Conections to Forest Hill Croydon onward to Gatwick.. Brighton.. Trains. To London Bridge.. Blackfriars and onward.. Victoria. To Bromley South and the coast.. Cannot see the problem.. I worked in The City / Borough for 40 years and used public transport for most of that time. Yes there were times when it was bad.. like 70s 80s. But it has never been better than it is now. Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > "Herne Hill came to a standstill on Saturday 30th > January 2016" > > > From the look of the photos that is something of > an exaggeration. Come on . be fair.. 700 people.. might not seem a lot.. If there were to be an article saying there were 700 Millwall fans gathered at London Bridge it woud be considered a big crowd. A mob.. Strange what you can do with stats.. Good to see all the young children learning to stand up for themselves.. against the big machine of greedy Dulwich Estates.. DulwichFox
  13. My first visit to the New Cherry Tree last night... Very pleasantly surprised.. Nice and cosy and warm.. Big fire in main bar .. Wood burner in back bar.. rads on.. Pleasant staff. Had an Amstel in tall Amstel glass. Not the usual thick flowerpots found elsewhere.. Food seemed reasonable priced.. Proof will be in the eating.. ? Was very quiet for a Thursday. They seemed to have had a problem with the Real Ale as all 4 pumps were off. :-( Sure it will get sorted soon.. In the words of EDF speak.. 'Will defo be back.. ' DulwichFox

I doubt very much Fazer that whatever medication you may be on, it would not be available on prescription. DulwichFox
  15. No one who has ever flown to an holiday destination has the right to complain about aircraft noise... DulwichFox.

    Fox repellent

Foxes do not purposely go out at night to crap in anyones garden... ... They go out to find food. If they dont find food, they move on. ...I have fed foxes over the years and never had them crap near my house.. DulwichFox.
  17. I think people have very short memories.. A few years back The Great Exhibition wanted to keep their Beer Garden open late into the night.. There were complaints by local residents.. No one to one conversation with the management made the slightest bit of difference. There was much discussion on here and eventually a meeting was arranged (with Councillor Barber and the other councillor whose name I cannot recall.) in Darrell Road. The outcome was that instead of the garden being allowed to open later, the garden was forced to close earlier. This meeting would never of come about without forum dicussion.. I rest my case.. 18. In reality there is no such thing as a digital aerial .. Freeview will work with any aerial if correctly positioned. Arials were designed for the Analogue service and Freeview does not need a special arial unless you are in a weak signal location and need the signal boosted. Dulwich
  19. Jah Lush Wrote: If you have a problem with somebody speak them. Communication is all. Bleating on a local forum isn't going to achieve anything. Well thats fine if you have the confidence to do so on your own. There are those who are able to throw their weight about. Some less confrontational people may feel they need a little bit of support.. That's the problem. If something don't bother someone, sod any poor beggar that it does bother. Maybe you are one of the clientel having a good time making the noise without a thought for local residents.. Foxy

A whole band of you > marching in might be seen as unnecessarily > confrontational. That would not of been my approach.. The Cherry Tree post on here and read the comments posted by other users.. People discusing any alleged noise problem here on the forum would bring the issue their attention and they would be able to put there case forward.. I haven't been to the new Cherry Tree yet.. It really is a bit outside my social geographical remit.. East Dulwich ends at the roundabout / Goose Green for me.. I am not looking for any new venue for social enlightenment. Foxy..

Whats tosh about it Lush ..? There is nothing in my general statement that warrants being tosh.. ?? Are you just being deliberately difficult.. ? At least if you think it's tosh, then explain yourself.. Foxy.

If you go into the pub on your own you may well be told they have had no other complaints.. Bringing it up on here and seeing if other people share your view and getting their support, then going into the pub together, there is more chance the manager will listen to you.. DulwichFox
