I'm REALLY going to try and make it this time. All hopes of coming last time were dashed by a friend's surprise leaving party. It's in the diary though...

'It doesn't mean that much to me, to mean that much to you' Neil Young I like to think of this as good advice for when you need the courage not to care what other people think

I think part of the problem is getting cabs late at night when the cab driver is fairly close to knocking off and doesn't want to end up too far from home. That's what some of them have told me, anyway! Most are happy to take me to ED and the ones that haven't have said it's in the wrong direction for their journey home

Don't we stand on the right on escalators? I'm not very good with left and right :-$ so maybe I'm confused. Or do Brits find it confusing because we only really have that system on the tube?

I agree it's annoying but you can untag the pics of you, which I do for particularly horrible ones!

I'm seriously debating deleting my account. I blame MySpace and Facebook (especially FB) for my increasing lack of productivity and a complete mental block I've developed about using the phone. My abject fear of awkward silences has spiralled out of control and now I barely phone anyone. It's ridiculous! And a little disturbing as it's so irrational and stupid

I was listening to a guy's mobile conversation on the train the other day. Sounded at first like a relationship drama, "And then she said she was going back to her kids" "No, I'm fine" "Honestly, I'm fine" etc etc. (I'm very nosey when it comes to these things.) And then it took a worrying turn "So, are we gonna f*@& him or what? I've got his address" Argh! I hope "he" didn't get a beating...

Free range meals on Lordship Lane?

I had a look at the sign in Springer's last night and could no longer see anything about it being free range meat - did I dream it? -
My B'day number one was Way Down by Elvis, although he was dead by then. My eldest sister is always so incredulous that I have never been alive at the same time as Elvis. Unless you believe what's written in the National Enquirer that is...

I got caught on the 12 on a sunny sunday afternoon (after thinking "surely there won;t be any inspectors on the bus on a Sunday, and a day like this?). Only had 50p on the card :-$ I was only going a couple of stops (so serves me right for being lazy) but it was hot and I was tired (ok, hungover). Never got a fine though. Maybe because I had at least attempted to touch in? I always pay now though!

Further away but I think I remember hearing that the one in Greenwich is fab - and pretty deserted at weekends -
Free range meals on Lordship Lane?

Maybe it's better in the evening? Can't say for definite as haven't been there of course. As it's my closest restaurant I should take a look in and then can report back and compare notes -

Thanks Cassius. At least she was consistent in her principles I guess. The Jamie programme looks truly disgusting but will be watching. Brendan, I live round the corner and haven't made it yet but has come highly recommended. A friend (whose food opinions I trust) ate there and said it was a truly superb meal. Not cheap but well worth it. It's on my list for sure. -
I have to admit I can be guilty of applying my make-up on the journey to work. But that's because I'm sometimes really disorganised in the morning and it's a good time-saving option. I try to only do it when I'm sitting on my own on the seat though. It's when I cycle to work that it really becomes a problem...

Free range meals on Lordship Lane?

I think I saw something on Springer's Wine Bar menu (in the window, so it was quick glance) that said they were committed to using free-range meat. Anyone else back this up? And a quick point on the poverty thing. The most infuriating woman on the HFW programme was the one who used cost as the deciding factor, even after being shown how far a chicken could go. Mainly infuriating because she was so large and you couldn't help but think, "Spend a bit less cash on chocolate and fizzy drinks (or whatever) and you'll find the extra ?2 for the free-range chicken". Or was that just me? I missed last night's episode - did she finally change her stubborn viewpoint that battery farming was acceptable?
