I would really like to see a thoughtful, joined up, area wide (and radical approach) to permeable street closures. That would make a genuine difference to peoples quality of life and is in the councils gift.

Segregated cycle routes linking with the tube at Brixton and Oval / kennington would be good (but will never happen as it would mean the loss of on street car storage). Southwark could work with some of the e-bike schemes (such as Lime) to bring them to the south of the borough (having failed to work with TFL on 'Boris' bikes). Other than that, the biggest opportunity for half a century to improve local transport (the Bakerloo extension) has been missed, with the decision not to extend to Peckham.

I don?t really agree with publishing photos. We don?t have public stocks anymore for good reason. That said, I would be surprised if the story is just made up and Lucy is not exactly denying it happened. So not that much sympathy. -

Lucy hasn?t exactly refuted the substance of the claim. -

Maybe PM the original poster and have a chat 'offline'? -
What you have to understand about Boris Johnson is that he doesn't really care about the detail of the deal. It's not that he is incapable, it's that he is indifferent. He's just interested in getting elected. None of it will effect his life in any discernible way.

So are you saying that you do pick up after your dog, or that there is no evidence that you don't? Must admit, I think the posting of photos / public shaming is a bit much. -

So anyone know when the new 'mural' is going up?

SUVs are generally heavier / less aerodynamic and so more polluting than similar, non-SUV models. They also pose considerably more risk to pedestrians as their increased height causes more upper body injuries even at relatively low speeds and they can easily mount pavements / ride through barriers when out of control. There is no need for people to adopt pseudo military vehicles in the city - we used to mock the US for driving around in these things, now (sadly) Europe seems to be adopting them. They are heavily marketed of course, as the margins are much bigger than on smaller cars. Interesting article on it in the FT this morning: https://www.ft.com/content/2967c9e2-ffc3-11e9-b7bc-f3fa4e77dd47

New e-vecicle charging points on Townley Road

Call me a cynic, but it seems a bit of a tick box (i.e. "we've installed X number of new charging points"). No one is going to park any significant distance from their home and so it would make much more sense to spread them across a number of streets. -
Buggy near-miss Goose Green 24/10
Earl Aelfheah replied to Kelpie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The crossing is obvious, there is a blooming big roundabout. It barely needs stating, but cars should not be hitting people and then driving off. -
I would like to ban people who stand head down, texting, in segregated bike lanes. Where did people use to stand and text before the segregated bike lane was introduced? I would also like to, maybe not ban, but heavily discourage / tax 4X4s in urban areas. Totally unnecessary and dangerous. https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2019/oct/07/a-deadly-problem-should-we-ban-suvs-from-our-cities

@dulwichbloke - you're right, there is no link to the parents behaviour and the child having (or not having) ADHD or autism. That said (as it's been raised already), what is the difference between a child diagnosed with ADHD, autism or oppositional defiant disorder and a child regularly acting in a way that is consistent with the behaviour a disorder describes? In other words, are some / any of those disorders more than just a term to describe a set of behaviours? Apologies if that's an ignorant question, but generally interested. Is the difference just a label from a psychiatrist? The suggestion above (and I've heard it before) is that one child (the one whose behaviour has been 'diagnosed') is deserving of help and the other is not, which seems weird to me.

Fry's Chocolate Cream are great. Knocks Haribo out the park. I felt that Brexit extension day was too commercialised this year. Feels like it's losing it's magic.

I've fixed the subject heading for you.

Are there any joint initiatives going on between Southwark Council and TFL to improve transport in the south of the borough? Cycle hire schemes, new cycleways, imporvements to public transport?
-
Sorry for the ignorance, but what's the difference between 'plant based' and vegan?

Goose Green councillors - how can we help?

Any chance of Southwark working to bring Lime bikes to East Dulwich?
