@Lowlander - I agree with this to an extent, but actually you could make car manufacturers bare the costs rather than all taxpayers, through the mandated incorporation of relatively simply technology to all new vehicles. It would not be difficult to limit cars so that they were incapable (without alteration) of surpassing the speed limit. Of course no government would pass such legislation because, despite it's inescapbable logic, it would be political suicide.

The way to stop it is to remove the speed bumps and *shock* police the roads, targetting bad drivers.

Although I couldn't find the new timetable online anywhere, if you put in a date after 8 dec on tfl journey planner you can see what the running pattern is going to be for the new line. 4 trains an hour peak. 13 - 16 mins to clapham junction. Edited to say "that's from Denmark hill BTW"

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm looking for somewhere other than Dulwich park ideally (for some of the reasons stated already). I want to run 10k plus, but happy to do circuits. Never been to one tree hill so will try that out. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know.

Hi. I am looking to find some off road running routes in or near ED. Ideally somewhere with a relatively even surface, but not too hard / high impact. If you?ve run the tamsin trail round Richmond Park, that?s the type of thing I have in mind. Anyone know of anywhere locally or within easy reach of ED that fits the bill? My shins need a rest from road running. Thanks

Not sure I agree with the 'ok for men, but take care ladies' view. In truth men are probably more likely to be victims of a violent street crime, but either way no one should feel scared at the prospect of walking (or running) the streets at 6 am.

I was running back from Waterloo yesterday afternoon. Some of my workmates joked about whether it was safe running through south London. I causally cast aside such lazy stereotyping of my neighbourhood, only later to find my intended route (down Thurlow road) barred by copious amounts of police tape. This probably proves that I'm not a good judge of these things, but for what its worth I still think running to denmark hill should be fine.

What dufferentiates the working class from the middle class? Is it about eating sundried tomatoes?

I booked an appointment to see the doctor via Dulwich Medical Centre 12 months back. May explain his appearance although it would seem uncharacteristically prompt for DMC.

Richmond is zone 4, so not really a fair comparitor. Clapham has far better transport, both during rush hour but more notably at other times outside of peak times. It also has buses and trains as alternatives to the tube, a cycle superhighway and shortly, Boris bikes. The residents contribute the same to tfl's budget as we do. I suspect they get conaiderbly more of that investment back in local services. I think we could expect more here, in SE London.

Peeps are quoting travel times once you're on a train, but frequency (compared to the tube for example) has a significant effect on how long it takes in reality. If you just miss a train, you may hasbe to add another 10-15 minutes to your journey.

We pay towards tfls transport budget in SE London too. Perhaps someone should tell them.

That's simply not the case.

An extension to say camberwell and peckham would make so much sense. It would take a lot of people off the buses.

We really need to start asking serious questions of our politicians. Why is Se London constantly passed over when it comes to public transport.

You can usually park ok, just not necessary right outside your house.

It is very sad. Really hope that ED doesn't end up just another clone town. Wasn't so long ago that the prospect of Neros on LL generated protest, now there are people calling for chains to come here. I don't get it.
