  1. If they do continue to LB why not just run it full service in that case. It would only add a couple of minutes for the train to disembark. No need to run full service back (allowing time for boarding) as presumably the demand is far less leaving LB in the morning.
  2. I don't really see the point of stopping services short at SB. In reality, who is choosing to ride to SB and then continuing their journey from there?

I know it may attract people from other areas but what is the real liklihood of six deliveries a day? The rate of stock turnover would have to be phenomenal for six separate deliveries to be required.
  4. I wonder if it is linked to the French Cafe on Forest Hill Road, I love that place on a Sunday morning. Strange website address, I've never seen an address end simply .co
  5. whoops, Underhill Road, not sure why I wrote East Dulwich Road!
  6. Hello, just wondering if anyone else is having a powercut on East Dulwich Road or just me. None of my trip switches have flipped?
  7. I must confess, I liked looking in the ED deli, but I never actually bought anything there. It was always extortionately overpriced. Tins of tomatoes especially used to blow my mind!

You crack me up Louisa, you bemoan that kids playing on the street is a thing of the past despite only recently venting your frustration of exactly that happening at Peckham Rye. I am seriously beginning to think that your posts are a knowing parody. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1275804,1275943#msg-1275943
  9. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-24629300 Exciting times ahead if the Police Station/Iceland goes to Waitrose (just dont tell anyone in the "buying a property is impossible" thread!)

Except for the fact that I am sure I remember reading somewhere that most of the businesses in Rye Lane own their buildings. Apparently years back, Peckham was the desired route for High Speed 1 (ie the line into St Pancras. British Rail bought up all the properties under compulsory purchase rights. When the route changed they sold most on cheaply to the existing tennents so it seems unlikely that rents will push them out. If anything, it will be commercial developers who are willing to buy up the properties, knock them down and then rebuild, but that is a much slower process. There was even an episode of Desmonds about it http://www.channel4.com/programmes/desmonds/4od#2922212
  11. This from the Southwark website, although given that they think there are 6bn Christmas trees in uk who know how reliable any of their info is!! ------------------------------------------------- Real Christmas tree collections Each year approximately six billion trees are used to celebrate Christmas in Britain, sadley only 10% of those trees end up being recycled. This January make the most of your Christmas tree and help the environment at the same time by recycling your tree. Choosing to recycle your Christmas tree in Southwark ensures that your tree will be composted and used as a soil improver for agricultural purposes around the country. There are three easy ways to recycle your Christmas tree in Southwark If you have a food and garden waste collection, real Christmas trees can be collected as part of your normal household collection service. Simply remove any decorations and its pot or stand and place your tree next to your brown bin ready for collection. If you do not have a scheduled food and garden waste collection service you can book an ad-hoc collection and arrange for your Christmas tree to be collected. Simply telephone 020 7525 2000 or email the environment team to book. From 6 to 31 January there will also be real tree collection sites at the following places around the borough Reuse and recycling centre on Devon Street (off Old Kent Road) Belair Park Peckham Rye Park Southwark Park
  12. 63/363 to Peckham Rye, train to Victoria, Victoria line to warren street and walk. Given where you are starting I wouldn't waste time with any options which require you to walk to Lordship Lane
  13. I would like to reccomend electrician Shaun Owens 07974943346. He is reasonable, prompt and does a great job. Can not recommend more highly.
  14. This thread suggests they didn't have the correct planning permission. Not sure if there is any truth in that though. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1136810,1142528#msg-1142528
  15. my understanding is that southwark collect the bins from your property and return them to within your boundary. That is what they do on underhill road
  16. logging out and sending the link appeared to work despite it being the same link... strange. The link was being embedded in FB if that helps?
  17. I am trying to send a link to a friend from the forum http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30%2C812227 When I click that link it takes me to the desired post, yet when my friend clicks it it just takes him to the front page of the forum. Anyone have any idea what is going on and how I send a link tot he forum?
  18. I imagine they must have had a cost base which they couldnt sustain. The place always seemed busy and the prices very high so I can't imagine they had a shortfall of income. People in the area were obviously willing to pay such prices (although I wasnt, I didnt think the food warranted what was being charged). I presume they spent a lot redecorating the place and presumably had to borrow to fund that. Now that the place is in relatively good shape, its possible someone else could take it over with much smaller borrowings and perhaps make it work? Its a great location opposite the park.
  19. This forum seems to be the place to do it!
  20. If I dont trust where I am and I have a manbag, I always tend to ensure my foot or chair leg is through the handles/strap so that it cant be easily taken away. Am sorry to hear yours was stolen.
  21. I dont subscribe to any religion, and am often am incredulous at the beliefs of others, but that is their choice. Who are we to argue, I think particularly Uncleglen it is not helpful to link the Tabernacle to Westboro on the basis that they are both baptist. That would be like saying East Dulwich is the same as the former East Germany as they both have the word "East" in them.
  22. The trees don't bother me so much. It's more the size and volume of weeds currently growing out of all the pavements near where I live. It's as if you are walking through the amazon on the way to the bus stop. I regularly pull the weeds out from the pavement infront of my house, others don't and I think the council probably has bigger issues on its mind!
