I honestly don't care. Both have already caused untold amounts of damage to the UK. Boris is probably the most amoral of the two (at least Gove seems to believe in something, even if it does seem to be 'creative distruction'). Let's face it, it's a poisoned chalice anyway. Who'd want to inherit this mess.

...oh and it appears that the EU aren't falling over themselves to give us a preferential deal, but in fact want us to Fock off as soon as possible.

The EU camp are now saying they want free movement of labour, that there isn't a ?350m 'Brexit windfall' after all and it appears Boris' claim made just before the vote, that there would be no economic shock in the event of Brexit, was 'mistaken'. What a ridiculous act of self harm.

Yeah, I've kind of given up arguing about 'Brexit'. It seems to me that a lot of people really aren't interested in reasoned arguements. I mean the leave camp have actually made a virtue out of 'not listening to experts'.

Whatever the outcome, I really think the decision will have to be final. It would be madness to have yet another referendum anytime in the foreseeable future

Windsor Walk, Denmark Hill Station

The same thing was said about Camberwell Grove and it never fully reopened. If the bridge if cracked as a result of the huge trucks and heavy machinery used in the developments on Windsor Walk, I do hope that some contribution from the builders will be levied. In my opinion, if Network Rail cannot or will not repair / maintain the road bridges, then control should be passed over to someone else. -
Why has another thread been started?

I completely agree. Unfortunately for many, many years, the press have discussed immigration almost entirely in terms of 'a problem'. This narrative has been at best, left unchallenged by politicians, at worst, encouraged. It's convenient for everyone to have a scapegoat handy when needed and so certain sections of the press have been allowed to peddle misinformation, prejudice and insinuation about 'dangerous immigrants'. It becomes a truism in the end... How do you address the 'problem', what's your answer? The only person I've actually heard reject the premise and say 'there isn't a general problem' is Corbyn and not surprisingly, it's been met with derision.

I do think that for such an important change, there should be a requirement for more than 50% of eligible voters to actively vote to leave.

Denmark Hill to Blackfriars
Earl Aelfheah replied to MarianaTrench's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
In rush hour, walking to Waterloo takes about the same time as the bus, but it's not a particularly pleasant walk. You can get the train to Blackfriars and walk from there, but still have to catch a bus to Denmark Hill and Thameslink line is pretty unreliable and busy in RH. Alternatively, you can get train from ED to London Bridge and then try to get on the Jubilee line. Probably about 35-40 minutes in total (although again, not the most pleasant journey). All in all, I would say that either the bus, or cycling are the best (of limited) options. -

Windsor Walk, Denmark Hill Station
Earl Aelfheah replied to Ladygooner's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It doesn't directly effect me, but the principle irks me. When the bridge on Camberwell Grove closed, we were told that the width / weight restrictions put in would be temporary. The bridge never fully re-opened. Now a bridge a little further along has also been closed. It seems the infrastructure is just allowed to deteriorate over time. Where's the accountability? -
Windsor Walk, Denmark Hill Station

What is going on with the bridges, both on Windsor Walk and Camberwell Grove. Are Network Rail no longer charges with maintaining the rail infrastructure? -
All you lefty fascists? I think you may need a nice cup of tea and a sit down.

Remain was ahead most of the way through the campaigns, because Leave just couldn't put up a convincing economic arguement. That's when Leave decided to hit the emergency 'immigration' button and start implying (whilst assiduously not explicitly stating) that a vote to leave would cut down the number of people coming here to work (obviously they didn't put it in those terms, more 'coming here to 'take houses, jobs and to launch terrorist attacks'). Unfortunately it has been very successful and that is why the polls are moving. If we 'Brexit' I suspect it will be in large part down to the idea that leaving will lead to less immigration (which it probably won't) and the ridiculous notion that public services will improve as a result of a weaker economy.

Ruthlessly exploiting a tragedy: http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jun/13/shameful-leaveeu-tweet-uk-face-orlando-style-attack I know there has been some questionable tactics on both side of the debate, but the Leave camp really are wallowing in the gutter.
