  4. "Actually we don't care which school he gets into." "We really enjoy Maxim Friend Chicken for our regular take-away" "I support the head of Goodrich school. The bleating puffed-up snobs can go xx themselves."
  5. God is weeping as he reads this thread.and so is Jesus.
  6. I am very surprised that the administrators of this site are allowing posts with disparaging remarks about local professionals and their services. If these kind of comments were made about local traders, the posts would be pulled and the posters banned - such as happened to Mr Snorky who kep us so amused with his scorn. We should be supporting our health service professionals who often have to deal with very challenging situations. Things like the 2 year check are there to catch potential problems and allay concerns. Well informed mothers of healthy toddlers may find it is just a form filling tick box exercise - but for others it can be so much more. Just because it is not for you, does not give you a right to slag off health visitors.
  7. Dear James Has anyone contacted you about the threatened closure of STAX Saturday Morning Music School, run by Southwark Music Service? This marvellous facility, which has just been ofsteded as outstanding is apparently going to lose its funding. Parents of children who attend the school have been asked to contact their local councillors to see if you can do anything to keep the Music School going. The school provides subsidised tuition to primary school aged children living in the borough of Southwark and teaches a wide range of brass, string and keyboard instruments as well as drumming, composing and singing. When opportunities to learn instruments in school is limited (my son has been on his school's waiting list for three years), STAX fills the gap. Moreover, children learn in their own time, so are not taken out of class for tuition, missing lessons. Please, please, please can you work your wonders to keep STAX open!!!
  8. Just after 8pm this evening, a woman had her bag snatched by two youths at the lower (Grove Vale) end of Oglander Road. Apparently there have been a few similar incidents recently. Residents beware.
  9. I hope that the new Hospice shop provides some staff training so that their cantankerous volunteers will help the charity raise funds rather than give donations away. I too have trudged down there with good quality saleable items only to be refused at the counter. I felt quite affronted, but also very sorry for the charity itself that had just missed out on making a possible ?50. What is the point in volunteering in a hospice shop if you don't help the charity make money??
  10. Yes. Children do get bored of television, if you leave it on. Restrict it and it becomes addictively attractive. It's like the chocolate factory workers who are allowed to eat as much as they like. They soon get sick of it and don't bother. 12. The Sports Club gets incredibly busy and is likely to be even worse without the Brockwell Park display. It also gets very muddy!

Oh I don't know which is worse - burglary or pedantry! I hardly think that the thieves targetting this area would be so post-code sensitive that they would not dare stroll down the road and burgle an SE22 property!
