Late night licensing on Lordship Lane
KalamityKel replied to madger's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'm guessing the mentioning of the under 14yr old bit could be in place as maybe there are children on site (on the premises not in the bar) and it is there for their protection as the licensing act requires? I've seen a fair number of application forms incomplete or have restrictions mentioned that bare no relevance to the business. Sometimes it is there to cover anything that may become an issue. Remember this is a variation of their current license which may have other restrictions already in place. I certainly don't read it as an open invitation for ages 14-17 to come along get drunk and have a "good time". -
remember to use used ones i.e ones that r soggy (steady on lads! and rosie :p ) ull be w8ing a long time wiv ones needing a wetting first...

It doesn't say anything of the sort! it clearly says "no person" and then with the standard exceptions. It is a standard part of most licensing to premises that have a bar and sell alcohol. Selective reading and misinterpretation could damage an objection... -

This is standard licensing and only applicable to those who are attending a full sit down meal and during serving time only... I didn't think the adventure bar offered full meals in any case? It simply means that for children who reside at the premises as a means for access/exit (from A to B). -

Why should we be comparing ourselves with troubled towns/cities as if we're "not that bad"? Is behaviour experienced in these areas something to aspire to? Surely it would be better to work to avoid turning into areas such as those mentioned above then to embrace it willingly as an inevitable evolution? I'm not against late licensing but I do think there should be more control on numbers and typess of place in one small area that hold them. In other areas licenses are staggered easing the burden of people leaving bars/clubs etc and avoiding trouble from rival establishments (not that there's much of it here). I still don't see the demand for the extension. -

Obviously I'm reading that wrong (hopefully) Annyhow, that would not be your case (objection) but the case for the police... plus if it was proven by means of a raid, for example, then the place could be shut down immediately -

You'd have to build a strong case up with the police and the council -

Easy to do if you are considering moving to the area but not if you've been a resident off of one of the side roads in question for more years than many of the businesses currently on the strip have existed. What "majority" of people are you talking about that have the need to continue drinking to the hours suggested? This thread is not about stopping drinking but the issue of Adventure Bar's application to extend their current license hours. Is there really such a great demand (in addition to other neighbouring bars open to the early hours) to justify their request? -

Sue what package are you looking for? I mean what makes Orange more appealing than other suppliers that is taking your fancy? I'm with Orange and they are ok I guess although speeds can be a bit up and down, customer support and helpines are not particularly helpful - as quoted by the help guy once "I'm not here to help just here to find out what your problem is" and you can be bounced around from department to department (of which I'm sure they all just sit next to one another in a far off place in the world). They do however, usually do what they say they do and change over is quite speedy and the instructions easy and clear to follow/understand.

Receipt print out can b adjusted but the tech ppl like to kick up a fuss about having to adjust things or re-progamme (point and click) and many often fail to understand y anyone would want to possibly do something outside of their own box... IME anyhow... It's beyond me
