  1. Was in Cafe Rouge recently for my dads birthday and was amused by the 'Allo allo' dodgy accents. I could understand them but when i asked one of the waiters if he could actually speak any french he replied something in a braod scots accent which i could not understand. Thankfully, he reverted back to the 'Allo Allo' accent so i could understand what he was saying.
  2. So we now have a 'Pink' lady as well as a 'White' lady?
  3. they were most probably spotlights shining on the underside of the clouds. they have them i believe on the Southbank near to wear the Television centre is.
  4. Just to show how old I am (43) i remember when the only eating place apart from Savarins greasy spoon down LL when i was a kid was "The Spartan Grill" which was directly next to Somerfield. Then later "Never On a Sunday" opened up where i believe Spaghetti westerns is now. Yilmaz's which is next to Hissar; was great in the 80's because it stayed opened until you left. many a time me and a few friends from the Magdala Football team crawled out of there about 5am on a sunday morning.
  5. >thats why they should bring back the routemaster, you could just hang off the back,do the deed, continue on your journey and not offend fellow passengers Spadetownboy; As a Cyclist may I oppose to that idea?
  6. Had 2 pints of dutch or belgian lager in the Summer and paid ?10 for the privilage. ?5 per pint???? shurely shome mishtake!
  7. I think they switched off the traffic lights as it may have been a hazard due to drivers rubbernecking and knocking someone over on the crossing. Just a theory.
  8. Sorry if this has already been mentioned on this thread but a bomb fell on Woolworths which is where Foxtons is in LL on a busy saturday; killing loads mostly women and children. I vaguely remember going there as a child when it was still Woolworths sometime in the very late '60s.
  9. Talking of the hippies: i remember being in Savarins Cafe (which used to be a couple of doors along from the Bishop; anyone remember?)one Thursday afternoon with my dad and 4 of them came in and order 2 slices of bread between the 4 of them. when the bread arrived that cut into 4 slices and had a slice each. My dad told them that were all mad.
  10. My dad took me to see "Carry On Don't Lose Your Head" at Dulwich odeon. That was the last time i went there. I remember that we used to come out through the back door after the film into Tintagel Crescent. I reckon that was very probably not long before it closed. i was about 7 which would make it 1971.
  11. I apologise if this question has been asked elsewhere on this forum but: Does anybody know what that white shop does/is towards the bottom end of North X Road?? it never seems to be open but there is always something wierd going on in there. During the summer there was a portable TV showing some woman waving.
  12. I think its a great surgery. All the doctors are splendid. Specially Dr Bhatia. She's a real babe.
  13. Bodicea topped herself on peckham Rye? what did she do throw herself in front of a number 12?
  14. What is a "Yummy Mummy"? i was in the Bishop once and there were 5 women in there with babies and huge pushchairs and my companion said "Look yummy mummys". None of these mummys looked yummy in the slightest.
  15. Bonfire night usually starts around 29th October and finishes around 10th November. Then again all my campaigning in the Peninsular and France against Napoleons forces have made me deaf anyway.
  16. In order to answer the question on Regan looking old; as i kid i used to get the Sweeney paperback books. The opening line from one was "Regan was 36 and had been on the piss since he was 18". thats probably why he looked old.
  17. Why this man is so revered is beyond me. okay he was a great player but as a person on the field he was awful. he once punched Tottenhams David Howells in the face because Howells had committed the crime of tackling him and he gave abuse to a linesman who was Phylidamide sufferer (sorry for the spelling and if the term i use is incorrect) saying horrible things about him having short arms. but then again nothing surprises me in a society that rewards mediocrity.
  18. Can i ask a question? Why is it when i see these roadside stops for car tax and insurance is there around 20+ police officers in attendance?
  19. good account of the meeting. the female doctor mentioned is not from the nursery but from the surgery; Dr Bhatia. i thought she handled herself well and in fact was the best person from DMC. She was clearly winded by the reaction but handled it in a calm manner. A great speaker if ever i saw one.
