  1. It would have been nice if his Dad had let him ring home to let you know all was OK. Perhaps your son could bring home some toenail clippings and some hair and we will help you make a voodoo doll!!!LOL Getting upset and angry, although VERY justified , is playing into their hands, and hard as it may be, you have to grit your teeth and let your ex know, firmly, that in future you would like to hear from your son to know he has arrived safely. You are doing the right thing by not saying anything negative to your son re his father and the new "set up". Given time he will make his own mind up. Good luck and hold your head HIGH. (Scream into a cushion! It helps)
  2. Hello! Thanks for your kind posts had a similar experience with Lomax years ago. When he first moved in back in the 1960's, we had the shop next door. He was always very kind, and when our moggie became very ill, he put her to sleep free of charge. Likewise with a kitten I found that was badly deformed. I dont expect free treatment but to pay a fair price. ?148 is extreme and not justified.
  3. well now we know what to do with you then LOL LOL merry Christmas!!!
  4. My daughter lives in Kent...I know not local to ED.... Yesterday she took her cat to the vets, it has kidney failure. The vet told her to bring it back today, treated as necessary, and sent her on her way. Last night her cat collapsed. The emergency vet wanted to charge ?148 to put the cat to sleep. How humane is that? What if a poor animal was run over and the owner couldnt afford the vet bill? Would it have to suffer until the next day when the bill would be ?100 cheaper??? Before you ask she can afford it and isnt on a low income so doesnt qualify for free treatment. However, should this be questioned if an animal is dying? Stepping down from soapbox now grrrrrrrrrrrr........

  17. tut tut.......... No wonder these kids dont bother if people judge them on their backgrounds and race. GIVE THEM SOME INSPIRATION, dont write them off. As I said before Harris IS improving as a school. I can assure you my precious daughter would NOT be there if I thought that she would by association become a drop out/druggie/mugger/thief. Mind you I could send her to a very public school and she could learn the same there, a bit more upmarket.......
  18. Benmorg...I am lost for words! People like you should not tar everyone with the same brush. My daughter attends Harris girls after being taken out from a high achieving Catholic school. She has never been happier. She is taking 2 BTEC'S along with all the compulsory GCSE's which means she should come away from Harris with 17 GCSE's!!! Also she is predicted A grades as are most of her peers. Recently Gordon Brown has been there praising the standards and the girls. Also Damilola Taylors father,Kelly Holmes, and Tony Blair have all visited and remarked on the turn around of the school.High profile personalities would not lend their names to something that would have a negative impact on their reputation. Leslie Day and her team have worked incredibly hard in recent years for this to happen, and the school is improving in leaps and bounds. Yes, there are some problems as in all schools, but give them a chance for goodness sake!!!
