  1. Never seen a baguette in there but don't arrive til about 6pm so no surprise. Got the last of their croissant stock this morning. Mmmmmm. :-) I have to say, I do like this place.

    Hi there

There's a 24 hour bus to Clapham, the 37, not brilliantly regular in the middle of the night. But be careful of mentioning Clapham around these parts.
  3. Ah that's a shame redrouge...I must have got lucky yesterday then, admittedly it's not a journey I do regularly.
  4. Off to see Sex and the City tonight with some friends. We all have to dress up and drink cocktails beforehand. Might be an overly girly night for my liking but I'm sure I'll survive. I'd second Lives Of Others - great film. Can't say anything more without giving it away.
  5. Yep redrouge, as demery says there's a train link to Wimbledon from ED. My other half works in Raynes Park and he can do door to door in about 40 mins. There's about 3 direct trains every morning and evening. But even when the direct trains aren't running, it's still quick with changing at Tulse Hill. Did the journey only yesterday evening. Left ED station at 19.20 arrived at Wimbledon at 19.50.
  6. I'm in Canary Wharf. Moved to East Dulwich shortly after starting work here to be nearer friends and to reduce my journey from the long flog from the depths of West London. The journey did reduce considerably but rather than getting a seat, I now travel sardine style.
  7. We did have the blinking red light. But we decided not to stick with them and the Livebox went back. Where it gets complicated, they still took over our phone line after we closed our account with them. So suddenly we get a final bill with big termination fees from BT. It's been a long and complicated story... Thanks for the offer of help anyway. Sean McG
  8. Oh definitely don't touch Orange...even with a barge pole. We've had an endless saga with them which started in January and still has some way to go I suspect. And they never even provided us with any service!
  9. I really enjoyed being able to pick up some bread on the way home from ED station. And the guy in there seemed very friendly. So maybe give it a little while for him to get up to speed and then try it again.
  10. It's worth knowing about the buses though. They can be useful if there's a problem with the trains. And just occasionally, it's just nicer to take your time rather than be sardined into the train again. I sometimes take the very long route to Canary Wharf of a bus to Lewisham and then DLR up, it's just nice have a seat and be able to watch the world go by or read a book.
  11. Ha! Ha! It can feel a little like that sometimes...especially once you reach Peckham Rye. But seriously it's not that bad. Certain train times are pretty packed, especially towards the front of the train but it is only 10 minutes. If you like a lie-in and can hang on til after 8.30, you can usually get a seat.
  12. I do the same, RosieH, except I'm rather partial to the back of loo roll packs. To lift the level of this post, I'm also reading Lie In The Dark about a detective in Sarajevo during the war. Very slow going but not too bad.
  13. Or maybe a heffalump trap to stop them terrorising Lordship Lane?
  14. I don't find his comedy stuff at all funny, but his TV Burp gives a giggle.

    Prancing Pony

Hello and welcome (although I'm still a newbie myself) :)
  16. Me too! I was hopping along trying to see if I'd stepped in something.
  17. If it's not too nosy, can I ask how come? Are you just moving onto somewhere new? Either way, sorry to hear you're off.
  18. I do seem to remember that super-saver delivery often used to be as fast as the first-class delivery. More recently there's now a couple of days difference. But this coincides with Amazon stating that super-saver might take a couple of days extra to leave the fulfillment centre as acer said. So all in all it's fair enough. They tell you what to expect. If you want it straight away, then pay. if you're prepared to wait a little, then don't. (Aside: The terminology of 'fulfillment centre' is interesting. What's wrong with warehouse?)
  19. Congratulations on your motivation MW74. I've been meaning to get back out running for a while now and just not got round to it. I have done it on my tod before but it seems like I might need a little extra something to get going this time and a beginners course might be just the ticket. :-)
  20. I hadn't realised they were by the same director, you learn something new every day. Dead Man's Shoes is creepy and unnerving, another good film.
  21. Sorry to say it STB, but I liked This Is England too. Was getting it confused with Once Upon A Time In The Midlands for a while there, which I did think was dire. But now I've remembered...
  22. Uh-oh. I'm mesmerised.
  23. OK I'm going to be brave and make a recommendation. I'm a bit of a foreign language film watcher so it won't be to everyone's taste. The last film I watched and really enjoyed was Girl On The Bridge with Vanessa Paradis and Daniel Auteuil. A type of humour the French do very well. It's not a new one though.
