  1. There can be nothing more to say on this topic. Just want to see the thread tip over into 29 pages. must be a record, no?
  2. I think most people in ED would be delighted if a Waitrose opened up in Honor Oak... it's only up the road after all.
  3. It's all an inevitable part of the gentrification of ED. Give it ten years and we'll have pheasants and peacocks mincing about. The pigeons are simply being priced out of the area.

  5. I saw a flock of them swoop down and pick up a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
  6. Please don't rip out the bar, or any of the original features... That is all.

Was this around the time of the riots? You may have misunderstood his meaning.

Totally agree. A major improvement to Peckham (and the Elephant) would have a huge knock on effect to the wider SE area. They are the two big centres for this part of London and both have seen better days. It's a shame that the E&C regeneration has gone so far off course.
  9. Well said Madger. We should all support our independents were we can.
  10. South circular to the A2/M25 is usually pretty quick although you sometimes get stuck going through Catford. There isn't really a guaranteed 'good' route, but it's generally faster heading out East than going directly South in my experience. Good luck!
  11. Does someone only become dangerous when they really hurt someone? This guy is grabbing strangers in the street. It sounds to me that he's pretty unstable and uninhibited. Report it to police. If they catch the bloke and believe that they need to involve mental health services then I am sure they're capable of making that call.
  12. I think wanted men are on aisle 6.
  13. That's interesting. In previous thread, I suggested that the hospital site may make a good location for a new school. James Barber suggested that it would be difficult to get planning permission and would cost too much.
  14. There is definitely going to be some real pressure on secondaries in the area in the coming years.
  15. It?s quite a long way off yet, but I have been wondering what happens when it comes to sending my daughter to a secondary school in the area. Are there enough places for the number of kids in the area (there don't seem to be many options)? What happens if you don?t end up with a place? My nearest secondary is Charter, but I think it?s likely that I would be outside the catchment (around 1.7 / 1.8 km away). The other schools in the areas are either private, exclude on religious grounds, boys only, or a fair bit further away (and I guess they also have their own catchment areas which we?re unlikely to fall within). The only obvious exception (from a quick perusal) seems to be Harris? Girls? Academy. Does this mean that in practice this will be the only option for my daughter? Of course it could have all changed massively by the time this becomes a real issue. Appreciate any advice from those with experience of the process.
  16. I think you said that a Waitrose would make LL look just the same as many other high streets in London. Which on rereading isn't exactly the same as saying that there is one on every high street (although it implies that they are not uncommon). The point stands that it would still be an entirely unique sight for a SE London High Street. 17. What problem does a CPZ actually address? The perceived problem of a small minority who feel that they have a special right to treat the bit of street outside their house as private property, to the exclusion of others? This despite the fact that the road is paid for / maintained by everyone and therefore for the use of everyone. But hold on. The council don?t mind double charging for this section of road (maybe treble charging as they can issue more permits than spaces). And the homeowner can afford to pay in order to exclude others....
  18. What is this entitlement to park outside your house, when you have neither a space, nor a garage on your property? Why should the council privatise sections of the public highway like this and in the process of doing so cause inconvenience to others who either can't, or do not wish to pay for use of a street that they already fund through their taxes?
  19. Waitrose don't have a single store within the SE London postcode district, so they're certainly not on every high street (not around these parts anyway).
  20. My wife and I were walking along Hinkley Road on Christmas Eve with our two young children (2years old and 7 months old respectively), when this really aggressive man bounded across the street ranting at us about 'looking at his house'. It was pretty scary because he was very aggitated and like i say, we had the kids with us. We just moved away as quickly as possible, but if you're in that area be a little careful
  21. Very convenient location, but the roads do tend to be a little shabbier that side of green in my opinion.
  22. I was ticketed in the same spot after checking the restrictions carefully. Took a photo of it and considered appealing but that means paying double the charge first, so we didn't in the end. civilservant Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > edcam's post reminds me of when we parked round > the back of the Old Vic on a Sunday afternoon > after carefully reading the sign to see if we > could.
