  1. My son went there from 8months to 26 months and did really well. As with anywhere we felt some staff were better than others. We really liked the outdoor space and the fact they have outside time everyday. No experience of the new manager but we have our name down for a place when our second arrives.
  2. No, my mum was with me and my husband. I was originally looking for a doula because my husband wasn't sure if he wanted to be in the room and my mum splits here time between England and Ireland and do wasn't sure if she'd be here, but all was well :-)

I think we find out fairly soon from > Bessemer about nursery places but not heard > anything yet... Our son is at Little Stars - the room before "nursery" at Bessemer. We are also waiting to hear about nursery places. I think they hope to get back to parents by the end of the month if not before. I can't comment on the nursery but our son moved to Little stars from a private nursery in October and absolutely loves it and I agree the outside space they have access to is fantastic. All staff I have encountered so far have been lovely.
  4. Hi, My second is due on 6th October. I already have a son who is turning 3 in August. I am in East Dulwich. Easiest way to arrange a date is to use Doodle... someone (not offering, sorry) goes here http://doodle.com/en_GB/ to set the survey up, chooses a selection of dates and then posts the link on here for everyone to respond to. Weekday evenings are best for me with a little planning so that hubby can cover son's bedtime. As long as everyone has ticked the "send replies to this thread to me via email" box when posting on EDF you should be notified when someone responds to the thread. Cherry Tree usually has lots of space, and the food is pretty good.
  5. Sorry, my post was from three years ago... I have had my baby
  6. Looks great Foxy! We went to Rose's as they was our closest and the fish was fantastic :-)
  7. So at the moment Rose's seems to be the best option....
  8. I am also looking for a decent chippy. We used to love the Sea Cow years ago but it declined over the years. My in-laws are coming to visit on Friday and want fish and chips in the garden so we are looking for takeaway. Am I right in concluding from this thread that Codfellas on Bellenden Road is good apart from the wait? It will be a several person order so planning to order by phone first anyway and I see they go gluten free too. Emily's on North Cross Road is or isn't good? Is Roses on East Dulwich Road the one in the parade of shops with Flying Pig, Papa John's Pizza etc? That is good? The Dulwich Fryer, now Hamlet something I think (near Sains) any good? Any other recommendations?
  9. I am a little late to the debate on this but as a resident of Abbotswood Road, and a mother who's child goes to nursery at Mother Goose on Greendale, the proposals concern me. Someone has mentioned the lack of discussion regarding traffic impact. The photo of the planned proposal seems to show lots of green added in but where are all the access roads for Sainbury's the stadium and the housing estate that is already there? The planned flats... one of the reasons the area is so nice is because of the openess of the area, how is it going to impact the skyline. I use the footpath from Abbotswood Road to Greendale (running alongside the astro pitch) every morning and evening for the nursery run. Currently it is a pleasant start and end to the day. Being in Zone 2 and still having the sounds of nature are lovely. One of the reasons we chose the nursery we did is because is has lots of open space around it. I know pollution is high all over London but being near fields has got to have some positive impact. If the planning was approved and went ahead then the initial construction phase wound surely damage more land the the finished stadium footprint as all the building materials, vehicles etc will need to be stored somewhere and access the site. Not to mention the noise and disruption to the nursery, primary school(s) and residents in the area. While I have never been to the stadium and find the increased traffic in the area on match days inconvenient, not to mention the noise when you are trying to settle a baby, I appreciate it's value and plan to support the club by attending with my son when he is older. What I don't understand, if there are all the issues with the club building etc (and having visited the gym etc I this the facilities are awful) is why they are not just using the existing footprint and developing that. I guess that will come down to money. The amenities in East Dulwich are already stretched... anyone trying to get on a train at East Dulwich station to London Bridge at peak time will know this. I accept that it would be good to have more affordable housing in East Dulwich, we would love to be able to upgrade to something bigger, but the flats are unlikely to be reasonably priced, I mean why would they be given the zone 2 location.
  10. I would just like to say that even though they have nothing for children specifically (i.e. no play area etc) we have found the Cherry tree to be incredibly accommodating when we have been there with our highly active son. Even when he has stopped right in the way when the staff member had their hands full of plates they were courteous! As for the 19:00 rule... I would suspect that is a licencing implication... I am grateful that they allow children at all and moreover grateful that the pub has been revived into a warm and welcoming social hub with quality food, drink and staff.
  11. Hi, We would like to get our newborn son's hand and foot prints set in clay (or similar) so we have a keepsake. Can anyone recommend anywhere in East Dulwich where we can get this done?
  12. That's the day before I'm due... If I'm having an energetic day I will try and be there :-)
  13. Hi Julia You just pm'd me but you need to PM birnehelene as she is the one who updates the lists x
  14. Hi Convex, is the Angel Sounds one you have just sound detection or other monitoring capabilities? Do you have a preference? and if so, why?
  15. This one? http://www.shop.bt.com/products/bt-baby-monitor-250-79MX.html
  16. It sounds like we are better saving our pennies for other things then and investing in a good quality sound monitor with room temperature on the display too... any recommendations?
  17. Gmail's spam catcher is pretty on the ball so as I haven't saved the sender's email that may be why I missed it - I will keep an eye out. Thanks!
  18. I seem to have missed the email :-( I did PM you and thought you added me.... could you check please? amandashere......
  19. Hi, I am trying to navigate my way through the many options of baby monitors. I was planning on just getting one that picks up audio but now there are ones that sense movement, video link, even link to mobile phones! Are the hi tech video link ones worth the extra money? What do EDF parents recommend please? Amanda x
  20. Thanks for the update :-) I would love to come along on Wednesday but having looked at the menu online nothing appeals which is a shame :-( I may be able to do something on 27 July, if not then I am on maternity leave from the following weekend so hopefully I will be able to make the next evening get together.
  21. We looked round this nursery and personally I would not send my child there... I was really disappointed especially given the fees they charge!
  22. Convex Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The nappy lady is selling a proper running buggy > at the moment. Would you consider a separate buggy > for running vs everyday use? > Unfortunately we don't have enough room for two buggies. I have been in touch with TheNappyLady and she sent me pictures but it is a fixed wheel buggy. We were hoping we can use one of the buggies that has the functionality to have the front wheel fixed (for running) or swivel (for when you need manoverability).... maybe we are expecting too much but can ask when we head to Peppermint who stock both Phil n Teds and OutnAbout.
  23. It wasn't the sub4 as hubby has only recently discovered the sub4. The outnabout looks good. I have found a place in south london that stocks phil n teds and the outnabout so we can go and look at them :-)
