  1. I don't watch the soaps, what do you mean by 'gay story lines'? Do you mean that there are too many gay characters.... Are you worried about realism? What's the watershed got to do with it?
  2. Thanks fonread - I've not heard of the rake before.
  3. fonread Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Anyone know what the rake is like? Nothing more > infuriating than a piddly, gentle slope... I don't get it.
  4. It is great to have a local cinema. Really chuffed.
  5. I used to run Bellenden Road, up the surrey canal path through Bermondsey Spa to the river at Shad Thames, over Tower Bridge, St Catherine's docks and onto the Regents Canal. You could follow the canal path as long as you like, up to Regents park, or loop back at Victoria Park.
  6. The point is that Peckham is going to change, is already changing, along with all of inner London. I think the results will be better if there are concerned citizens (even if they're not entirely representative of all the community) trying to steer the changes, than if it's just left entirely to commercial developers. At least with Peckham Vision there is an organisation that is trying to influence the changes and (as best they can), to reflect and balance some of the interests of local people.
  7. I never thought Louisa was aggressive as such. I did think that the posts were pretty tedious and repetitive though. That said, I'm sorry she felt the need to leave the forum.

I've met some pretty dull squatters, anarchists and crusties in my time.
  9. Areas change.. Brixton was once a pretty upmarket neighbourhood, then it wasn't, now it's kind of mixed and becoming more affluent. I don't like the idea of protesting about people moving into your neighbourhood, because they're different to you.

Otherwise they look really bad.
  11. Its' a shame, after the 12 route's 'bendy blight' was ended, this route has been good. Now another experimental, flawed bus design has been dropped on it.
  12. Looking at it this morning, I can't help wondering whether the builders have cut corners a bit with the finish - bolts not screwed down properly, the paving leading up to the door looks like it's going to gather water. A 4 month overrun... I don't know who the contractors are, but I hope Picturehouse have got some snag fixing and overrun clauses agreed with them.
  13. They were working late on it when I walked past this evening.

  15. I'm fairly sure that those cars are used for policing parking. They're often parked outside Heber School in the mornings - no bus lanes there.
  16. The Dulwich Estate and it's endowment was set up with the intention of educating the poor. Their only stated objectives today are to increase the annual income distribution to the Beneficiaries (several public schools educating mostly privileged children) and to maintain the value of the Charity?s assets. It seems to me that somewhere along the way they have lost sight of what Edward Alleyn was really about.
  17. We all pay for the roads, they are not the exclusive preseve of car drivers. Just half a single car space allocated for parking a vehicle other than a car and people get shirty. It's not the same as a dog kennel, don't be ridiculous.
  18. Apparently there are still lot's of tickets, but their phone lines are currently down. I guess this is what happens when you're operating from a building site. Fingers crossed they can get it all finished in time. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates re. the phones.
  19. They take up half a car space btw. Agree they could be prettier, but still think the positive aspects massively out weigh the negatives.
  20. I went past today - still looks like there's a lot of work to do inside before Friday.

  22. They have a gas assisted door so they cannot be slammed shut.
