  1. Er...it's called the search function Mick...just up the top there? Actually re-reading some of Tony's posts they were hilarious. Can't recall why he left...

    C'mon ANDY

  4. Cynical Murray doubters corner....the negative, typically British attitude of the disbelievers. First up El Pibe......may you EAT YOUR WORDS sir. El Pibe Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > Ok here goes. > > 1. Andy Murray won't win a grand slam > errrr that's it.
  5. Stormbird (with it's 250+ beer selection) is going in that direction. Red Star Bar > De Nollywood (Nightclub + Hairdresser combo) is keeping things "earthy" and probably therefore cool.
  6. Of course you'll only know this if you hang with the cool crowd. The rest of you won't know any different.
  7. East Dulwich was cool between 2002-2004 when it was "on the turn". Camberwell is now way cooler.
  8. Help-Ma-Boab has been out training again.

Quirky but cool. Straight up or on the rocks?
  10. ...according to his missus.
  11. Back on topic. I'm pretty certain I will never go into some west end shops because they are playing really loud, crappy MTV muzak. It's supposed to entive people in but just has the opposite effect on me. But that's because I'm that 35 year old guy still wandering around River Island gradually realising that I cant wear any of it any more (and should have quit at about 27). When you get older it gets much harder so most people (if they ever cared about clothes) just become boring and play it safe. A personal shopper sounds poncy but they can help with that and find stuff in places you wouldn't normally go and break you out of a rut.

I can confirm this for you UDT. ???? dresses in the finest Italian suits with a high thread count and silk content. He knows too well that the mix of fibres should be sufficient to maintain the shape of the cut whilst cooling in summer and providing a subtle aesthetic/luxurious feel. But catch him on a Saturday and he looks like a man who's been dragged through a Las Vegas poker house via Sports Direct. His taste in music is however always impeccable.

El Pibe missed another type - the one that takes your words and inverts them to present a highly controversial anti-jewish construct as trap bait. Nothing riles a liberal more than accusations of racism. Troll heaven.

The German thing is quite funny though and lots of quips like that would make it highly readable to some.... before he spoiled it some anti-semitic rant. Borderline trolls are the hardest to deal with. My take is it is the bored, unloved and alienated with perhaps a touch of borderline personality disorder who make up the worst at the extreme end with the usual immature mischief makers on the other. It has to be an extension of their real persona in some form...which is perhaps worrying but also real life.
  16. Otta /Jezza / David A - Whilst DJSenior may sound a little....emotional..... imagine if your back garden backed onto the new rear garden drinking area. An area that wasn't ever used in this way previously. All of a sudden you have a constant noise over the garden wall to much later hours and a house that will be substantially devalued (by many thousands) and become much harder to sell and possibly some real disturbance to any elderly relatives /young kids. It's easy to dismiss their distress if you are not living close enough to be directly affected on a daily/nightly basis. Worth keeping in mind no? Whilst I don't think the hours for that area are unreasonable. It's use at all for drinking should be properly thought through and heard at committee in terms of it's impact on the immediate vicinity.
  17. Putting aside all the usual fluff about Farrow and Ball - can anyone tell me if I can successfully colour match F&B in Dulux (ast a decent outlet) and if so will anyone be able to tell the difference? (apart from the ?340 extra in my pocket)
  18. I don't care about party politics, but also thank James Barber for his support on this last night - he gave a good innings. The fact is that there are noise issues with TGE on the CURRENT hours, never mind with any late license. On Tuesdays and Thursdays (quiz / live music) most residents in the flats opposite can't easily get to sleep until 11.30 odds. This is a fact unless ear plugs and sleeping pills are brought into play. So I think there should actually be an additional RESTRICTION placed on the premises rather than an extension. Why can't this pub follow the Gowlett and Actress in similar areas with a 10pm-ish close on outside space and at least put some acoustic blinds on the (single pane) street side windows /close doors for live music night? From TGE's positioning it's been an epic PR fumble. It's not ten stuffy NIMBYS complaining here. It's over 50 houses/flats at the heart of their trade. They go large on their claim to be a "community pub". Nice idea but a community minded pub would surely listen to the people that like and frequent it? (which BTW many of the objectors do). If they gracefully withdrew then I think it would be a start and win them friends. Fix a few things for the current noise on Tues/Thurs and they'll make a whole load more. They're reading this now but I wonder....will they listen?
  19. Update! Conciliation meeting is still this Wednesday 15th August but venue has been changed to East Dulwich Community Centre, which is at 44-64 Darrell Road.
  20. My only event last night - at Wembley for the women's football final and medal ceremony. I was blown away by the atmosphere which was infinitely better than the two cup finals I've been to. 80,203 people roaring, brilliant family atmosphere, no queue for the gents, and a great end-to-end game. Most priceless moment - Sep Blatter stepped up and announced to present the medals and was roundly booed by the entire stadium for about 1 minute before swapping to massive cheers for each of the 3 winning teams. Not sure if that made the telly?
  21. Update: Southwark have written to all objectors to advise this will now go to a public hearing on 30th August. Quote: "LICENSING ACT 2003 - NOTICE OF HEARING Thursday 30 August 2012 at 10.00 Great Exhibition P.H, 193 Crystal Palace Road, SE22 I refer to the application made under the Licensing Act 2003, for the variation of the licence in respect of the above-named premises and to your representation to it. In consideration of this representation, this letter notifies you formally that the application and relevant representations will be considered by Southwark Council?s Licensing Sub-Committee at 10.00 on Thursday 30 August June 2012 at Southwark Council Offices, 160 Tooley Street, London SE1 2QH. Room G02B. A report will be prepared prior to the hearing, which will include a copy of your application and the letters making representations. A copy of the report will be sent to you as soon as it is available and this will also be made available on the Council?s website at www.southwark.gov.uk " As much support as possible would be a good thing....
  22. I can see a new "Hipster Express" service emerging between Peckham Rye and Shoreditch High street. Does anyone know how long it will take the checked shirt + beard brigade to get from one to the other? Can't find any journey time info....
  23. I like "Strafer's Craic". Purveyors of good times since 2007.
  24. Good news indeed and best of luck. Whilst I'm not a fan of pub name changes (esp those that have a long history) I would definitely consider it here. I also put money on the Great Exhibition reverting to the CPT name in 2019.
  25. Last nights women's Canada vs USA (3-4) was amaaaazing. Gutted for the Canadians despite that silly goal. Interesting to see the women don't roll around on the floor as much as the men do and just get on with it!
