  1. Visitors arrived today with US dollars, looking to change into Sterling and also Euros for a trip to France. Is there anywhere in East Dulwich that would do an over the counter exchange? What other options are there? Any advice much appreciated. Thanks, Graham
  2. Another burglary this morning in Lordship Lane about 100 yards up from the Police station site. Between 9.00 am and noon a considerable force used to break a thick, heavy door and 2 flats ransacked . If you spotted anything suspicious please get in touch. Thanks
  3. My vote would be for St Lucia, with hotels like this.... http://www.ladera.com/ Graham
  4. Tlmm... Have taken the time to send you a message regarding an apartment in Weymouth I'm not sure if if have not got the message or have simply not got the courtesy to respond. Perhaps someone else is interested in an extra week or two away in Dorset? Graham
  5. I have a 2 bed ground floor apartment in Weymouth . It is further to travel but is close to a superb sandy beach. I'll send you a pm with some details Graham

  9. PokerTime... If you would like to visit the club, I can offer a lift to the club on the 14th. ( have 3 spare seats in car.) Graham From the Club Web site.... "Have you ever wanted to learn how to sail a yacht? Do you have dreams of sailing into the sunset (clich?, but it happens!) Don't have a boat yourself? Or just want to crew? We have a small team of members who have very kindly offered to share their boats and time with other members who want to do just this! So you don't need to have your own boat to join Hoo Ness Yacht Club! There are always opportunities to get out on the water, from just outside the club to the Mediterranean. So ring the Membership Secretary now (or email him) and come and visit us this weekend."
  10. If you already have some sailing experience or would like to get involved read on.... I am a member of Hoo Ness Yacht Club, based on the Medway and one of the closest yacht clubs to East Dulwich. The club is very friendly and has a "self help" policy which keeps fees low and gives a real community spirit. Contrary to popular belief, sailing does not have to very expensive and the Club is seeking new members, without boats, who might wish to sail with established crews. If you are interested, please see the club website - http://www.hooness.org.uk and find the "Join Us!" section Thanks for reading and if you have any queries, please ask here or contact the club. Thank you Graham
  11. Hi, KidKruger, I fitted solid kingspan/celotex sheets between the joists - wedged tightly and with nails to prevent them dropping. I was able to prevent cold draughts coming up between the floorboards. The space below is well ventilated. The materials are more expensive but I believe the insulation value is better. As usuual my jobs are not 100% complete, with some boards not fixed down. You are welcome to visit in Dunstans Road if you would like a closer look. Graham
  12. red devil Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I had a similar problem once. A new divertor valve > sorted it out... Had the same problem - new diverter valve sorted it. A short term solution - whilst central heating is not switched on - close the central heating flow valve at the boiler
  13. Lee, I have found my car unlocked with windows wide open on 2 occasions, but luckily nothing was missing. I have discovered that a long press on the remote's unlock button unlocks the car and opens the windows. When it happened last week I was working in the garden up a ladder. The car key was in my pocket and I reckon I leaned on the remote. Young children playing with keys could do the same. If you are unlucky the car is within range and it will open making it easy for the thieves. Graham

  16. I'm fortunate to be staying in St Lucia for 3 weeks with family and friends. I always meet up with a good friend, Peter Jackson, who taught me to dive many years ago and is a professional photographer on the island. http://peterjacksonphotography.lc/ Peter now rents his apartment, so if you like independent travel this may be of interest to you. Peter is great fun and treats his guest well. Check out the Airbnb web site https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/338787 and feel free to pm me if you would like more info.
  17. I have a stock of large envelopes. Leaflets can be returned by post, without a stamp
  18. I know 2 wrongs don't make a right but I'd be tempted to smear the handles of the bins with something sticky and unpleasant.
  19. David, A few weeks agoI had a similar problem in which the print spooler service kept stopping. Installed printers had disappeared too. After a lot of research I found this page of useful info which had a solution to the problem:- http://forums.techguy.org/windows-xp/998760-solved-print-spooler-keeps-stopping.html The fix involves editing the registry so take the usual care or get some help if it's a bit too technical for you. Hope that helps or at least points you in the right direction. Graham
  20. I can echo the positive feedback about this scheme. It is good to have a free service that quickly determines what's needed and gets it all sorted in one visit. Only one slight problem, the shower head provided does not fit well so is not needed. The installer said he reads this forum and is welcome to return and recycle the shower head. (Graham, Dunstans Road, Wednesday 7th Dec)
  21. Renata, Do you believe what you have been told? I regularly pass down Dunstans road and have not seen any works being done. I have not noticed any changes to the heights or spotted any new tarmac. Has anyone any first hand evidence that this work has actually been done? Graham
  22. Alice, Could be the fan slowing down or fluff/dust clogging the cooling fins. Check for decent air flow through the laptop. Graham
  23. James, Dunstans Road is a 20mph limit road. In my opinion you should be able to drive a car over the bumps at 20mph without causing noise or damaging your car. If you go faster, you face the consequences What's your view? Local people have learned from experience that the bumps are severe and know how much to slow down. However the noise disturbance is still happening because unaware people who travel at a reasonable speed are getting caught out. On top of that we will still get the speed merchants who just don't care. Why are there worries on cost of repair? If they are measured and found to be too large then surely it's the installers fault. Or has a council employee signed it off despite my warnings shortly after installation? What do others think? Should theses bumps be there to try to enforce a lower speed limit? Graham
  24. Brum... and move house to get away from the noise if you are unlucky enough to live nearby.
  25. I have found this site to be excellent for watching the ISS. http://esa.heavens-above.com/PassSummary.aspx?satid=25544&lat=51.517&lng=-0.105&loc=London&alt=18&tz=GMT Shows a map of the night sky plus the ground track. Just need some clear nights in the next week or two.
