Well said, MoysieC

Peter and his team have just spent 2 days moving my 4 bedroom house into storage. Peter patiently answered all my questions leading up to the move, and was very helpful and flexible when I had to change dates. His team were great and worked really efficiently non-stop. Everything was done politely and in a relaxed way, yet the house was totally ready for storage in record time, including masses of dismantling and screwing shelves off the wall, etc.. They were also, by far, the least expensive quote. Don't hesitate to book them if you need reliable removers.

Dulwich Gas & Heating Specialists Recommendation
doody replied to Avril_Mathews153's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Another recommendation for Peter and Harry. Peter was so laid back about my changes of appointment , due to a delayed move. His price was competitive, he did extra work on the day for the original price, arrived early, and they were both super friendly, polite and relaxed. Definitely recommend. -

This is a great community project-wake up, Southwark Council! -
Congestion Charge now AT WEEKENDS and until 22:00 every day
doody replied to Bradlington's topic in The Lounge
Many people are still, understandably, reluctant to use public transport, which makes it costly or impossible to go into the congestion zone either for necessity or recreation, cyclists excepted. This has to impact negatively on businesses in the zone. -
How much are the brownies?

I'm appalled by Boris and his chums, but I do think it would be a shame to hear the negative, aggressive sound of booing after the quite uplifting and positive sounds of clapping at a time when lots of us are feeling stressed already. Might even frighten some people who don't know what its about...

Is anyone local making fabric face masks.
doody replied to hazelnunhead's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Definitely try this source [www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk) The proceeds go to charities, and I ordered 4 and got them the next day. Excellent! -
Yes, there are people with families in East Dulwich, the U.K. and all over the world struggling to live and jobless at the moment, - did you miss something? I'm sure they will receive your advice gratefully. And, DulwichB20, may I also inquire if you are a member of the S.E. bakery team,- who seem to have remained tacit regarding the comments on both threads,- as you seem strangely defensive of them on all the posts you have made on this forum since you registered today?

It's not good to see some local companies looking to profiteer from the current crisis, and to almost glamourise the idea of peoples basic needs, when they are reluctant, scared or unable to buy goods at normal prices. Your prices are ridiculous.

Weekend Brownie Delivery + Buy some brownies for the NHS
doody replied to SE Cakery's topic in Request a Tradesperson
I cant help feeling this is cashing in on our tremendous admiration for the NHS. Why dont you just deliver that box of brownies to a new hospital every week, and donate the ?15 to them yourself? I'm sure locals would be more impressed with that, which would help your business in the long run... -
Another client of Nigel, who has done great work for me at reasonable rates. I think it's a good idea that he asks if forumites know anyone who needs help, he's not trying to contact vulnerable people directly, which could be inappropriate. And I'm sure he is well aware of social distancing issues, and would only take on work with side access. A shame to put off people who could benefit from a generous offer...

And another beauty... tonight, about 7pm, at Peckham Rye, was walking through the empty, wide pathed garden near cafe- could literally hear the panting coming up behind- turned round to see large framed woman jogger, 40's, grey top, red headphones, bearing down on me, showing no sign of moving across. I indicated "space" with my arm, and was treated to " Is there sumfink wrong with you, freak?" as she passed within 2 or 3 feet of me. What to do? I'm perfectly resigned to constantly changing my own course, and picking my way through the dog turds and potholes in the grassy areas, but if there's no escape, are we supposed to just put up with it for fear of abuse from some selfish morons? With her grasp of the current situation, perhaps she should have joined in the football match which was taking place at the top end of the Rye...

Crystal palace Park late afternoon- gates to car park locked, notices re social distancing in park posted. Inside, a patrol of Police car and van with megaphone messages, and challenging anyone not following rules, ie one sunbather told to " get up and exercise or leave". he was bewildered- a perfect example of how unaware some people still are. I was both delighted to see the rules enforced and despairing at the stupidity that still exists, wasting valuable police time and endangering us all.
