  1. Bloke I was working for today has a 3 yr old son called Balthazar.
  2. My first (proper) girlfriend was called Jenny Taylor.
  3. I know what you mean as there was going to be a mass cull on a lot of the trees in PR park a few months back and many of those were questionable... But I have seen a few big ones come down in storms that are like balsa wood a few inches below the bark. Just cause it looks healthy doesn't mean it is.
  4. Surely that's a train company problem, not a James's EDlove?
  5. Had this too from the other half's (o2) phone, txts sent six or seven times. At first thought she was making a point or something.
  6. Are you sad, loz?
  7. "understandable and commendable".....?
  8. Nothing "cosmic" about being sad at an old lady being hit by a car loz, so spare your awwwing. Along that stretch of road it should not happen; its a wide road with good visibility that rarely has any parked cars with a 20mph limit in broad daylight. I travel to work at about 20mph and I can stop in about 15 ft or less at that speed if I'm paying attention. Old ladies don't tend to dart into the road like a teenager might. Not massively interested in the art of disagreeing poker; a very old lady (maybe senile/not all there who knows?) has been hurt yet your post seems to scan "ahh well, accidents do happen...."
  9. Pfffth. I'd play a little less poker if I was you.. bad for the heart. Agree with unlurked.
  10. balanceforlife has a good point though. Brenchley gds is a "fast" road ime. Thoughts are with the lady involved :(
  11. Quite like it myself. And as for "I'd rather look at a tree stump"... Can't please everyone.
  12. Doesn't mean human beings should do the same.

    Great Gigs

Megadeth, supported by Alice in chains at the old Charing cross marquee, about 1989. Absolutely rammo moshpit from hell :). Ratm at Glasto 1994 (?) was good as well.
  14. 20 years ago the area looked far rougher imo, so don't see what the point of this thread is....
  15. Getting a kick out of mauling an animal is clearly wrong. Pest control arguments don't make sense either; hunts are a really bad way to kill foxes if that's your aim.
  16. I see your triangle Kalamity and raise you.... a marimba. I'm pretty ropey all round but I'm all ears lashtal.
  17. Conways doing Linden grove (by the cemetery) in Nunhead at the mo. Didn't need doing, it was fine imho. Good question by the OP...

    Budget

I was hoping (from a personal point of view) that stamp duty would be bought into line; 3% for a small two bed house don't seem right. But I'm down the pub drinking 400 pints then off to the bingo later so it's not so bad.

    Budget

The rise in basic tax threshold is good, but the recent class 4 ni rises almost negate it for the low earning self-employed (like me)
  20. "Yes very common, but surveyors are likely to turn more bullish as prices keep rising." very true^^ But BIG price hikes are going on all of the SE so I'm not sure its just London. House of cards mk2.6.....
  21. "It's unpredictable how this will all end" Pretty badly imho.
  22. Ban the OP from the forum would be easier.
  23. Have to disagree about polystyrene tiles; they will do bugger all. As said by others, mass is the key thing, and an airtight seal is important too. If there are any cracks in the wall, you could caulk these as any tiny gaps will allow sound to be transmitted. There is no easy fix, the cheapest would probably be a 2 inch stud wall infront of the existing wall packed with rockwool and finished with a couple of layers of plasterboard. This will work better still if you space this new wall a cm or so from the existing one, and minimise the contact points (screws) between the two walls.
