  1. I totally agree with Broca. I don't see any evidence of significant 'commuter parking' around the station.
  2. Lynton Crosby is a nasty piece of work. As long as the Tories have him leading their strategy expect plenty more deplorable negative campaign tactics.
  3. I'm rather proud of Londoners for rejecting zacs negative campaign. I suspect such tactics may have worked in some other regions and cities outside the Capital.
  4. I'm glad that Zac's sleazy tactics didn't pay off.
  5. I love Robert Dyas
  6. "I want to be clear there will be no pulling back from that vision, there is no reverse gear when it comes to our education reforms". So definitely a U-turn.. no reverse gear.
  7. The government have climbed down apparently. Obviously decided today was a good day to bury news of the U-turn (with the local elections). Glad they've seen sense though.
  8. The headlines ('Tories surge as Labour get demolished') seem to be reporting some other, purely imagined election. i think you've summed it up very well Loz.
  9. A polling station at the pub would be good. I might take a bit more time to fully contemplate my vote.

  11. The decision to ignore the public is b*llsh*t McB*llsh*t.
  12. Does seem weird that they have to shut the whole school. Would have thought the whole thing could be done electronically by now.
  13. feck it, I'll go out on a limb and say I doubt there are more than a handful of people who genuinely cannot park within a few minutes walk of their front door, more often than not, anywhere in ED. *ducks, takes cover under desk*

  15. I generally don't buy the idea that there are large numbers of people driving to ED station. If there are any, they're likely to be those from other parts of ED (who would presumably have a permit, in a CPZ scenario anyway). It's much quicker for people out of town to get a train in from further out.
  16. Parking is not a problem on roads much closer to the station than Ondine or Oglander (eg. Quorn Road). I therefore, seriously doubt that commuters are the problem on those streets.
  17. Do they also sell sock puppets?
  18. Hitler was only a vegetarian before he went mad.
  19. Londis is of course a chain. The replacement may be a chain, or possibly an independent. I'm not sure what the point is either way. There is no shortage of convenience stores on LL, so I don't know why anyone woudl be particularly exercised about the change without even knowing what's going to be there. Is it evidence the ED is dying. Not really.
  20. I think the chain thing is a red herring, in terms of being any indicator of 'gentrification'. There are plenty of down at heal areas which have lot's of chains, as well as very affluent ones with none. Rye Lane could not in any sense be said to be 'gentrified'. Gentrifying perhaps, but's that's different. I don't really know what people want. to live in an area which is solely 'working class' (however that is defined)? Seems very insular to me. This part of SE London is actually pretty diverse on almost any measure and all the better for that.
  21. The main guy reminds me of Ronnie Corbett for some reason
  22. Oh right, that explains why I wasnt' aware of it. I was just talking about the garden as was. Anyway I look forward to the pub openign again, wish they'd get on with it.
