  1. Been quite a few times. Love most of it but seem to be a bit unlucky on starters. Some seem a bit lacking in content. For example, a lovely big slice of terrine with barely enough cornichons for one mouthful and no bread or crisp bread. Won?t stop me going back but hope they can sort out starters.
  2. I do not know the retention requirements for health documents but if they are still available, unless they are your records it's unlikely that you will be able to access sensitive personal information without obtaining legal advice.
  3. Mick Mac, I started this thread as I was curious about his story (as I am about most homeless people) and did not have the intention of signalling him out but if I've done so by starting the thread, my bad. 4. Harris Westminster. Our son has just started there. Incredibly inspirational head, kids driven very hard but well supported. Compulsory 4 A levels (Head has a very strong philosophy about why this gets best results).
  5. Thanks, ED_moots. I didn't pick his accent for NY but def knew it was genuine US (hard to tell though as I only heard a few words). Glad to hear he has somewhere to sleep. He must be in a terrible situation as an non-EU citizen when it comes to healthcare! Can't see him being able to access mental health services through NHS but might be possible through Combat Stress or one of the other veteran orgs. 6. Referring to me whypter? I'm most certainly not gullible (notice the inverted commas in the subject title?) but I do have a heart and am aware of organisations that support homeless people. The desire to help someone in need is human. I was trying to find out if he actually was in need, if he's not then I no longer need to worry. whypeter Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > apparently the word '' gullible'' is no longer in > the OED
  7. There are limited support mechanisms for veterans in both the UK and US. Veterans make up a not insignificant proportion of homeless people. I'm more curious how he's ended up in the UK (if indeed genuine US veteran). He was holding up his passport yesterday but as I was on the bus I didn't get too close to it. jimlad48 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > He was back tonight - its an odd thing. 8. Saw this guy briefly whilst travelling through on the bus. Anyone know his story/how he's ended up in South East London down on his uppers? Wish I'd got off to talk to him and find out if he is aware of help he can get.
  9. Oldest has just started as Harris Westminster so can't really say much about his experiences but on paper it does very well. It is selective through exam, interview and conditional on A-A* is chosen subjects. Many subjects use Cambridge U as their exam board and they are in partnership with the fee-paying Westminster School (sharing some tutors and facilities). Would suit an academic child.
  10. Been using Zipcar for 10 months now. I no longer have a car left in our street and walk/bus short distances thereby causing less pollution. I can understand that those living in very crowded streets may find it a pain if parking is taken up by these cars but hopefully as take-up of Zipcar increases, there should be less cars on the road. I do have a quibble though, the bay on the corner of Barry and Underhill is poorly marked and as a result, there is often a non-Zipcar parked there. Needs re-marking.
  11. There used to be a company that dismantled you oven and cleaned it outside your house in their van (Oven Angels?). Can't find them online now. Anyone know another company that does this?
  12. It's our local and love Jade products. They're amazing. From the sounds of posts above we'll still get our great Jade products but with different owners.
  13. Love F&B for the colours like you. My experience is that whatever you use, with kids be prepared to re-paint every couple of years so if you think there'll be wear and tear, it doesn't really matter what you use so prob best to go cheepish.
  14. Doh - should have looked there first. sheff Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > according to their facebook page > > "This weekend is the last weekend of our bumper > summer sale! Hurry down for last minute bargains > before we close for two weeks for renovations"
  15. Shop is empty and closed. Anyone know what's up?
  16. We recently had Tim do so work for us and agree with what everyone has said! Great price, good knowledge and clean and tidy job. I felt he had a real passion for trees and has given us great advice to try and save an old Lilac tree.
  17. Interested in recommendations for heritage style uPVC windows and fitting. We have a local quote but not sure how competitive the price is. Is it cheaper to order the windows then get a builder to install or to go with a company that specialises. How much should we expect to replace bay window and one single, normal Victorian style window?
  18. Femster1 I'm afraid you owe Steve an apology. I've never heard of any tradesman not charging a fee for being called out. The fact that your tenant couldn't work out that the water switch was off is who has cost you the money.
  19. My thoughts with you - sleep deprivation is a terrible thing. Although it's school holidays, the School's headteacher, Alex Crossman, may be checking his emails. I would suggest sending him an email. He's a great guy and cares very much about the community in which the new school will be situated. Hope you catch up on your sleep. apmuso Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hi James - as you know from previous > correspondence, we back on to the site of the new > health centre/school behind Melbourne Grove. 20. One of my children started there this year. Whether it's good or not is difficult to judge at this stage. I have a high level of respect for the head teacher and the teaching staff but there are restrictions on their temporary site. I have issues with the current curriculum but none of those relate to the school. The teachers are very engaged and focused on the child. As the first year group, of it was any different I'd be surprised but I have confidence that this approach will continue. cordsm Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Does anyone have any views on the new ED Charter > school. 21. They may find it useful to talk to their childcare provider about how he interacts and responds to others at nursery. Before getting help, I would suggest they play detective a little to see if there's certain situations, individuals or events, foods that trigger behaviours. These are all things that a good therapist should ask so if they have these answers, it would allow them to drill into the issues quickly. Good luck.
  22. A friend with a similar issue had a fire curtain installed in their open plan area (boxed in so not obvious)
  23. It's that funny basement place under Dulwich Cafe. Don't know opening hours but was open when I was going home from work around 6pm so thought I'd drop in. Think they're still in the process of setting up but chicken and patties were good.
  24. Just had the jerk chicken. Chicken was lovely and fresh, seasoning had a great flavour. Enough to make my mouth tingle at the end. Good luck with your venture!
