  1. ...but did the ?Tia Maria? have people chatting, in a small yard, until 9.30?
  2. The associated speed bumps do tend to lead to 'accelerate, break, accelerate, break' type driving which can't aid concentration / observation. They certainly do nothing for the environment.
  3. Have I misunderstood something, or is the current application simply for the gin yard to stay open until 9.30 during the week and 10.30 at weekends?
  4. Bare in mind that the alternative is currently a reduction of services from Peckham Rye / Denmark Hill.

  6. Denmark Hill is a horribly congested and poluted street. Camberwell Church Street has some interesting restuarants and pubs on it / nearby however. Many of the streets leading off it are lovely too (Camberwell Grove being probably the most notable). North of the green, Addington Square is quite nice.
  7. Peckham's where the hep cats are at.

To be fair, it's hard to address the ops question without clarifying whats meant by 'Denmark Hill' (shorthand for Camberwell, or the few streets in the immediate vicinity of the station, or the street of the same name?).
  9. ED is 'nicer' (more well ordered, more affluent and suburban). Not 'cool' though IMO.
  10. Camberwell is younger, artier, edgier and a lot more central. To this degree it could be considered 'hipper'.
  11. Camberwell is arguably 'cooler' depending on your definition. Denmark Hill is just a train station and street (one of the worst) in Camberwell.
  12. Anyone got a link to an online copy... I can't find it. Thanks
  13. Not more road markings please. I can't believe that people are incapable of keeping track of he speed limit already. The fact is that some people choose to ignore it, that's all.
  14. The problem is that the pub, for a long time had virtually no customers. Residents have obviously got used to the pub effectively, not being there. Well it is there and has been there for a long time. It's been revived and is once again viable. TGE is not an excessively rowdy pub in my experience and if you move next to a pub, then its a bit much to complain when it reasonably goes about its business.

But as long as the noise simmers down by 10:00 then there isn't much I can complain about really. If I lived next door to a pub, then I would expect it. We are not presumably talking about amplified music outdoors at this time, just customers talking until around 21:30?
  16. LB to Victoria is going this December (8th I think).
  17. This is why I would love the tube to be extended into SE London. Relying on transport services with are not only irregular, but have routes and timetables which are constantly under review is a nightmare. This part of London is the worst catered for in terms of public transport and yet the mayors priority has been crossrail (serving already well catered for communities) and has now switched to crossrail 2 (again serving already well connected areas). When will a politician look at the transport map of London and ask what's happening to address the glaring great hole in the bottom right corner?
  18. Oh yes... cross posted with statement from TGE. Well there you go.
  19. I'm not sure it's fair to suggest that TGE has no concern for the ED community. They've actually breathed new life into a previously failing pub. They've also encouraged a new craft fair and put on many other good community events. The pub has proved very popular since it opened (which I believe is part of what those in close proximity are unhappy about) and I for one think it's a great addition to the neighbourhood. You may not think it's location is appropriate for a late licence, which I fully understand, but please don't assume that your view is necessarilly the view of the whole community.
  20. I have never asked for, or considered the square footage when buying a house. I usually look round it several times and make an assessment of whether I like it or not. I've been using nothing more than a visual assessment of it's adequacy in terms of size. Am I insane? Has anyone got an equation which I can use to produce a desirability index of the local area and character ratio concerning the style? Blimey, I've not been looking at any of this objectively enough. Clearly, I am not cut out to occupy my own investment vehicle.
  21. Yep. I've had a bit of a slug problem too. They're definitely enjoying the wet summer.
  22. Good grief. Really? Why should you have to get out of bed, get dressed and go out and 'calmly and respectfully' ask someone to stop making a racket in the street, late at night? Maybe they should be *shudder* thoughtful?
  23. Unfortunately this stuff isn't uncommon. It's always happened, what has changed is that 30 / 40 years ago the local men would have all gone down and told them to stop it. Unfortunately that sense if duty and solidarity has gone from our communities. No one feels connected or safe. It's sad.
