  1. maybe i'm being naieve, but surely if it gets rejected for planning, the developers will simply ammend it based on the reason for rejection?
  2. When I was a student in Glasgow I was borrowing my dads jeep and had it parked outside my flat. Someone broke in and stole nothing except a big catering size tub of Jellybelly jelly beans despite it having an amazing radio that we had spent a bit of money on. We concluded that it was simply students high on something who got the munchies!
  3. If you had asked me previously, I would have said I was in favour of this extension. However, upon relfection I think this would be a costly mistake. The overground extends to Peckham Rye later this year. Therefore, those wanting to make a connection to it from the 63/363 will be able to in less than a years time. To buy more busses and employ more people, and do more feasability studies to resolve a problem which will not exist in less than a year seems wasteful.
  4. So is there any further info as to what this was? I love just around the corner and this concerns me.
  5. The thing is by saying "keep them out of residential areas" you have to then accept that Lordship Lane is primarily a commercial zone. Regardless of what the licensing laws were before anyone moved in, Lordship Lane has always been a commercial area. If you choose to live in very close proximity, then you have to accept that as a commercial area, situations like this are likely to arise.
  6. Help me. I chose to live near a bar and now I am upset that I live near a bar.
  7. IF they appeared at 9pm I would assume its emergency. No one starts a regular job at that time.

Of course not, when people walk past I offer the seat next to me and stand up to let you in. To be honest it's not something I really thought about much before but I do kinda see your point so I'll make a vow now to not automatically occupy the aisle seat (I'm being honest here not sarcastic), I feel kinda embarrassed that I was breaking some sort of known bus code. I honestly just never considered it.

But not to stop people from sitting next to me. Being a person of slightly larger proportions \i prefer the aisle as opposed to being crushed up against the side wall of the bus. Also now in winter mornings, its too cold to sit against the side of the bus...much warmer to have an aisle seat!
  11. Yes I'm sure I would find the service very useful, especially as I often have to work in Brighton. I imagine it was stopped due to lack of demand, but it would be great if it were a permanent thing.
  12. They seem to be thameslink trains so I wonder if it's somerhing to do with weekend works on thameslink. I shan't get my hopes up for it being a permanent timetable alteration.
  13. You didn't fall asleep, I've once caught this train as well. Like a bullet it was! JohnL Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > There is an early train that goes from Peckham rye > straight to London bridge. > > I've caught it (unless I fell asleep).
  14. I'm sorry but this is terrible advice. Under no circumstances should you claim JSA if you can avoid it. The fact that you are on JSA is noted on your credit file and can make it difficult in future if you are trying to apply for a large mortgage. Lenders opinion is that if you are on JSA you are more likely to be on it again in the future an therefore you are not an attractive person to lend to as they require you to have regular high income. It's unfair yes, but true none-the-less. 15. I was planning my journey to Gatwick for later today when I was surprised to discover that there are now direct trains from Peckham rye to east Croydon. The thing is these only appear to be on a Sunday. Does anyone know if this is a permanent thing, or likely to be expanded to during the week as well?
  16. Sounds to me like your box is overheating. Is it in a well ventilated place. It is stacked with other boxes?
  17. It depends also on what side of Whitehall you are at. I used to work at Department for Education which is actually on Great Smoth Street. For me the fastest way to go was 63 to Peckham Rye, train to Victoria then walk along Victoria street. If you are not near the Rye you can get on a bus to Denmark Hill to connect to Victoria.
  18. I appreciate the bus is cheaper, but in terms of directness, its muck quicker to goto Peckham Rye on the bus, then train to London Bridge then jump over to platform 5 for train to Leicester Square. I can easily get to work in 45 mins from St aidens Rd taking that route. When I used to work in Whitehall I tried the 12 once, it took almost 80 mins to get into work that day...never again did I try! the-e-dealer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Bus is a lot cheaper. 19. yep, I got a 12 back from Peckham Rye Station tonight and I was pretty much the only person on it. Have also noticed that the 63 and 363 seem to be quieter now as well, perhaps the increased frequency is generally redistributing all traffic
  20. I got the 12 back last night at 3am. Normally at that time of morning I try to get on at Whitehall and its packed. Last night I was out near Waterloo so got on just south of Westminster bridge and I was able to get a seat downstairs easy which I guess is down to the increased frequency. I did notice though that people are still treating it as a free bus. Many were getting on through the back doors then heading straight upstairs.
  21. Please do not turn this into political point scoring. Gang culture is sadly a part of our community and the presence of a conexions centre sadly would not have prevented this. This saddens me deeply, the herne is my local.
  22. in scotland it is guising, there is no element of tricking, that is completely American. Also in Scotland you have to earn your treat by doing some sort of party piece, eg singing a song or reciting a poem.
  23. I know its not something you are currently considering, but what about Virgin Media (if you can get it). They have some pretty good value deals going on at the moment.
