That's an interesting thought. I've been wondering how on earth the Tories think they'll be able to implement this ridiculous policy. The assets they're proposing to sell off belong to numerous private social enterprises. They would require a change in the law which would be unlikely to get through the Lords and would no doubt be open to legal challenge regardless. But perhaps they have no intention on this policy making it though coalition 'negotiations'.

  4. Cameron's pledge to extend 'Right to Buy' to Housing Association tenants is probably the most depressing thing I've heard during this entire campaign.
  5. To be fair, I don't think this is what either Fox or Louisa was suggesting
  6. I walked past this mining and it's getting there. Maybe they'll make it in time!
  7. It'll be nice when they develop shiny silver spots (where people touch and interact with them). Bear in mind that they are designed to change and in texture and appearance over time.
  8. ... all of which the coalition could have addressed / reversed, had they wished to.

  10. This would really help link up Nunhead, Peckham and ED
  11. Don't get me wrong Louisa, I would love a decent Mexican in ED.. just pointing out that Dos Amigos was rubbish. Have to say though, there is more variety on the Lane now than there has been for as long as I can remember. P.S. I know it's old school, but I quite like Mr Lui
  12. ... also, the Mexican shut ages ago. It was awful.

We have a good Turkish restaurant on the Lane - Hisar.

  16. Exactly this. It's so people who either haven't got the space, or don't wish to keep a bike in their flat / house, can store it securely on the street. Bike storage is one of the things which puts a lot of people off cycling. I think they're a great idea.
  17. It's not just pizza. It's a proper Italian restaurant
  18. I don't want to be negative, but it does seem unlikely that it'll make its (third) deadline for opening. I hope I'm wrong. Not a great start.
  19. Boris Johnson said: ?It is fantastic that so many people are in support of the plans and I am determined to push ahead with them at pace. The extension has huge potential to breathe a new lease of life into south London?s ?opportunity areas?.? The specific reference to 'opportunity areas' (i.e. 'Old Kent Road') is interesting.
  20. There is currently a huge number of development sites around Camberwell Green. Had they been consolidated, the section 106 moneys may have contributed to either a reopened Camberwell station on the Thameslink line, or a future tube extension.
  21. more info here: https://rosslydall.wordpress.com/2015/03/27/bakerloo-extension-via-camberwell-more-popular-than-via-old-kent-road/
  22. This is what we need: Ken bikes so we can more easilly access alternative train stations and the tube at Brixton. Reopen Camberwell Station on the Thameslink line More buses running between ED and Brixton An extension of the Bakerloo line beyond zone 1 London Bridge to sort it's life out and more frequent train services from ED Extension to the Victoria line beyond zone 2 This is what we'll get:
  23. I've said it before I know, but public transport in SE London is truly awful. You could always try the 363 which runs parallel to Walworth Road. Otherwise it's bike or shanks pony.
  24. The riots are a weird one. I still can't quite make sense of what was really behind them, but certainly it was bigger than the Mark Duggan thing.
