What do people think about the IPCCs report into the Mark Duggan shooting?

I think the vague starting point of 'Lefties' may be the barrier to making sense of the rest of the observation. Those who are on the extreme left, probably aren't particularly enthusiastic about the Labour party.

Currently on 148. They're already getting hot and stuffy and we've not hit summer yet. The lack of opening windows / ventilation is horrible

Agree with you Otta, re the Lib Dems - they didn't win the election, so it's hardly fair for people to complain that their manifesto wasn't implemented.

Totally agree. It looks great.

The other thing about 'home counties blow-ins' is that many of their parents actually 'blew out' of inner London back in the 60s / 70s. It would be more accurate to call their children 'blow backs', or 'inner London returners'. Or better still, not to label and judge them at all, but accept that London is a dynamic city with constantly shifting populations.

If you look on the Orpington Forum, there is a thread about all the 'inner London blow ins' forcing up house prices with with their 'hot tubs' and 'core blimey trousers'.

Further money funneled into inflating the housing market and making it easier for first time buyers to mortgage themselves up to the hilt. Isn't this what led to the credit crunch and the global recession in the first place? I think the Tories have spent so long saying that the recession was all down to Labour spending too much, that they're starting to believe it. What happened to re-balancing the economy?

Ed doesn't have a high crime rate, but there does seem to be a particular problem with burglary. There are typically around 10-12 reported each month.

It depends on the vehicle admittedly, but a BMW X5 (for example) is considerably wider than your average car and much taller (obscuring ones view down the road).

The number of 4X4 s / pseudo military vehicles is a large part of the problem.

Drop kerbs effectively amount to privatisation of public space. It also leads to the loss of front gardens, which is undesirable in both environmental and visual amenity terms. I would like to see a general policy of refusing drop kerb applications except in exceptional circumstances.

It's a good question. I am not aware of one, but agree that more co-ordination and oversight would be helpful.

Yes, you're right about the 148. It's another reason I don't think the new Routemasters were a sensible investment.. the 'hop on, hop off' aspect, which was one of the major advantages of the old buses is often missing anyway.

Anyone on the left who doesn't have money is accused of 'practising the politics of envy' and anyone who does is called 'a hypocrite'. It's just a way of closing down any debate around social justice.
